Charlie is his brother who he grew up with. They have the same patterns of speech. All he had to do to sound like him is talk slower with a deeper voice. For Charlie to sound like Eddie, he would just have to talk faster with a higher voice
I always forget how great of an impressionist he really is. To be so talented and it seems like he rarely uses it unless people ask for it.
The funny thing about Eddie Murphy, he’s always been a soft spoken person but he breaks into his characters full fledge like no other, he always snaps. Eddie is a legend.

This man is a comedic icon. I grew up on his SNL sketches, Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood, CILL my landlord, Gumby, Ali impressions, all of it. He's a living legend, and the fact that he stays out of the spotlight and just minds his business, I love that! Coolest cat, ever.

I've never associated Eddie with any of those guys - he doesn't really go out of his way to name-drop - but he has probably met just about everyone over the years, in entertainment at least.

Good commentary. Eddie was a very rare case. He KNEW where he was gonna go and got there. In the old days, it was never his material, it was his confidence and stage presence. He was different. He had an air about him that he already made it. Thats why the comparisons to Pryor are wrong. The only similarity is they both curse. Pryor was much more vulnerable. Eddie had the leather, cockiness, and swag which was new to stand up comedy.
Him and Chapelle both did it in their teens and early 20s.

I like that Charlie and Eddie do pretty much spot on impressions of each other, Eddie just goes into Charlie's voice so effortlessly here. If you watch the Prince and Rick James' sketches, Charlie is doing all the off-camera "Eddie" lines. RIP Charlie Murphy.
