I'm applying to Canada as an international student.. should I focus my personal statement on a social challenge in my home country or use something prevailing in Canada?

I would say focus it on a topic you are passionate about and can relate back to the social work profession. If you want to make the connection to Canada I would say give it a few sentences where you compare the social problem in your home country to something currently taking place in Canada.
