I grew up watching the Blue Angles at Seafair here in Seattle, my Dad was a Firefighter at Boeing Field where they takeoff and land, and several times I was able to get in one of the reserve F18c Jets. I did notice they aren't the most well funded group, there was allot of broken parts and stuff taped together on all the Jets, several of the pilots complained that they had to piece together allot of stuff, I always thought they were new planes, but they are far from that. Still I cannot wait to get one of these for my collection, I love the F18 and I cannot wait to fly mine around next Seafair weekend
Me Too! (About the Blues at SeaFair part) My dad used to drive limited hydroplanes so he took me to see the racing, but we both had an interest in aviation as well, as it had been a part of our family’s history. So the Blues were very impressive and important to growing that spark of interest in aviation (the other impressive thing being the NASA Space Shuttles I’d watch on TV). One of my fondest memories of the Boeing Seafair Airshow was not just the Blues, but the 2015 F-22 Raptor Demo which introduced me to it. That’s another plane on my RC wishlist. As I got into RC, I knew I had to have a Blue Angel. Unfortunately my *competitive brand* 80mm F/A-18D had issues and crashed on maiden. So, I’ll be getting this one! I already bought the Freewing grey version for a DIY project but it will also serve as a trainer for the Blue Angel. Can’t wait to fly it!
I had an older hand launch version of this and I loved it. The F-18 was one of the smoothest flying jets Ive ever flown and the profile is tough to beat. Sweet unit for sure!
@@MotionRC Oh yeah my friend. Now that would be some great flying time for EDF. Finally dream came true for jet lovers. I know that someday they will make baterries that will give us at least 8 minutes of flying. I do use pack of 6200mAh 3S on a bird or two for extra sweet minute. But Iam really impressed here that you were flying 90mm one for more them 4 minutes. Perfect.
He's such a good pilot, you almost forget that they aren't real jets at times. I've wanted to get into this hobby for years, having watched dozens of your videos lately, I'm finally going to do so. Maybe not with this jet first, but It might have to be my secind, it looks amazing....
My second plane, first jet is the 80mm F16 and I mastered it by now, I'm about 6 weeks into the hobby. I do have over 70 hours of Real Flight simulator though and it has definitely helped me out a lot. Landing jets is not easy, I had some rough landings on my F16 at first but after 5 flights I got her tamed.
As they say in the Navy "Bravo Zulu" which translates to well done! My brother flew the P-3 Orion sub chaser with VP-24...would love to see a scale P-3 Orion one day! This one's a must have for me!
Damn hot landings lol - but I guess the tight surroundings forces that. I bet with a 100% tuned CG, she could be landed at about two thirds of that speed.
James, can you mention what control throws you use, verse what is in manual and flap/elevator mix is always helpful for maiden flights. Showing lipo placement is a must also to get a starting point.
I got into turbine jets and said I would not buy EDF jets again. Well I was wrong! This legacy hornet is bad ass and the best part is the Blue Angels paint scheme. I will for sure be buying this one in Blue Angels colors.
I would like it even more if it was all done up in gray, with missles..wheew..that would be awesome. Still. It's a beautiful plane...great job freewing/motion rc!

Hello. I wanted to ask you how do you put the stickers on the model, I took it too and built it all alone that I don't know how to put the stickers on, please help me please?
I see no reason why not. They have separate servos, so as long as you bypass the "blue box" or whatever similar coupling board this model will have, and plug them into separate channels on your Rx, setting this up with tailerons should be easy. Just be aware that just as any other narrow jet, she will most likely be VERY roll sensitive in that configuration, so go very easy on the throws and/or use plenty expo.
