We're in a series on the Humanity of Christ. Through this series we are demonstrating that Christ was fully God and fully man. In this lesson, we're going to examine the indissoluble union between God and man through the incarnation. Post your questions/comments below.

✌😃 DO YOU THINK IT'S POSSIBLE ONLY THE ANGELS HEAR THE TRUMPETS AS A SIGNAL TO DO WHATEVER TASK WHEN THEY'RE BLOWN? WE DON'T SEE THE HORSEMEN, THE SEALS BROKEN OR THE BOWLS POURED OUT, WHY WOULD WE HEAR TRUMPETS? SEEMS KINDA OUT OF SORTS TO HEAR A TRUMPET & WAIT MINUTES, DAYS, YEARS... TIL THE NEXT ONE IS BLOWN, UP UNTIL ALL 7 HAVE BEEN BLOWN. 🤷‍♂️ JUST SAYING IT MIGHT BE PLAUSIBLE.

He was fully God in his spiritual identity. But he had emptied himself of the miraculous attributes in the Kenosis of Phil. 2. So the miracles he did where from the Father working in him by the Holy Spirit. As it says in Acts 10:38, "how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him." Chalcedon would not have accepted this scripture. Hey were intent, carried similar to the council of Ephesus, to make sure Mary would be the "Mother of God." So he would need all of his divine attributes. But Jesus was given the Holy Spirit without measure. True? This is now he did his works. The idea that he had both partial human knowledge and yet omniscience in the same person simply does not work and is nonsense. If was say he had a split in those natures, we side with Nestorius. Amen?

We believe the Bible teaches that Jesus was fully God and fully man. Colossians 2:9 (NASB) 9 For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form,
We have 8 videos on our website that demonstrates the Deity of Christ and have 3 videos (1 of 3 complete) that demonstrate His humanity.

@@AngelsintheGlen Okay, thanks. The issue is what does the Scripture teach us exactly? We see Jesus not knowing the day and hour of his return. We see him growing in wisdom. We can't split him and say that was only in his human nature. To do so is Nestorian, which even contradicts Chalcedon, who said there was no separation between the natures. True? So we are left to put together a biblical view (apart from Chalcedon's paradoxical philosophical view). Col. 2:9 does say that the fulness dwells in him. Certainly this is true now; he has is former glory returned to him (notice the present tense verb). He presumably has all attributes of deity. But in the days of his flesh, since he was given the Holy Spirit without measure, that was his empowering. This is how he did his miracles, as Acts 10:38 says. Jesus made it clear that his miracles were from the Father doing his work in and through him. Yet he was always deity in his spiritual identity of the Logos. Amen?

@@Mike65809 Great points. Here are some thoughts for your consideration.
For example, the second person of the Godhead obviously placed limitations on Himself at the incarnation. As you pointed out, he had to physically grow in stature and in mental capacity/wisdom from His birth. However, as you also pointed out, He also placed limitations on His deity, as the Holy Spirit would move and work in Him.
However, consider the temptations. They were real. He could have turned the stones to bread. Had He turned the stones into bread, He would have demonstrated His deity, but mankind would have been lost. But He didn’t. Also consider His final temptations while on the cross, i.e. “if you are the Son of God, come down.” Had He come down, He would have demonstrated His deity, and mankind would have been lost.
It’s also true that He takes on a specific role and hierarchy with the Father and the Holy Spirit in the plan of redemption. John 14:28 as one example. But most important, He becomes sin at the cross. The Father and Holy Spirit do not take on sin at the cross and separate from Him; “My God (the Father), My God (the Holy Spirit), why have you forsaken Me?” At the cross, the Godhead is separated for the first time.
What about “the day or the hour?” Notice that it was Jesus who made this declaration, and not His Father. That Jesus would have this information and know who would know it and who would not know it, demonstrates His deity and it simply underscores the role and hierarchy He assumed when He placed Himself in humanity.
Another thought is found in Philippians 2:5-6….Have this attitude, which was also in Christ who existed in the form of God, but did not regard equality a thing to be grasped (or asserted or to claim for oneself). And while we believe there is sufficient scriptural evidence to conclude Jesus was both God and man at the same time, it is deep topic as 1 Timothy 3:16 points out…great is the mystery of godliness.
We recognize that this is a short comment, and we also recognize that much more can be said on this topic. Are you trying to reconcile and amass scriptural evidence to demonstrate the deity and humanity of Christ? Or reconcile what others say about Christ? We ask this question so that we can better respond to you.

@@AngelsintheGlen Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I do want to know what the Bible says about Christ, and I can refer to former councils for reference (keep in mind, there was a strong push to declare Mary the Mother of God in the Council of Ephesus, Chalcedon followed suit). I agree he went through the kenosis, the self-emptying to become a servant, a man. I guess we may differ over in what way he was still deity. I would say for sure in his spiritual identity, which would not have changed in the Incarnation. That spirit was inside of him, but my have been transformed into a man's. So he was worthy of worship even as a baby. But his miraculous attributes were gone. I say this, not only because the miracles he did were from the Father by the Holy Spirit, but you will notice that his own family did not believe in him. Had he discovered his miraculous attributes as a child it would be pretty safe to assume his family would have seen him in action. Yet they didn't. He did no miracle after his Incarnation until his baptism in the Holy Spirit. As far as doing miracles during temptations and on the cross, this is also where I would tend to disagree. At one point he said that he could ask the Father and he would have sent 12 legions of angels to rescue him (Matt. 26:53). You see, the Father would have done it at Jesus' request, but you are right, that would have meant the end of our redemption. So here we see Jesus, not having his own power available, but having the Father's deliverance at his request, yet not asking for it. I would assume the same for the examples you gave about the bread and the cross. He said if he glorified himself his glory was nothing (Jn. 8). If he had used his own attributes, he would have invariably glorified himself, Amen? So he could only have the Father work through him and not of himself. That way he was the perfect man. Men don't glorify themselves. True? As for not knowing the day or hour. you are right he did know who knew, but he himself did not know. He knew who knew since the Father showed him. But he had limited himself to what the Father showed him. When you say there is enough evidence to conclude that Jesus was God and man at the same time, I have to ask, in what way he was God? Did he have, and was he using all of the attributes of God? If not, then how was he God? Thanks.

Great question. We developed a comprehensive 8-part video series that spans both the OT and NT which demonstrates the deity of Christ. Please critically evaluate the scriptural evidence we put forth. See this link:
      th-cam.com/video/gd9z_Swgvgg/w-d-xo.html
In addition, you might consider Philip Schaff’s book on the Person of Christ: The perfection of His humanity viewed as proof of His divinity.

Their is only ONE GOD and that would be THE FATHER just like CHRIST said in John 17 3 i believe it is. CHRIST never said He was GOD, never claimed to be GOD but He did say THE FATHER is the only TRUE GOD, Also in Rev 3 12 CHRIST keeps saying He has a GOD. Now if CHRIST is GOD and He is back where He was why does HE still have a GOD. THE REAL GOD has no god and never will. To me its really just that simple.
