For the life of me I could not get this cutting I got from the Botanical Garden to survive. It barely grew in water and instantly rotten putting in soil. I finally tried this with the last leaf I had and after 2+ months I have little babies growing from each leaf piece. Totally mind blown this worked. Now need to build a humidity dome and transfer each plant to its own pot. Might try just one to test and hope it doesn't die.

Hello, your video is very useful but I really don't know what to do with my begonia rex....I'm so sad. Once received, after a few days, the plant started to die...I divided the plant in two because I checked the roots. They looked safe. Since then some new leaves are growing but generally the two plants don't seem to be well. Water as much as they require (I hope). Light ok (until now indoor, but now I moved them outdoor in a shadowed area). How can I solve the problem?

You place the cutting in wet soil for rooting?...is tht what you call rooting medium?

I think my soil mix (I add worm castings and a crushed lobster/crab shell mix) maybe the reason for my first begonia disaster. Im trying again today. Do you make your own soil?

since you just got her definitely wait to repot! repotting causes stress for the plants and they likely are already stressed from travel and new conditions. I recommend keeping them in their nursery pots for at least a few weeks until they can get acclimated to a new environment. and you really only need to repot them if they need more space or if the pot they're in isn't the best, as far as I know
I dont own this plant, but i learned that you should only repot if the plant is root bound. So when the plants roots start pipping out of the holes under the pot, its ready for repotting😊

Hi! I just got my first rex begonia about a week ago. When I got it, some of its stems and leaves were already not looking healthy. Now more and more are wilting. I have watered it twice since I got it. The leaves are also wilting but I can see new growth. May I ask what could the reason be?
Your plant is adjusting to your home and don’t over water
Make sure not to water too much. Make sure it’s pretty dry before watering or they will rot.

Hi! It can be because of overwatering, as a result you have root rot. You have to check roots

Hi - I’m writing from Singapore. I tried to propagate begonia Rex thru stem cutting and leaf cutting as you demonstrated.
I planted the cut leaves into individual cups like you do and water them before placing them at bright and airy corner at the car porch away from direct sun.
However after a few days the planted leaves turn black and died.
What can be the reason?

It most likely is not getting enough humidity. They dry out and get crispy if it’s dry in your home.
Gorgeous! My Rexy died, and I am propagating some from a few of the leaves from the old plant. Some I cut up and put in soil, and two I just put in a cup of water. All are sprouting now, so hopefully they will end up growing into a nice full plant again. I know it will take a long time, but I'm hoping it works out into a healthy adult plant like yours. I have four or five little plantlets currently

Why? Soil has to slightly dry out between watering. I water my begonias almost once in a week
