The biggest flaw I have seen with shooters of all ages is lack of control when they release the ball, meaning they don't point or direct the ball to the target so they get random results. This is a problem with "palm" shooters because they lack control gained from thumb and pointer finger contact. The "cup" from your thumb and pointer finger gives you accuracy like throwing a dart or baseball. Another issue is that they might have good control but then they don't have arc because they shoot at the target not above it. One of the things you mention in the video is connecting the energy from your lower body. Two motion shooters tend to have problems with this which limits their range and flattens their arc. Just make sure you are "underneath" the ball, maybe practice using a "dip". Try not to let the ball rest on your palm, and release earlier than you might think (with your upward momentum). One last thing, don't pull back from your release because you think you are going to over shoot it or shoot too hard. This kills the energy and accuracy of your one motion shot. Follow thru and pose with confidence even if you think you are shooting too hard.
Same im the best defender can defend and block shots of people double my height and power but when it comes to shooting i just cant do it i just defended a player double my height and he was like 70kg while im only 42
same I am a really good defender, blocking shots here and there, really good at finishing in the paint, but when it comes to shooting, I am the worst, but this video changed that.
I played until I was 50 - my main game was shooting and I am not tall - just 5'10" - I ( instantly and repetitively ) found near the end of my career - I could reliably add 3 to 5 ' to my 3 pointers ( already a high a high percentage shot for me ) just by accentuating a 3 part breath - breathe in going up- retain the breath for the push and release both breath and ball at once ( and of course, with good finger follow through ) - each part of the breath focused on each of 3 parts of a shot. It was like magic how that alone effortlessly added distance. This may be different for big fellas who can push easier - but I doubt it.
Thank you so much for these tips! I went from barely being able to hit front rim to being able to hit threes at a much more consistent rate. You really are a genius!
Thank you coach I needed the video because when I play when I set up my shot I rush it sometimes and my hand placement is off and I miss the shot I'm gonna look back at this one to get better so great video
I did not use this video but I did do an internet seach where it advised shooters to bring the ball up close to your body. That worked wonders yesterday for me shooting 3s! Other points .... 1. Hold the ball by your finger tips, not your palm 2. Go up quickly in 1 motion. 3. pull your wrist back as far as you can before flicking it. 4. Your middle finger should be the last finger to touch the ball on release in order for better control and accuracy. 5. Go straight up starting from your feet. 6. Use the joints in your ankle, hip and elbow to create power for the shot. 7. Push your arm almost straight up, around 10 to 11 o'clock. 8. Move your shooting arm so that it is locked at the elbow and pointing straight 9. Kick your shooting foot straight out. 10. Keep your shooting knee directly under your elbow, with the toes pointing at the basket, parallel to one another, and the shooting foot forward around 6 inches. 11. Space your feet so they line up with your shoulders, with the shooting foot slightly forward. 12. Bring the ball up close to your body as you shoot. 13. Visualize the trajectory of the shot going in and tap into that imagination as memory to improve your shot. 14. Adjust your release to how well you jumped and how straight up you jumped. 15. Guide and support your shot with your offhand.
Thanks! Ill try these next time I practice my shooting, I really had a problem of shooting while jumping so I went to check out this video. Thanks coach!
Ive been flicking it with my wrist which adds a spin and i have greatly improved i even won two three contests in a row using this method against at the park ...funny thing is when you get this form down you know right away when you have a good release

No real immediate definite answer. You need to watch his play style and play off that. Is he aggressive on defense as in is he always trying to steal the ball? Is he a high jumper and does he box out after every shot his opponent takes? If you are playing someone who is bigger than you then you would need to play his weakness which hopefully would be speed. If you have speed vs his body size you may have an advantage there. If you are good at shooting try to create space and knock down some shots. That will get home focused on blocking your shot. From there pump fake and go around. If you are bigger you can just back him down and reverse layup at the post.
