Nice find. Thanks for sharing. I have never seen a Marvel Storybook Annual before. Another appearance of a Marvel superhero in the U.K. was in 1971 in Amazing Spider Man 95 when Peter went looking for Gwen.
thank you for reminding me of that Gwen story, recall that now. There were very few of them though before that, be interesting if anyone can think of others. Dr Strange at Stonehenge is another, if I recall correctly
I am certain they do turn up. I can't recall ever seeing one in the millions of annuals I have seen at markets or fairs though (generally always Beano, Whizzer, Dandy, etc)
Certainly does seem that way, makes little logic but I guess someone thought it was a great idea at the time. Still have fondness for the annual though as with many of those 60s ones (and likewise those DC ones)
As a kid I would have been so disappointed with this as a present..... As one who always used to ignore the written stories in annuals this would have been a huge letdown. I always saw the stories as filler so I didn't read them. Even the Alan Moore Nightraven stories I never read. However now I can go back and read those Night Raven stories which are excellent.
I don't think I put the Marvel storybooks up against a class writer like Alan Moore. I would have been disappointed with the annual; as well, quite certain I didn't get it but I definitely got the brilliant World Distributors annual with actual Marvel stories for a Xmas or Birthday present, one of my favourites.
Fantastic did, Terrific didn't ... Fantastic had as you say, three annuals (I've got them all). If I said it, i was wrong but I think I recall (without re-listening to the video) that it was Terrific with no annuals. They came out in 1968, 69, 70 I believe. This annual pre-dates them unless I am reading my dates in the annuals wrong
I really enjoy your youtube channel especially the way you cover. I noticed a few array when i could help optimize your video reach a larger audience. would you be open to discuss this further.

A very interesting find… never seen anything like this in the wild. Nice find!
Glad it was of interest
If I ever saw that storybook for sale out in the wild, I'd snap it up on a heartbeat!

Nice review Andrew. What a bizarre annual that one was. It’s like it took the main Marvel heroes and transported them to a parallel universe!

Wow! That's a nice piece 🤙
Thank you, glad you liked the video
Yes most definately of its time , great vid to highlight it.
Yes, it was of its time, I suspect if released now, very few would buy it. Just hard to work out the audience even back in the late 60s
@@AndrewBuckleBookReviews Yes its amazing how times change.
they certainly have. Even finding an annual now, don't think there is a Marvel 2025 annual, no idea when the last one was released.

Never seen that before. A bit of an oddity. Did you say Fantastic didn't produce an annual? They brought out a couple, maybe three.

@@AndrewBuckleBookReviews I listened again. You're right. You said it was Terrific which hadn't produced an annual, not Fantastic.
that is good ... it would have been odd for me to say Fantastic. It was a pity that Terrific never had one, it was my favourite of all those comics.

Sorry, not interested - just enjoy doing the way I do them !
