- Hi guys, today I drive a 2017 Proton Perdana 2.4 High spec. The Second generation Perdana also knows the Accordana
Is based on the 8 gen Honda Accord hence why the car looks like a Honda Accord, Proton and Honda formed a partnership
In the year 2013 where Proton needed to supply D segment vehicles to high ranking Government Officials in Malaysia and
therefore needed a Vehicle, that’s when they approached Honda, In accordance with the agreement between Honda, Proton was not to allowed
to sell the Perdana to the Public and only could supply the cars to the Malaysian government.
However, In 2016 Proton Launched this the new redesigned Perdana, and now finally Proton was allowed to sell it to the public. It was Longer than the Accord and in-fact was the longest D segment car sold in Malaysia at the time, the Length of the Perdana was at a whopping 5,020mm where the Camry XV50 was 4,850mm and The 9 Gen Honda Accord was 4,935mm. The agreement also meant that Proton was still not allowed add any of their own features to the Perdana, they were only allowed to use what Honda provided them with. Nevertheless this Perdana is the most beautifully designed Proton car ever released, even in 2022 this car still fits in with the crowd.

Maintenance - it should be fairly inexpensive to maintain because its a Honda Accord 2.4 so parts for the Engine and Gearbox will be easily available, Interior parts shouldn't be a problem also because its a Accord interior However in terms of the Exterior parts there may be issues because the entire car has been redesigned by Proton so Parts have to be ordered from Proton or some second hand shops may also have parts for the car, but since the Perdana is not as Common as a Camry or Accord and it is an exclusive car only available in Malaysia there may be some difficulty in sorcing parts😅. Also the Perdana comes with LED turn signals in the front and a full LED rear taillamp like the Signal light, brake light and even the reverse light is LED so replacing it won't be really cheap compared with a halogen bulb.
Fuel Consumption depends on how and where your driving, on the highway at average speed and in town I manage to get 13.5 km/l
The car is a 2.4, so Consumption will be heavy if your driving only in town. The other thing is because the Perdana is an 8 Gen Accord it has some pretty dated tech so it doesn't have Eco Mode to aid in fuel saving and it doesn't even have a Fuel Range Meter.
Common problems are with the LED DRL in the front headlamps they always burn out and spoil I'm not sure what is the problem but I think it's something to do with Honda because even the 9 gen Accord has the same problem with the LED DRL other common stuff is usually pertaining to the Gen 8 Accord
But so far aside from the headlamp DRL problems nothing major should be wrong with the car it your still unsure, you can still look into common problems with the 8 Gen Accord in online Forums

Hey bro, thank you so much 😁 in terms of high speed stability of the car is pretty good 👍 the car is heavy so it does sit well on the road, in terms of NVH during highspeed driving there are some issues, wind noise is there and vibrations are there and also some build quality issues, but this is all due to this car being based on a 14 year old car platform so all this issue will arise, also I'm not sure if proton manufactured the parts or Honda did because the quality is different, I have a cousin who drives a 2012 gen 8 accord and I tested both his and this accord and the parts on this Perdana and there is a difference in terms of quality the accord has better quality but all and all I still really love the Perdana more the design is just beautiful 😍
@@PrinzeShan Thank you so much for your reply 👍 Vibrations as in the steering vibration? Is the wind noise coming from the A pillar? Also do you feel the size of the car since it is a big car. Am looking to get one but am worried abt the fuel consumption and maintenance. Might consider the 2.0
@IM Your Welcome bro 😁 sorry for the late response 😅, to answer your questions, yes vibrations are from the steering and wind noise is from the A pillars,
But to counter the Wind noise you can get the entire car sound proofed or Autofoam the A pillars it does help with strengthening the cars structure and helps reduce wind noise, in terms of size its actually relatively equivalent to a modern camry or Accord in terms of length so driving it was actually pretty easy, parking might be a bit difficult especially in KL but even Accord and Camry struggle a little with that 😅, since your considering the 2.0 fuel Consumption will be slightly better than the 2.4 but its still a 2.0 so for town use Consumption will be high and in terms of maintenance it should be easy cause the car is using Honda engine and transmission, so spare parts are widely available, however for the Exterior parts of the car there might be issues in getting spare parts 😅 for example if your rear light or bumper gets damaged you can't replace with any Honda parts, you have to order from Proton, so it might be costly, also to consider the rear lights and front turn signal bulbs of the Perdana are Full LED so it will be more expensive to replace compared with regular halogen bulbs, but aside from all that there aren't any problems, your basically buying a Gen 8 Honda Accord But with a more beautiful and modern design. I'm yet to test the car yet since my current car is still fine but I think I would test this car pretty soon with my parents. I wanted a car where its comfortable for long journey drives and also one that is extremely comfortable to ferry my parents in. I think for the price of 65k and under I should look no where else. @IM no worries, I'm always happy to help 😊 do update me once you've tested it 😁, as for the sound system it's pretty good 😁 because the 2.4 comes with a Subwoofer from Honda but the 2.0 misses out on this option but a subwoofer can still be added at accessories shop so no issues there 😉 😁 I have a demo of the sound system on my instagram if you send me your insta ill try send you the demo 😊

Macamne kreta ni boss, slesa tk jalan jauh, pastu cvt dye ade lag tk , n enjin dye vtec kn?
Kereta ni mmg selesa bang sebab dia ikut Honda Accord Ride and Handling kalau bawak laju pun sedap handling dia bagus Engine dia betul Vtec tapi gearbox Bukan CVT tapi 5 speed sama macam Accord, kalau beli ni mmg berbaloi bang harga pun ok 😁

@@mohamadhafiz1196 kos maintenance untuk Engine dan Gearbox ikut je maintenance cost untuk Accord bang, tapi spare part untuk body,mahal sikit bang Sebab kena order dari Proton 😅 dan susah nak dapat.

Dari segi engine Maintenance, Ok bang Sebab dia pakai parts Honda Accord Gen 8 Tapi dari kalau spare parts mcm lampu depan, lampu belakang, bumper depan dan belakang agak susah dapat bang Sebab itu semua Proton dah tukar so kena order dari proton kat luar boleh cari tapi bukan senang sangat 😅
