In today's U.S. Navy, I strongly assume he'd of been summarily dismissed for such reckless acts. Serving in the military provides a young person the ability to gain a great deal of experience, while assuming a large amount of responsibility, early in life. So my family has a story about JPJ. Supposedly, our family, the Jones, took in a young sailor who had no family and came to America. He was an adult, but came to see them as his own family, and took their last name as a tribute to them, thus becoming John Paul Jones. Totally apocryphal and we have absolutely no evidence, but it’s a fun story.

Beard blaze of course, his own premier line of beard oil. I myself had a bottle gifted to me last Christmas, and it changed my life. I'm now a foot taller, twice as fit, and have dozens of beautiful women wooing me.
      Allegedly.

The Royal Navy must have been kicking themselves when they realized that a lack of family connections prevented John Paul Jones from sailing under their flags.

I am descended from the Paul family. I believe John Paul Jones was my great, great, etc, uncle. His name was crossed out of the family bible but still legible and I'm starting to understand why he was disowned. I'm proud of being related to him, but it appears he wasn't very lovable and brought dishonor on the family.

I have been to the naval academy where John Paul Jones is at. I always thought it was wild how well he was preserved. Although, there is one thing I don’t think Simon mention about ho well he was preserved. I remember the guide telling me and my class that he was in a lead coffin filled with wine. Maybe that was some BS told to kids or what. I dunno but I still remember that odd thing about that trip.

He's definitely a great man and a very talented musical genius. But to call him the father of the American Navy might be a bit misleading. Even though he did manage to glue together the wild bluesy licks of Mr. Page with the heavy hammer of the Gods from Bonham, and co-write some of musics finest pieces. Nice to finally see Zeppelin's most underrated member get the recognition he deserves! Oh, the OTHER JPJ? Who?

Learned about J.P. Jones during the bicentennial, but I'm pretty sure we just learned about the fight with H.M.S. Serapis, and that he was the father of the American navy, I have not yet begun to fight is still a pretty common expression here in the US.
