A LITTLE CLARIFICATION: Austin is not leaving HF to start a solo career. He is leaving to start a family and he wants to be home for the entire process and to have a family life in place before that happens. He has been without a home base for 15 yrs -12 yrs with HF and 3 yrs on cruise ships. It wasn't a career move. He just wants a home life now he has a wife. He would still be with HF if he weren't married. Please don't sell him short. He love the road as well. Just new priorities!
he has already started his solo career, just as Tim and Chance have. But in this point of time, being at home, not having that income from HF means he needs to find a new income stream - thus his solo career will probably be ramped up at least some.
@@nancyholter5646 Plus they are taking step to start a animal or wildlife sanctuary of some sort. He's been talking about that since the quarantine and I know Amberly has gotten some of the certification to begin the process. He will be the occasional featured performer in Home Free videos. In a video that came out just about 2 weeks ago Austin and Amberly mentioned that there will be new music (the word he used is "constantly") and just maybe something on Broadway.
Home Free had a Sea Shanty Medley that went viral. That was why Ubisoft contacted them to write the sea shanty for the game. Chance was a sea shanty aficionado so he wrote Skull and Bones
When Home Free released their "Sea Shanty Medley" during the lock down and it went viral, the game company Ubisoft saw it and was so impressed by them that they reached out to Home Free and asked if they would be interested in creating an original song for their game (which was in development) Skull and Bones. Of course they jumped on that and their one and only sea shanty enthusiast, Adam Chance stepped up and wrote this master piece. Ubisoft introduced them and their song at the Summer Game Fest 2023, along with the lyric video which is what we had until now. This video incorporates elements of the game into the story depicted in the video. Well worth the wait, love it. What an epic original sea shanty by Chance and Home Free. You can tell Ubisoft contributed a lot to this video. Many have commented that it is like a mini movie including the end credits. In the credits the female pirate is referred to as Marianne and is played by Clair Glassford. The young Marianne is played by Kate Kilclough. Looking forward to what they have next for us.
What an incredibly awesome original composition by Adam Chance. With more bottom-dwelling low notes than you can shake a stick at. There’s nothing like the ocean, no place like the sea.
It was an original written for a Ubisoft game named Skull and Bones so of course it had to be a great video and with instruments too I mean it's in the game. It's not just for them, it was commissioned.
Home Free is my favorite group. Chance have a great voice. Tim's low bass voice i love his voice. The harmonies are great and they are great singers. 😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
I think they did this song for a pirate themed game from Ubisoft (named skull & bones). Though sea chanties are probably one of the more classical genre of songs that there are in the world. Sung historically by crews all over the world to break the monotony of working somewhat repetetive jobs and also to keep themselves in the rhythym with other workers. As the description of sea shanties says: "The shanty was quite simply a working song that ensured sailors involved in heavy manual tasks, such as tramping round the capstan or hoisting the sails for departure, synchronised individual efforts to efficiently execute their collective task, i.e. simply making sure that each sailor pushed or pulled, at precisely the right moment."
There are 2 other versions, a lyric video and a short live version for the Ubisoft crowd. Chance wrote a banger! Also the Bass Gang did a cover of this song. So much fun! 😍
Actually, Austin said he wanted to be at home a lot to start a family. He will still do some things with Home Free. He lives close to Tim Faust and they have already done some video's with Tim.
A bit of nautical trivia. In the video you see the girl "scrubbing the ship's deck." In days of old to clean and sand stains and splinters (Sailors seldom wore shoes on ship, preferring to go barefoot.), the sailors would wet the decks with sea water. Then they used stones, roughly the size of bibles back then. Since the sailors were on their knees (praying for the work to be over?) it was known as "holy stoning" the deck.
this is up there with voiceplay yoho-the girl btw is an upcoming actress and can be followed on you tube-her name is given with the credits at end-for no voice she acts and shows her emotions well-hope to see more of her.
How fun that a wench rose to the rank of Captain of the Pirate ship of Skull and Bones!!!! 🏴☠ Home Free keeps breaking ground and they are a true leader in video productions and the amount of video productions. They simply are an epic group and making us all proud!! ❣
Thank you for another great reaction video. Maggie, have you ever reacted to Home Free's cover of Folsom Prison Blues? If not, I think you would really enjoy it. .
Enjoyed this Maggie, the production team hired by the video game company, of coarse would have a much higher budget! They came to Home Free after seeing their sea shanty medley! Adam Chance is an extreme sea shanty buff so Home Free knew that he should be the one to write it! Adam singing the entire song in the low octave and then Tim singing the entire song in an octave lower than Adam. Very low in some places! Gives a bunch of scallywags sound to the sound, too cool! Great video and great job Maggie! Low bass Kenneth
Austin is leaving the group to stay home and start a family. He’s been traveling non stop for 10 years. Covid showed him how much he loved being home. He will still be making music but focus is on home.
The Bass Gang do a great cover of this. I love the Home Free version, too. Great reaction! I also suggest The Bass Gang's new song with Ekaterina Shelhelova. It's a similar vibe.❤❤
You know youve made it big as an acapella group when you do an origional song and another acapella group does a cover of it, in this case its The Bass Gang, honestly their version might be a little better, or at least better than the first recording that was released
This is cool, I like this pirate theme stuff. Very catchy, I found myself doing the arm sling swing. I was reading in the comments about Austin leaving because he's starting a family. I applaud him for prioritizing family life, and wish him the best of luck. Also that child who will have his or her dad present at their sports games, or school plays, and graduation. I love your reactions Maggie, and your vocal course helps me, even though I've been inactive for quite some time.
This is not your typical home free. Ubisoft approached them to make a song for their game in Adam. Chance killed it. In the beginning that was Tim's low notes. You're going to have to check out some other videos for the skull and bones cuz he gets deep. It is the best sea shanty song I have ever heard in my life. Now you have other groups like the best gang who did the same version. Just not as good. Don't get me wrong. The base gang is good. But home free is just spot on with this song and the video is fantastic. Don't know if you know us but the young girl was the lady they grew up.
I'm sure you already know, but in case you don't. The Bass Gang did a cover of this. On another note, fun pirate facts! Fact 1. The stereotype where they always wore eyepatches is actually true and not just pirates, a lot of sailors with two good eyes did. It was to help their eyes adjust to above and below deck. If you keep one eye closed or covered when moving into light from a dark place (such as below deck) only the open/uncovered eye will adjust to the light. Then if you go back to where its dark, you can switch eyes and you'll immediately be able to see. After learning this, I now keep one eye closed when getting up to use the bathroom at night, then I don't have to stumble through the dark on my way back to bed. Fact 2. The famous accent with the super hard R sounds *was a real accent.* It was an accent that was from a European colony in the Caribbean, and several famous pirates were from there. It became a stereotype that pirates talked that way, and hundreds of years later, its still going strong. *We* got it from books like Treasure Island, but the stereotype is much older. The first known record of the stereotype is actually from a cartoon in a 1700's newspaper. A random woman and a pirate are talking and the pirate says 'shiver me timbers' in surprise to something the woman told him.
This is a video that Ubisoft produced sort of like a trailer for their game. They held this until the game was actually released. The instruments are added because this is produced specifically for Ubisoft.
Austin is leaving because he wants to be home and start a family. He will produce music, but will not be going on tour and do things like that. If you watch his announcement video He and his wife explain it. It is also refreshing to hear someone say they are not getting a tattoo.
Didn't think I'd see anymore Home Free on your channel after the copyright issues you ran into. Did that all get cleared up with their management company?
If you love the whole pirate theme, and if you haven't seen it yet, you should check out a 4 season series by STARZ called "Black Sails." It's written as a prequel to the famous adventure story "Treasure Island" by Robert Louis Stevenson, published in 1883. The novel is actually the source for a lot of the stereotypes of piracy we have today(X marks the spot, peglegs and parrots and the like). The show itself is more historically accurate to that era than the vast majority of television or movies, with some creative liberties taken of course. It blends real historical figures with characters in the novel. The writing, acting, and score are phenomenal, it's just a masterpiece of modern entertainment, and actually has a satisfying conclusion to every plot point and character. Fair warning though, some scenes(one I'm thinking of in particular) might take a rather strong stomach to get through. the entire show has a rather dark tone to it, and it has some of the most realistic and brutal depictions of death and execution I've ever seen on screen.
Wasn't that great! We've been waiting for this official video by Home Free for awhile now. It felt like watching a movie. Home free is so talented & they can do any genre of music. Chance loves sea shanties & he wrote this song for the game "Skull & Bones". His deeper voice sounded great for this song. And of course all the background harmonies of the guys including Adam's fabulous vocal percussion.
A first rate job they did with this one. Great song and good vid. Just one minor criticism of the video, a nerdy one. You don't Holy Stone across the grain of the wood!
Cool production and Home Free's usual, but unusual outstanding performance. Don't really understand the female component to this, too bad she didn't sing, but...

