    thanks johnny for the honest review...., i say honest because i already know what your talking about is true. you see i bought a jackery 500 for my cabin based on your review of the 240. i can now do all the things i used to do with the generator.... only without the noise! i bring it back home with me for emergencies. as it only weights 13lb. i could not be happier!

      A lot of the time it's small power over a long period that is needed eg laptop etc, that's where these really shine. Running a genny at 1.5l of fuel an hour all day long just doesn't make any sense. Not to mention the noise and smell. Have you thought of adding solar panels to the roof of your cabin?

      And the best part of that bottle of Sauvignon blanc ;)
      I'm hoping they send me the 1000 - I could run the whole boat off of it!

    A pretty decent vlog. You weren't twisting arms, but told us what we wanted to know. Haven't seen them over here yet, and curious about pricing, but no rush. Thanks Johnny, take care.

      They're on Amazon, not cheap though I'm afraid, but that's lithium for you. A proper branded 100ah lithium battery on its own is over a thousand quid (eg Relion). And these Jackery things have mppt solar controller, 240v sinewave and 12v/5v outlets as you know. I don't see them coming down in price anytime soon, best bet is to become a boater and get one for free ;)

      Yep, I love 'em, so many uses hence I do the reviews, it's not like they are forcing me. I love solar in general. The panels on my roof, well, I wouldn't want to be aboard without them now.

      @@ProjectNarrowboat No I do think it's very refreshing watching you work and explain all aspects of boat life. I'm currently in the Royal Navy but retiring in 2 years we are selling our home and moving into a widebeam as a family, I'm burnt out with life and financial ties and your life looks like what we need. I will keep tuned to your channel mate.

      @@076daver it's a fair bit of work, living on a narrowboat. if you get a well appointed widebeam, ie plenty solar, built in genny, large water tank, double glazing etc etc , you should be ok!

    Well another review and another mixed bag of comments - fair enough. The usual weekly videos are unaffected so those not interested don't have to watch the reviews. In fact I'm just editing this Fridays episode, courtesy of power from the Jackery!

    I've seen quite a few of the Jackory reviews by other vloggers on the cut, but I think yours has been the most comprehensive. I can see this as quite a good alternative source of power for hubby and I when we do our demonstrations at craft fairs, generators are usually frowned on and we're not always guaranteed a power supply. Thank you and stay safe.

    • @ProjectNarrowboat
      @ProjectNarrowboat  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks - these are very good for where you want a smallish amount of power, over a long period of time - a generator would be most wasteful under those conditions. Not to mention noisy and stinky!

    I bought a jackery 240 about 3 weeks ago and I've noticed something that I may just be overthinking about, and I'm trying to get other owners of the 240's opinion. I've noticed that when watching videos here on TH-cam that on some units, even like the 500 and 300 when you plug in charger to charge that the light is blue when charging and turns green when done. I've never saw a detailed video on the 240 to see if it acts the same when its done charging. Mine never turns green. It will charge up to 100% and the watts will taper down, slowly going to zero and the charger box even gets cold, from not pushing out anymore power, but the light never turns green, it always stays blue. The unit seems to function fine, and I even left it plugged up for like 12 hours just to make sure, but it never changes to green, it stays blue. Can anyone else who owns a 240 confirm if theirs stays blue or does turn green? Like I say, any other time I wouldn't think anything of it, but it's got me questioning why the 240 stays blue but the other units turn green when done

    • @ProjectNarrowboat
      @ProjectNarrowboat  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just checked mine, the led stays blue, as it does on rhe 500. Maybe earlier or later models have the two colours? But the 500 does do that thing with the lcd display when it reaches full charge, not sure if the 240 does.

      @@ProjectNarrowboat thanks for replying, I appreciate it. Yeah there may be differences between when unit when they were manufactured. I wish jackery would update their manuals to reflect.

      Hi Chris, it's your view and that is fair enough. I have to say though, even once I sort out my domestic batteries, having these things about the place does give me a sense of security - when you are off grid, you've got what you've got and no more.
