This album is severely underrated. I enjoyed immensely, especially Beyond Magnetic. If anyone hasn't heard of BM, you need to check it out right after this song. You'll thank me later. :)
Just discovered Beyond Magnetic and was blown away. Bought it before finishing the four songs on here. I read about it on a countdown list but thank you anyway!
The sick (and sad thing) is that James' vocals are better in this one (on the verses at least). Which, in my opinion, says that they should make records in the same tuning as they use live. It fits his voice better so I can't see why they dont do it.
His voice sounds absolutely terrible. Coming off the sick of the studio tour and right into recording jacked his vocals up and plus not singing for a year from St. Anger due to therapy also messed with his vocals. His vocals are way better on the studio album than the demos. Here it just sounds like James is sick and dealing with allergies.
One of the subtle things I really prefer in the demo version over the album version is the vibrato on the distorted leads during the part before each verse, gives it a much more solemn tone to it; I also like that the vocal track in the demo is more "soft" and not as clear as the studio version, makes the whole song feel a little bit more... I don't know, warm? Something like that
First half is definitely better, in terms of vocals. I love how the verses are more subdued. Creates a very nice clean/heavy dynamic from verse to chorus.
@Crucible Same with Flamingo/All Nightmare Long. I think the different tempo really makes that riff pop. It's nothing to do with psychology, because those two are the only two where I preferred them for reasons other than just the shitty production on the actual record.
You make a good point, but I will say that "The Judas Kiss" is SOOOO much better than "Gymbag". The chorus on the latter just sucks compared to what it became
Hallo Jungs ich bin mittlerweile 60jahre Alt und höre euch immernoch ihr seit einfach coooool und geil danke danke danke James Lars Kirk mehr kann ich dazu nicht sagen 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌 danke danke danke Grüße Tom ❣️❣️🤟
Rob’s bass on this is 1000000x better ! Like his use of the fifth string at 1:38 , the kind of low notes that I love to hear ! Gives way more guts and emotion to the part !
is that bass riff in the breakdown buried in the mix @6:15? It is so good, and honestly is missed in the song. It is the perfect lead in to the rest of the breakdown
I like this version more than the Album. More dynamics in the guitar playing and more emotion in the singing. My only gripe is the drum mix on the this.
While I don't mind Metallica tuning to standard on the last 3 albums, they should have stayed with half-step down tuning. If has a "more filled" sound to it (y).
I don't think it's better than the album version. There is music out there, that the demos are better than actual version. But unfortunately, this is not one. It's a great album though. :)
2:50 SWEET VOICE JAMES
I know, it's so much more gentle than his regular voice. This demo is the only time i've heard him sing like that
magical
Perfect
So fragile
I like the demos and originals of artists, it shows the evolution in a song.
2:50 - 3:10 might be the best I've ver heard Hetfield sing... Goosebumps every fucking time!
ever heard in generell.. so fragile
so much pitch correction (but its great anywayy)
He hit that vibe again on Inamorata in the middle section
06:17 - 06:21 that bass
In album they removed that part ffs. It's so great imo. All of the bass in this demo much better.
@@nope_ua atleast they didn’t do what they did on justice 😂

sir i know it's been two years but you spelled the acronym for beyond magnetic as "BM" and it hurts me a lot please use the full title
Just discovered Beyond Magnetic and was blown away. Bought it before finishing the four songs on here. I read about it on a countdown list but thank you anyway!
Everything that has ever happened is underrated
The whole album should have been tuned like this. It suits James vocals way more.
These demos are awesome
The sick (and sad thing) is that James' vocals are better in this one (on the verses at least).
Which, in my opinion, says that they should make records in the same tuning as they use live.
It fits his voice better so I can't see why they dont do it.
S.Lilja right. it doesn’t sound like he’s putting stress or strain on his voice with this tuning. it just sounds weird on the album
Completely disagree. E has always been better for their Thrash sound imo.
Hes autotuned on this, still sounds great
@@AnthonyB331 tbf his voice is still amazing in this tuning regardless
His voice sounds absolutely terrible. Coming off the sick of the studio tour and right into recording jacked his vocals up and plus not singing for a year from St. Anger due to therapy also messed with his vocals.

I think you mean to say it feels more like Metallica!
2:52 OH MY GOD.
4:53 that „Shine!” sounds so passionate
James' vocals at 2:50 are amazing!
First half is definitely better, in terms of vocals. I love how the verses are more subdued. Creates a very nice clean/heavy dynamic from verse to chorus.
People always so that they prefer demos to originals. But I bet if the originals were the demos, they would say the same thing.
I'd bet the same

In this instance, I MUCH prefer demo magnetic to death magnetic.
You make a good point, but I will say that "The Judas Kiss" is SOOOO much better than "Gymbag". The chorus on the latter just sucks compared to what it became
You see, if you were smart, you would understand. But... Here, on the demo, the mix is made more pleasantly.
Wow, James' vocals o_o

Ja mann
this song is awesome
love the rawness on this one.
I named my dog after the demo
Defeated King43 cool
Defeated King43 I named my cat after a cars 2 character
@@Finn_the_Cat I named my Dog Happy after the Netflix series (I'm not a native English speaker)
There is only one god, Burton, and Trujillo is his prophet.
Then what is Jason Newsted to you?
Rob’s bass on this is 1000000x better !
Like his use of the fifth string at 1:38 , the kind of low notes that I love to hear !

The final product should have been tuned to 1/2 step down entirely
is that bass riff in the breakdown buried in the mix @6:15? It is so good, and honestly is missed in the song. It is the perfect lead in to the rest of the breakdown
This version is raw as fuck i love it
This song makes me want to cry D';!
I like this version more than the Album. More dynamics in the guitar playing and more emotion in the singing.
My only gripe is the drum mix on the this.
Awesome ALLL
This sun will shine!!! 🤘
this intro reminds me to the beatles´ "and i love her", you know, the middle part when George plays the arpeggio
Love is a four letter word and never spoken here.
I really wish this was an EP along with Beyond Magnetic
God of Bass, Mother of Trujillo!
Better than anything on the final album. Absolutely beautiful
İncredible İntro, the best ever!
2:50 sounds a litle bit Maynard
КРАСАВЦЫ
Muito bom!
this is so good
Почему я не могу послушать в спотифае эту версию песни?!
Feel..😊
2:50 how did we go from St anger to this in like 3-5 years?
I prefer this cuz there's no "comes-uh" in it haha
lol
Better than album version IMO
Better than final version...
the demo sounds way better than the final album version
Ficou bom
Music on.
Better than death magnetic album love this version

4:09 disposable heroes??
That’s what I’m saying
the bass sounds cool
Ok, Cliff Burton is the god of bass, but Trujillo, not bad
Why is it unfortunate that this isn't better than the studio version?
Why is this called Casper?! The song has nothing to do with him! James even says The Day That Never Comes! The ending still kicks ass though!
Working titles are chosen before the lyrics are written and usually kept in the work environment even after you've decided the official title.
Casper that bastard, has nothing to do with him why the hell is he even here?
Because is funny to call the song the name of that bastard.
What’s kind of funny is that this is pretty much how Lars plays this live
and whats funny about it?