Maggie did a reaction to the Home Free "Sea Shanty Medley", and loved it.....
Their live version is good too, with the game in the background.

Chance is a wonderful lead in this, backed up Tim's booming bass. But Rob in the chorus! Wonderful!
Chance......lord have mercy!!
My son is a gamer. Ubisoft has been around for a long time and they went from the equivalent of 4 guys in a basement to BIG and trendsetting.
I really enjoy hearing Chance using his lower register. He has such a smooth voice and I hope we will hear more of him in the lead

Just amazing as always. Home free is by far the best acapella band that I know of. Others are great, but I always come back to HF.

Chance has am amazing voice i love the HF videos wjere he sings lead. His voice is like warm honey.
The Bass Gang did a cover of this that's amazing.
Home Free still the best
Home Free is #1!!!!
Bass Gang even claimed Home Free’s is better (or one of the members did, anyway). I concur.
This song just makes you want to become a Pirate and buy an electric Pirate ship and work at a Pirate Renaissance Festival.

Theres a video from Austin " Why Im Leaving HF" explains everything
You would be an awesome pirate. I love stories of piracy and sea battles involving this period sailing ships.
And of course my fingers! Zack. Check out the base gang. They did a version themselves
I forgot to say about Adam the beatboxer is the best beatboxer of Home Free. 😊❤❤❤❤❤❤

one said in a video that leaving to primarily work on building a family
The girl in this is joined the video as a player of the game
Checkout the dreadnoughts they done lot of sea shantys it similar but different
you should check out their song Quarantine
The video for "Brother" is also one with a bit more production value.
Have you seen "Master and Commander" with Russell Crowe. Not exactly pirates, but close and several really interesting characters. 🤠

if you like pirates and sea shanties, may i suggest the longest johns
It says a lot about their production team when you claim that their highly produced videos look "casual".
This is a Drinking Song but they Cleaned it up...😁
If you like pirate stuff give Sail North a try

Oops sorry Adam chance my bad
I really wish that everyone doing reaction video would stop using Home Free. Why react to a cover? React to the original artist’s
I think you got your wish for an original one as Adam Chance wrote this for a game, plus home free have many original songs out there.
🙄🙄Your point being? The original artist of this song IS Home Free!!!
👍❤️❤️
