Honestly, Genesis 9 was Totally Unnecessary.
There are much bigger issues that Daz should focus on - like its wonky animation tools for example. You have from the original Genesis all the way up to Genesis 8. Exactly how many versions of the human body do we need before we just say "ENOUGH DAZ, focus on other issues to improve your program."

I'm having a hard time adopting to gen 9 due to the fact that they are built differently body wise. It's hard to give female curves. I try to morph another body from a different model character, and I end with an oddly bottle shape, something I don't want. I even try to Tweak it a little bit using parameters. It was no go. Honestly, I think Gen 8 is better when it come to building the way you want them.

Hi, nice to see ya back! Yes, I too don't like the fact 9 is both genders now and loading times have increased a bit, however, the added geometry and maps for 9 is very nice with the 8k textures. At this point there is just not enough out there with characters and assets to abandoned 8.

Totally agree. I am still waiting on some of my designers I use to drop enough product to do something with it. For a casual person I think Gen 9 is great. For someone that does adult stuff like myself this is a mixed bag. I am torn because I love the model, but they are making it harder to make good product.

RE: The number of morphs being greater. Not necessarily, a huge lot extra, most of the body shaping will be much the same male or female. You are basically loading a male with some extra female specific shaping that might be unneeded if you know from the get go you are going to create a male.
I am quite pleased Daz have returned to a unisex base. I always liked the first Genesis and was still using it in some scenes until recently. I hope 9 lasts a little longer than the short time Genesis 1 was the main figure, considering the PAs were unhappy and so many users took a long time to switch from Gen 4.
Still many imperfections in G9 yet. Not keen on the default faces and features G8 has like the genital UV maps to take body materials and I'm not so hot on some of the fine details like nipples and navel and haven't found products to fix yet.

I am working with Gen 9 models from Daz 3d with unreal engine, however I am having difficulty getting the skin texture to translate will into unreal engine. Would you happen to have any suggestions on how to get realistic skin from Daz 3d gen 9 into unreal engine?

@@davida4641 not a clue, havent touched ubreal engine in a couple years. I imagine its because of the bones structure. You may have to individually put the texture on the different parts? Im just apit balling on that though.

An overview after loading one gen 9 character? Not the most useful for other users looking for info. You missed a lot of things. Oh and having less materials as a favourite thing is kind of wrong as the missing material zones are there, they’re just on separate items now (eyes teeth etc)

That is my personal opinion under the guise of saying it's easier for content creators. From what I heard a lot of creators thinks it is harder. I don't know about clothing or hair though.
