Oh to turn the clock back 66 years when I used to journey from Paddington to Torquay on the 12.00 noon departure "The Torbay Express". The return fare in those days was 48/- Happy Days indeed.
Hi Tim and thank you once more for kind feedback. I thought it best to concentrate on something other than the cap this time - but you can't ignore it, especially with the laughter in the background. Alan
That You've Been Framed moment never fails to make me laugh. However.... Sunshine was the order of a mild summertime day. Kingswear Station was all a-bustle. One young man and his girlfriend decided to chance a last-minute walk over the ramp crossing; very dangerous. "Oi, you!" shouted a police officer. "Can't you see Nunney Castle is about to move forwards?" "But we can make it," argued the lady. "You wanna get yourselves killed? Go ahead!" The lady shivered. Her partner was bolder it seemed. "Peep!" whistled Nunney Castle shrilly. "I have the right of way. Anyone who dares cross in front of me gets it good and proper!" The man and his girlfriend took no notice. They strolled along the crossing, as Nunney Castle began gradually picking up speed. "Peep!" she whistled again, louder and more angrily than before. The sound was deafening. The young couple broke into a run. It ended in disaster. The lady escaped but her boyfriend tripped over the rail, forgetting to look where he was going. Nunney Castle ran over the unfortunate fellow and killed him. Nunney Castle and her Torbay Express train disappeared, leaving the lady sobbing and her partner dead. The lady walked away badly shaken. Her boyfriend's lifeless body was removed from the track. The lady was banned from visiting the Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway forever. I think she deserved her punishment, don't you?😠
Wonderful shots of Nunney Castle leaving Kingswear, also great long distance shots of the train approaching Teignmouth!

The Castle class aesthetically beautiful, and how nice to a complete rake of MK 1s in choc I late and cream.
Reminds me of Paddington in the early 60s
Glad to have brought back happy memories. Best regards, Alan
