    It's my go to screen capture tool for Windows and it's now available for Mac as well! I probably use ShareX 40 - 50 times a day. Hope you like it as much as I do. I also suggested a change to allow the step numbers (I) to allow starting the sequence from Zero (0) and not One (1) and they implemented the change into prod within a month :-) Thanks ShareX team you are fantastic.

    Damn it, got super excited about it being open source but it seems that it relies on dotnet framework so a Linux port would be highly non-trivial. Definitely be considering it if I ever need to use Windows as a main machine again though.

    I've used ShareX on my windows. It's good but I always seem to go to Snagit which seems more polished overall. I also use Snagit on the Mac but sometimes the built in mac screenshot too just to grab stuff from clipboard without saving (Snagit saves everything requiring housecleaning later on)

    Hi Chris, great video as always! That being said, I have a question: do you know of any good alternatives for Linux, namely that can upload images to a custom server? Flameshot is great, but I don't want to upload to imgur, I want to upload to a private server. Any suggestions?

    • @ChrisTitusTech
      @ChrisTitusTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very good tool, Chris. Thank you for being & sharing the open source innovation & ingenuity spirit!
    BUT... lately I prefer to use cross-OS & cross-CPU tools that can work equally on Linux, Android, Win10, & maybe Apple devices. It's easier to learn one app than several.

  • @failxontour
    @failxontour 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've been recommended the program in 2016 by a gamerbuddy surprisingly it has seem to be given a bit more accessability. I think it just used to only have workflows iirc anyway and not to many uploading services though it has always promoted imgur i tend to stick away from it as ShareX i belive has no builds for Linux.
    FlameShot on the other hand has a bit more editing options right out of the gate, such as bluring, annotations what I still want it to feature in the future is active window snapping, as of right now you can I belive just take an entire screen screenshot or pixel based one.
    Not based on active, focused window. What I also like is that Flameshot is simple, small and can be portable.
    Snip & Sketch is ultra simple as UWP app but lacks features from snipping tool such as delayed screenshots. But featured direct copies to the clipboard so, eh whats annoying is the consant preview on any screenshot even whole screen ones. And well it's biggest drawback has to be it's only shipped via Microsoft Store, though in newer Windows versions somehow baked in certain ways.

    The best is techsmith snagit because it is able to do thigs like no other capturer. But ShareX is good first of all because it's open source and free. And Microsoft's Snip & Sketch is good too. If you have proper clipboard manager, you don't need to manage all screenshots instantly, they are just waiting in clipboard.

    it would be interesting to have a screen capture program that can run a script and run programs one by one, wait x-seconds then take a snapshot and save it to a folder. This would be useful for running games that are emulated so that a library of game captures can be created without having to manually run each game and print-screen it, paste into photoshop then save it. I'm not aware of a program that can do this?

    It's the second video I click on that is about Windows and therefore I don't care about. Dude for SO much time you uploaded mainly Linux content. I get that you want to diversify your channel and I accept it, but given that a great chunk of your viewerbase subscribed for Linux content, you could at least make your titles more clear. It's not that hard, all I am asking is for you to add a Windows/Linux/Multi-Platform word in there, in order for me (and others) to know if a video is relevant to us. If you don't respect our time, why would we want to stick around? You are smarter than that.

    This isn't a screen capture tool, it's a screen capture uploader tool. The first screen capture I took, it wanted to upload somewhere. I hadn't set anything up, so I clicked no. The region tool wants to auto select every window you move it over, which is idiotic because there is already a capture window option. It is completely over-complicated for a screen capture tool, the OCR tool uploads everything to the internet and it seems to want to be running all the time, which is completely not necessary. The UI and configuration menus are a complete mess, just like most open source programs. After messing with this for about 15 minutes I uninstalled. I would rather use the snipping tool than this thing.
