Also, how does the timegrapher work? Do you make manual adjustments based on the reading or is it actually connected to a watch part? What gets adjusted? Thanks!
Thanks, Nick! The material I’m clearing is the dried lubricant that has leaked from the mainspring barrel and accumulated on the main plate. This can lead to wear as it acts as composite of grease and metal shards. The timegrapher is a microphone that listens to the tic-toc of the lever escapement. I am adjusting the relative center of the balance wheel relative to the pallet fork (beat error) and the effective length of the hairspring (rate).
my 27 jewels bellmatic change date button gets stuck at the pressed position when I try to advance the date. I have to pull it out and it actually does advance the date. Is there a way to fix this so it doesn't get stuck?

Most likely an old gasket.

The crown gaskets look very big.
the rubber flattens and hardens over time. the new gaskets are the correct seiko replacements for this watch. thanks for watching.
