I’ve always used windex on my vinyl graphics. Just dab them when you have them in place like you would water applied decals with something to make sure you have all the windex out from underneath. As they dry the sticky comes back. I’ve tried the spray and preferred windex. Don’t remember why since it’s been almost 20 yrs.

Really nice work on the F18. Freewing is the best. Great video James.

Apply the decal for the tail wet using a mild soapy solution and water. Use Callies application instructions for doing that

With the decals gloss the service first with gloss coat, apply the decals maybe in thirds if it’s to large to apply in one section.
Flat coat the model when finished.

Easiest way to make your airbrake is going to be thermoplastic splinting material. Cut to rough shape, boil or steam until pliable, lay on model and form using tongue depressers or spudging tool, then cut to final dimensions and paint. No CAD needed and can be made as a single piece instead of having to have a joint if your 3d print volume is less than the airbrake footprint. It is also reformable over and over so you can get the perfect fit.

This is a great idea! Thanks for the tips!

@@MotionRC side note: I did the maiden on my L-39 today, pretty sure the gyro in the Admiral receiver or the receiver itself freaked out. Just completed a turn to land, wings were level, and it did a nose dive full throttle straight into the ground... About the only thing salvageable are the ESC, MCB-E, and EDF... Have you seen anything like this happen before? Any possibility of at least a partial credit on the ARF+ L-39 for me to transplant the electronics into?

Decal application: See Callie's instruction page. Definitely apply the bigger ones using wet application technique. I would just let it warp over the ridges, not cut anything.

Think about this, paint the tail white. The white can be cut out just around hard areas. Air brake, maybe cut out. Put spring hinges, and hold down w/ earth mags.

    • @MotionRC

Oooh. I like that idea. Just painted the tails white today, going to wait until tomorrow to tackle those tail decals

Still a working air brake would be pretty cool you could do it with a small 5 gram servo to keep the weight down

How about you show elevator neutral position when you show jets, not always clear in manual, and much clearer if you point out it on camera.

I’d get one of these and do it as a JOLLY ROGERS. Also the F-14 would be cool if they did a version of the GI Joe F-14.

Don't put two drop tanks under the wings of the C model. C Models NEVER had 2 drop tanks under each wing. It will just look silly.....SMDH You need a tech advisor...

@@MotionRC A real F/A-18A/B/C/D can only use a maximum of 3 drop tanks. One on the centerline and one on each inboard wing pylon. The outboard under-wing pylons are not "wet". The image in your video is probably a cargo/baggage pod on the outboard pylon. The Hornet NATOPS manual details the fuel system, section 2-2. An F/A-18E/F Super Hornet can use a maximum of 5, one centerline and two on each wing.

    • @Cowboylifesaver

@@MotionRC Those are ALL E or F models not A, B, C, or D. There's not even connections for drop tanks on the outer pylons on the C model. On rare occasion they will carry a luggage pod (WW2 style drop tank) on an outside pylon, but they are small and funny looking on them. Trust me I'm a Legacy Hornet Mechanic.
