u have to visit the slums of west schicago, btw for ages the west exploited INDIA and garnered AWARDS filming its filthy poverty, good you did the same though on a small scale, will consider it as a beginning!
Pls do not get my intentions wrong, this wasn’t to put the USA in poor light. In spite of all such things, I personally think US is amazing in most realms and probably one of the best places to live in … or else. We would not choose this to be our home. It’s just showing the sections of people that choose to live this way… they have the resources to better their life.. ifs not because of the lack of resources like many other poor countries…. But this situation is only coz of their mindset that these people chose this life style…. It’s a lifestyle choice for many of them… absolutely not coz of the economy or the lack of opportunities
@@RaviTeluguTraveller Absolutely not, I mean not my intentions either, appreciate the empathy an Indian have over a country which gave him/her the opportunity to thrive irrespective of caste creed or religion and on that lines America is miles ahead rest of the world; I was just referring to the other side of the coin which every country does have, and ecstasy certain film makers hold to showcase the same. Homelessness అమెరికాలో ఎప్పుడూ ఉంది. నేను 83 లో చికాగో వచ్చాను. LA కన్నా చికాగో homeless గా ఉండడం అంటే చలి కారణంగా చాలా కష్టం. అయినా అప్పటికి ఇప్పటికీ ముష్టి వాళ్ళు ఉంటారు. ఉద్యోగాలు చేస్తూ కనీస వేతనం ఇప్పటికీ తక్కువ ఉండడం కారణంగా అంటే Walmart లాంటి చోట పని చేసే వాళ్ళలో కొందరు government assistance మీద బతుకుతున్నారు. మన తెలుగులో రెక్కాడితే నే డొక్కాడు తుంది అన్న సామెత లాగే pay check to pay check అంటే నెలసరి జీతం మీదే నడుస్తోంది. ఏ కారణంగా నైనా ఉద్యోగం పోతే అంతే సంగతులు. ఇటువంటి ముష్టివాళ్ళలో ఎక్కువమంది సైనికులు యుద్ధం నుంచి తిరిగి వచ్చి, మానసిక రోగంతో బాధపడుతూ ,a కారణంగా వ్యసనాలకు బానిస అయిన వాళ్ళు ఉంటారు. ఏది ముందు ఏది పర్యవసానం అన్నది చెప్పడం కష్టం, అంటే మానసిక అనారోగ్యం, వ్యసనాలు.
నేను ప్రస్తుతం Texas లో ఉంటున్నాను. ఇక్కడ ఒక సంస్థ ఉంది. Foodnotbombs అన్నది ఉంది. వాళ్ళు vegan food ఇలా ముష్టివాళ్లకి weekends లో పెడతారు. నేను కూడా వండడానికి వెళుతూ ఉంటాను.

In Hollywood movies and even our own Indian/Telugu movies, they mostly show India as being riddled with poverty while US/Europe is flooded with richness. Hollywood movies which show India in horrible situations (like Slumdog Millionaire) get Oscars. That's the stereotype propagated by the media. I hate that. Every country has good things and bad things, but the depiction is very skewed.
In Washington DC, just a few blocks from the White House, you'll see dozens of homeless people, including veterans. They don't even have tents. They use plastic covers or cardboard boxes as shelter.

Thanks for this blog Ravi. Living in LA so happy to see your video of my city. Raj did a great job in showing different side of LA. There are many non-profit organizations that work along side with volunteers to help the homeless community but it's hard to get them back on track mostly due to addictions or mental health or other issues. It's sad to see them living in dangerous conditions 😪

Am sure you can find rough sleepers almost in every corner of the world. I think its not about why they're on road as this percentage is quiet huge globally but its about what made them go on road. I hope one day someone will give unbiased view of the society. Good work distributing food packs to them.
