    In this episode, author Mark Pendergrast joins Zach Rhoads to discuss his book about Jerry Sandusky. Is it possible that Sandusky is innocent? Zach is skeptical, but keenly aware that the author is far from fringe in the scientific community-- in fact, check out reviews of Mark Pendergrast books here:

I am TRULY torn with whether or not he was guilty or not.the number one thing that bothers me is that from my research, the lawyers approached HUNDREDS OF PLAYERS ....the players didn't approach the lawyers.

      Agree. A bit too much of the “false memory” koolaid.
      He’d made up his mind before writing the book and couldn’t pull back from the brink.
      His book “Memory Warp” is excellent. This was supposed to pull from those concepts and he makes good points that force explanation.
      But part of the book gets into “I’m just asking questions here” and I can’t sign onto the conclusion by a long shot.

      No, Mr. Pendergrast is here to only defend the truth, and the truth just happens to fall on Jerry Sandusky's side. Mr. Pendergrast did not even know Mr. Sandusky before all of this started. Mr. Pendergrast explains in the video and in his book how this case fell into his lap-- a lady contacted Mr. Pendergrast about the pseudoscience of "repressed memory"...

      @@thesocialexchangepodcast3022 It shows I believe a great bias in his work. Pendergast is not a psychologist or child abuse expert. He wrote this I think because of his perceived injustice regarding his own issues with his children. His motives are suspicious and I think that colors his book. There is a good review on Amazon refuting much of his narrative. Lots of Penn State cultists have latched onto him including the disgraced and jailed Graham Spanier.

    Dear Lord, this dude ain't helping Sandusky at all. He's just digging a deeper hole. Making the kind of arguments a teenager would make. Immaturely painting Sandusky as one dimensional good guy, --- "Only missionary style sex", Mr. Straight Laced, "My wife is the only person I've ever had sex with"....If your vibe reader and BS detector ain't telling you this guy is failing in his attempts to exonerate an obvious and convicted pedophile, then you have no intuition.

    This guy is nuts as he seems to be defending Sandusky for what he did. Sexual abuse is difficult to prove, but how do you explain away all of these many different people, most who hadn't met each other, who all saw things that most of us would be in utter shock seeing? Maybe there was no actual penetration seen in the locker room, but a grown naked man standing behind a naked ten year old boy, with this boy's hands up against the wall, isn't anything I'd find normal. Showering with kids that aren't yours isnt normal either, but he and his accomplice wife defend this. This guy here even talks about how Sandusky hung around the YMCA and the men and boys showered together. Well, gee! I find this statement to be out of place and just strengthens the case against him. Please, Sandusky is where he belongs and needs to stay there away from kids.

    • @thesocialexchangepodcast3022
      @thesocialexchangepodcast3022  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You don’t. It happened. I mean, at the very least, the guy acted in a bizarre way around kids. And took advantage of them in a disturbing way. That seems to be the BEST case scenario.
      I think that this author’s defense was the best defense that anyone had for Sandusky. And I still think that it falls apart all over the place.
      In that sense I hope that it was a good thing to air it out.

    • @ddmck1972

      @@thesocialexchangepodcast3022 It was for sure. And you are correct on that. Sandusky, his wife, this author, it just angers you to no end every time, even when you "rerun" some of these interviews, to hear them justify that this was the age people grew up in and how "normal" this all was. They conveniently forget how people saw a naked Jerry in showers with naked boys on a regular basis, people who didn't know one another, and no explanation is given as to how this "coincidence" continued. As I said, that remark about the YMCA, maybe that's how Jerry started his reign of terror with boys because men and boys showered together in the nude. These guys all start somewhere.

    There is no way you can convince me that Sandusky is innocent. I’m not God and can’t judge the man in my own humanness but the evidence seems pretty damning and he has created a dangerous precedent for others in authority and leadership.

      I was sexually assaulted by my landlord, who also sexually assaulted other male tenants; I was illegally evicted from my home of over 16years after I complained about it. I am a survivor. I also went to law school. However, this video seriously brings into question Mr. Sandusky's guilt. I belief in fairness, regardless of the issue at hand and what has happened to me personally in the past. We must always look past the obvious, as this author did. The same is true in another very controversial case of former Oklahoma City Police Officer Daniel Holtzclaw (look it up online), who was sentenced to 263 years in prison for crimes he did NOT commit. Yup. Lots of corruption in the legal profession. I will be reading this book soon: "The Most Hated Man in America: Jerry Sandusky and the Rush to Judgment by Mark Pendergrast, Charlie Weirauch III, et al." BTW, I have partial amnesia, from trauma, horrific child abuse that occurred to me as a child. Isn't partial amnesia the same as repressed memory? I am not convinced there is no such thing as repressed memory. However, I do believe, at this time, that repressed memory was inappropriately and unlawfully used, via "suggestive pretrial procedures" e.g., in the Sandusky case. At this time, based on what I hear the book author stating in this video above, as a matter of law, Sandusky is not guilty. RE: The "Grooming" definition: The word "grooming" is very broad, and much of the definition, if not all of it, also applies to things, circumstances, and people that are purely innocent, and not nefarious in nature whatsoever. The Holy Spirit and St. Jude blesses those who pursue unpopular causes, including wrongful convictions.
