Anything Jack Smith will do should have been done a year or more ago. The failure of the DOJ to act in a timely manner has allowed these criminals to continue to attack our democracy unabated. The damage they have done is incalculable. It’s about time someone cut the crap and get the job done.

Brian, it's not that Garland took his time to do his job. This was a calculated and clever move to separate government from politics. Jack Smith was well thought out to work hand in hand with Garland so he can continue to oversee the DOJ and still get Donny by the balls with the fearless Jack the Ripper.

I'm a retired paralegal and I LOVE this stuff. I always get a kick out of these people who think they can weasel out of having to obey the law by using some lame excuse. Honestly, where the hell are people like Trump and Pence finding attorneys stupid enough to try and pull these stunts? Is there some sort of section on Craig's List called "Ambulance Chasers" that they look at to find these dumbbells? One might give them a hint that trying to yank the chain of a Federal judge is not going to serve them well. One has to wonder if these so-called "attorneys" slept through law school. I have never worked for a lawyer who would try an pull something like this. And I've known a couple of Federal judges who would have admonished them severely had they tried. It's great to see Jack Smith finally do something that actually may result in Trump having to suffer the consequences for his actions. I'm still not convinced that Trump is ever going to actually be indicted for anything. When I see him in cuffs being escorted to appear in front of a judge, I'll get more excited. In the meantime, the lead up show is worth watching.

I was honestly wondering if the jury forewoman would have any negative effects on the investigation, glad they cleared that up. She was being very careful with what she said, she did well IMO.

I called everything, including what the supreme court did recently, in 2016. I had a conversation about how Trump's administration could dismantle democracy. They did everything.
It's not rocket science, he was using old historically accurate playbooks of those that already did. He was using Hitler's method mostly.....
Anyway, my Republican and Trump friend at the time waived me off saying, "We have too many checks and balances..."
It's disturbing. I could see it. Some others spoke out then too, those informed on these old valid dismantling methods would know. The experts spoke out later about fascism, but not loud or early enough to stop it. They were hesitant to bring it up in the beginning though, it's kind of taboo to talk about in political situations unless the situation is dire/exposed already.
I just didn't call the pandemic, I said he'd do it his second term and he rushed all that stuff because the pandemic made trump jump the g u n. Anyway, everyone became aware of it when Jan 6th made it obvious.
It was always insidiously there though and the plans/methods were noticed by those informed on history.
In 2015, I predicted Trump would be impeached if elected - but not twice.

I personally believe that things were so messed up when Merrick Garland was put into office that he didn't know which way to turn first. It was one man in a new office (not really knowing who is loyal and who is not) and a many faceted, monster-huge pile of troubles just waiting for justice (all of which were ignored or pushed aside by Garland's predecessors). I am grateful that Garland woke up, realized the American people are not just going to let this mess slide with no repercussions and assigned Jack Smith to handle this part (and boy is he ever getting the job done). Merrick Garland has plenty of other work to do and many more problems to apply some justice to. America cannot afford to let this huge mess "slide" without prosecution or it becomes a huge "practice run" for how to hold a coup d'etat to overthrow the US government. *Merrick Garland and Jack Smith will not let that happen, they are true American patriots!*

Except for one thing: American law is not that tight. For some odd reason. It appears that from the beginning of time in the US, there are escape clauses to shield Americans from the truth. Something to ponder right?

Oh this is good to hear. I'm tired of justice being continuously and unnecessarily delayed. I'm glad that Jack Smith isn't going to put up with this tactic.
The delays exist because injustice has happened too often in the past. So, they adjusted the system to create some chance to undo harm. Think forced confessions. Think of the people exonerated by DNA evidence after 20 years in prison... it’s complicated. And scum like Trump use the rules to the fullest. (And Stone. His deposition in a case is super creepy. He challenges them to find the evidence. With a feral grin.)

It might be that Jack Smith was brought in specifically to be aggressive, since Merrick Garland isn't & couldn't let any of his investigations look politically motivated.
I'm sure Jack Smith has all the information that any DOJ investigations, under a quiet Merrick Garland, have produced.
This would definitely give political cover for Garland, and allow Jack Smith to quickly focus his time and energy on the main players.

I don't think so. A pre-emptive motion is unusual, but would probably not meet the requirements for a mistrial.

I got to give some credit to Garland because he knew Jake Smith’s reputation as a pit bull prosecutor and he chose Smith to prosecute Trump. Garland definitely knew he was getting heat for not moving fast enough, so he rectified that by sicking Jack Smith on Trump. Props to Merrick Garland.

Seeing this from abroad, I find it incredible that it should take so long to indict a criminal. And then, I remember that he is a former President, and it becomes clearer.
Garland may very well put everything under the rug and pretend that it would all look “too political”, especially since trump is now a declared presidential candidate, and the indictments would come out in the heart of the campaign. Garland has played this game before, hasn’t he?

I am sickened that a past Vice President of our country, does not want to give testimony to the Grand Jury. He took an oath to protect and serve our country. He should never be allowed to serve in any government position again at the very least. Don’t ever tell me he is a patriot.
