I'm a Japanese user. I also rode the previous 52 type for 5 years. This time, PRIME is even better. If you get one, I recommend downsizing it to 17 inches. Road noise is reduced and the EV mileage is close to 100km, making it even more impressive.
We just got our third Prius, but, first Prime. You are correct regarding the tire/wheel size. Our 24 with the 17' set-up gives us 80+Km in EV (on average), and over 61Mpg in Hybrid Mode. On a good day, I will reach 100Km in EV Mode.
Fun fact: my 2000 D2 Audi A8 4.2 had a solar panel in the sunroof panel. It would run power to the climate system to either run the air or the heat in order to keep the inside of the car tolerable when you first get in after an extended sit in direct sunlight. Very neat system. Genuinely wish more automakers took advantage of the roof for charging and running systems when the car is off. Love the prius and what it has done for hybrids over the years. Also its quicker than your Civic Si, Honda boys.
Thank you for the review! You explained the details of this car nicely and I really appreciate you pointing out issues like visibility. Will definitely factor that in while car searching.
Thank you for pointing out that the A Pillars block your vision. That is the one thing I have been trying to find out about this car. That is the only thing that will keep me from buying one. You are the only video I could find in my searches that commented on the visability from the front. Had a honda fit and it drove me crazy for the same reason.
Omg I am waiting for mine they say Mid March. I wanted the solar roof too but it seems like it's unavailable for NYC. The options for the Prius Prime XSE Premium in general including color options are not good. Every dealership has Guardian Grey. This is very challenging and disappointing with Toyota.
Can you go into better detail about the battery efficiency in colder weather with details such as the temp outside. I believe the miles per kilowatt is displayed on the dash. I’m really curious what it average MPK in colder climates when using the battery, both 40 miles of range on the highway, and 40 miles in the city is, as that’s most of my time in my area.
Makes me appreciate my '21 Rav4 Prime XSE PP more. Prime is faster, more practical and comfortable and the economy isn't much worse. No FCTA. I like the looks of the Prius but my Prime excels in almost every way.
Not sure what part of Ohio you’re in; but if you know where Dragway 42 is come out on Sunday April 7th for the first official autocross of the year. I’ll be running my ‘24 Prius le awd.
I'm only 5'11" so, in my younger days, I'd of been able to slip in and out of this model slick as an ell. However, now, with chronic lower back pain and a gamey left leg I had to modify ingress and egress. No big deal; I just turn 90 Deg to the door and back down/in. Still somewhat graceful............think Corvette, or other super car. Grab one even if you are taller.
Pro tip. Do not run the EV out then drive it in gas. Ut sounds live that cause the ev battery is empty. Fun battery. And bybrid mode is the best way to run the car. Running the bat down then running gas is a marketing gimmick.
Battery lasts for 28 miles. It's roughly $2 with 50mpg. It's $3000-4000 more expensive than non-Prime. It will take you 10-15 years to make up for the premium if you drive more than 28 miles every single day of the year. Its has worse mpg than non-Prime, less baggae area. This is bad deal.
No, the EV range is from 40-44 miles depending on the trim level. I have the top trim and my EV range has gone up in the 6 months I've had it. It went from 39 to 41 miles. I live in SoCal so gas is more expensive here. Lastly, it's not just about not using gas, but not polluting the environment too. In the 6 months I've had my car, I've only put $35 in it. It's a great car. I love driving it in EV mode. BTW, I paid MSRP.
Not so. Our 24 Prime delivers 80Km (50m)on a charge. It costs us about $ $1.94 to charge it from "empty" but here, gas runs about $7.00 per gallon. Do the math. Also, we qualified for the $5,000 rebate, that eliminated the extra cost of a Prime. We've had the thing for near three months and have still not opened the gas cap and, the tank is not empty.....................This is a good deal.

the Prius used to be one of those “love it or hate it” vehicles but now i feel like it’s good enough for everyone lol
The mark up on the prime is insane.
I wish toyota made more of these prime cars. Dealer mark up is suck.
I'm budgeted to get my next Prius Prime in four years. I've had Prime six years. Had a regular Prius 8 years before that!

The best car I have ever had
We have a 2014 and never had any problems
Hold on to it forever!

Most new vehicles have large pillars due to government requirements.
Man. I love this prius, just sick about how that engine sounds. I really hope they're able to refine eCVT engines more in the coming years.
Well hell. I just re-watched. I run those roads all the time.
Can the tire area be insulated after purchase?
also, hey Paul, great video. I just moved to the California and i can’t wait for new videos!
That’s awesome, enjoy the weather haha.
I appreciate that!

Do you think the AWD is best for NYC?? Or prime
Automobiles can’t make us happy. But they can’t make us angry. This car would never make me angry.
😂
Great review. How does this handle compared to the Gen 4 in terms of handling?
It handles better for sure.
Wish you would have talked a bit more about solar charging and mileage

I wanna see this with MRR VP3 wheels or Rotiform BM1 wheels.

I’m very close to that! That’s amazing, let me know how you do!
Or you can get a fully loaded 2025 camry xle or xse for the same price with a spare tire and more legroom and trunk space
I wish reviewers would talk about how to get in and out of the car easily because I heard it is difficult specially for taller people.

Have you done a video like this with the Nissan Leaf?
Not yet! Hopefully soon.
They are dirt cheap used!
Has anyone figured out how to permanently turn off cross traffic alert?
Love the cross trafficking c alert!! Has saved me from several potential accidents. But it's not quite like that.
I want light colored interior --- Toyota doesn't even offer it now.
It's not that loud or annoying, and if it saves you one accident it's well worth it.
Sounds really noisy like you're riding a roller coaster. Is it really that bad?
It’s pretty loud haha
I can see a Lexus of this in the future....
I hope so!
Is this a gas powered car or is it electric?
Both.
Are you secretly British? Driving on the left side to park 😅
😂😂 hey give me a break it was an empty lot haha

cant see front end, bumped and bruised front end twice. Please add in your review. Toyota correct please.
360 camera fixes this
Thanks@@alanb76
Learning how to drive fixes this.

It’s also about liking a car not just money. People pay ridiculous amounts of money for cars they like every day.

Rides terrible.
