    I don't know if many women take up the doumbek/darbuka, but, at 53, I hate that I am just now discovering it. Where has it been all the years of my life? Good thing we're never too old to learn something new, right? Thank you, young man for posting these lessons. You are an awesome teacher. I must be improving too, because the cats have stopped running away when I pick up the drum. When I have mastered the rhythm in this first lesson, I'll definitely move on to the next lesson... and the next lesson... and the next. This instrument is a joy... and so is your teaching. You are a gift. Again, thank you.

      The whole same shit!😉 I actually think that I’m found the best teacher from who I really want to learn😍 my only one problem is that I have the “aluminum” Darbuka with straight borders. But I couldn’t find anything in terms of tutorials for that kind of Darbuka.. I mean, the playing basics should be the same, But the fine-tuning details are different -I realized it when I was testing this kind of “doumbek” in comparison to one of mine… Even though the playing feeling is also different & sound, so I’ve definitely decided to buy another one))) and now I’m really happy to find the best tutorial on youtube😍

    I'm really enjoying your series! Very clear and engaging--love it!
    My main problem now seems to be posture...
    I've been playing djembe for years but just picked up darbuka, and I'm having problems with my right shoulder getting tired and sore after 15-20 minutes of practice.
    I assume there's something wrong with my posture, but I can't seem to figure it out. Relaxing/dropping my shoulder hasn't seemed to make much difference, and I'm pretty sure years of djembe would have conditioned my muscles better than this by now. Any advice?

    Gratitude Brother! One bad issue: It is when I place my left arm ( with the side of the elbow touching the drum body) to support the darbuka and keep it in place while playing. I'm trying to place the arm the same way I see you doing it. If I play the KA, there is a nerve in the elbow that moves while attacking the left hand into the drum and it hurts in the elbow (very sharp pain for an instant because it lightly hits the body of the darbuka). Is this happens only with me or there's a trick to avoid that pinch in the elbow's nerve? Thanks for sharing precious information! You're the best!

    • @jstntlvr
      @jstntlvr 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just play with the arm position to find a comfortable spot that avoids the problem. Try to slightly lift your elbow when you strike.
