Pavarotti would do a charity concert every year called Pavarotti & Friends in which he sang with all the big pop stars of the day including people like Elton John, Celine Dion, Stevie Wonder, Tom Jones and many more.

The 2 legends absolutely have amazing vocals, but let's also give a huge "SHOUT-OUT" to the Orchestra which made this such a delicious performance too!!!

The combination of the Godfather Of Soul James Brown singing with Opera legend Luciano Pavarotti was quite interesting and it worked really well. "It's A Man's World" is a great song and considered one of James Brown's best. An excellent choice for you to react to.

This was definitely amazing! I haven’t checked out much opera, but I have definitely heard of him. If you want another duet that I thought was crazy, but gives me chills every time I hear it, Ray Charles and Willie Nelson “Seven Spanish Angels “. Preferably the live version so you can see them. It’s amazing!

Wonderful reaction! James Brown has been my favorite entertainer since I was 12 years old in 1968. This is definitely one of the greatest things I’ve ever heard also. And just so you know Mr. Pavarotti was 67 years old hair and Mr. Brown was 69. So even near the end of their careers, they were amazing! This was 2002.

Fun show. The Godfather of Soul,James Brown.I have seen him 5 times.Once on the Friday after 911.When the show was over , Brown stepped back on the stage by himself and under a spotlight sang God Bless a America. Lot of wet eyes that night.

italian part translated into english and the complete lyrics below
Pavarotti: Man/(the mankind) chases power but he doesn't know
that the great limit has to be how it will be done.
In the palm he holds an idea
    who does not live,
that in his fantasy… he wanted
if you don't notice that then
    nothing makes sense anymore if
    one lives only for oneself.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------
    It's a Man's Man's Man's World lyrics
Artist: Luciano Pavarotti •Featuring artist: James Brown
    Album: Pavarotti & Friends
Brown: This is a man's world, this is a man's world and
But it wouldn't be nothing, nothing, nothing
Without a woman or a girl

You see, man made the cars
To take us over the road
    Man made the trains
    To carry heavy loads
    Man made electric lights
To take us out of the dark
And man made the boat for the water,
Like my bible says Noah made the ark

    This is a man's world
But it wouldn't be nothing, nothing, nothing
Without a woman or a girl

Brown: Man thinks about a little bitty baby girl
    And a baby boy
    Man makes then happy
    Because man makes them toys

And after man made other things he can
Man makes liras, pesos, dollars, rupees
To buy for every good woman and every man

    This is a man's world,
Pavarotti: Nulla ha piú senso se
    si vive solo per sé.
Brown: But it wouldn't be nothing,
Without a woman or a girl.
    Pavarotti: Solo per sé.

Brown: He's lost in the wilderness,
    He's lost in bitterness.
Pavarotti: Se non si accorge che poi
    nulla ha piú senso se
    si vive solo per sé,
    solo per sé, per sé.
Brown: This is a man's world, yeah.

Great reaction - you should check out Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli Time to say Goodbye live in 1996/1997; also as a Kate bush fan you should check out another great female singer Tori Amos singing 'Winter' live in 1992.

Oh, to the lady that said she’s never heard of IT’S A MAN’S MAN’S MAN’S WORKD before. This was one of James Brown’s massive hits. It’s from 1966. It went to number one on the soul chart and number eight on the pop chart. It’s been sung by literally hundreds of people in the last few years. I’m surprised you’ve never heard anyone sing it. Christina Aguilera sing it on the Grammys in 2007 as a tribute to Mr. Brown. when he passed away in 2006.

This event was put together and organized by Luciano Pavarotti.
Every year, he would invite to Italy (Modena) different, very famous, non-opera singers, such as Bono and U2, and, in this case, the great James Brown, to perform with him for charity.
I don't think anyone ever declined the invitation and all the profits went to charity. Luciano did it for the love of music and a desire to do good in the world (he was a great humanitarian). All the other singers did it for the same reason but also out of respect for "Il Maestro" Luciano.
They (all the performances) were a fantastic example of humanity.

The tragedy of this duet is that Pavarotti looks exhausted. And James Brown by contrast is alive. There is a very short distance between James Brown and opera.
