The "stick" how you called it, its a Gaderffii, or Gaffi stick, its a traditional melee weapon of the Tusken Raiders of Tatooine. It was a pole weapon with a spike or blade on one end and some kind of bludgeoning instrument on the other.

Remember, Boba didn't get the combat programming of the clones and his dad died before he could complete his Mandalorian training. Boba was good with guns and had a badass ship and armor but had no particular hand-to-hand skills, so of course the Tuskens would be training him.

I'd wager the gaffi stick scenes were put in because of Temuera Morrison, as they seem to be very heavily based on traditional Maori martial art (hell - there's a clip of Temuera doing a haka in his armour on the set of Mandalorian s2e6).

I think we'll probably see him rescue Fennec in flashbacks before we're completely done with them, but yeah. We probably will see more present-day stuff in coming episodes.
The Tuskens may even come into play in the present. BTW, the elite Tusken Warrior is played by a professional stuntwoman, and that's why you saw her doing all these badass stunts and fight choreography. lol
On that note, I assume their robes are made of natural materials that keep the heat out and deal with sweat. They probably shouldn't be wearing black, but the right materials would do a bunch of good even in the hot desert.
The place the bike gang was terrorizing BTW was Tosche Station where Luke wanted to pick up power converters and hang out with his friends in A New Hope. In fact, said friends (Camie and Fixer) were in that scene being harassed by the bikers. Cool that they still hang out there. The characters were obviously recast since the original actors aren't that young anymore, but it's awesome to include them here since the scenes with them didn't make it into the final cut of A New Hope.

Showing the Tusken people in this way made what Anakin did EVEN more rephrensible. Only someone unfamiliar with their culture and or ignorant of their ways would refer to them as savages and animals. Who knows how Shmi came by her wounds..Tusken take captives and prisoners we have never seen them torture outsiders outright. They have been seen only to kill those who trespass into their territory or attack them as a means of self preservation, defense, and scavenging.

Well that leader said that other tribes have survived by killing. I would assume that means not every tribe acts the same way, some more aggressively than others. I don’t imagine we’re supposed to think she was injured by other means, she was just doing chores and was kidnapped. They clearly weren’t caring for her, they had her strung up, and she was clinging to life until Anakin found her
Not to say what Anakin did wasn’t reprehensible, but that tribe wasn’t exactly innocent. But they all shouldn’t be looked at negatively
