I'm obsessed with Jaejin's (the bassist) voice it makes such a nice contrast to Hongki's in songs- I know Hongki has mentioned at least once before that he is jealous of Jaejin's voice a bit because his voice is sweet and can do pretty falsettos compared to him. Fun fact that originally Jaejin was going to be the main vocalist of FTIsland and Hongki actually joined the band kinda late into their formation as trainees. There's a really funny story that Jaejin told on a show about he and Hongki meeting and going out to do karaoke for the first time. I'm also pretty sure Jaejin collects basses/guitars or at least has a huge collection. Minhwan, the drummer, was actually the youngest idol to debut at 14 until Taemin came along a year later a few months younger than him.
absolutely! I am 100% with you Jaejin has a very nice voice, its true, he is a little smoother softer voice, it is a great contrast, like you were saying. Taemin just kinda is that person lol
Crying in the rain is a great song. Other songs to explore by ftisland, out of love, tornado, black chocolate, last love song, morning coffee, Fish, heartache, Aqua, Japanese and korean version, Paradise, life, all in cocert.
You should check out 'beautiful' - another one of their emotional Japanese rock songs that is just as good as 'Crying in the rain' : th-cam.com/video/Qj30z_otPTU/w-d-xo.html In the 2023 concert, Hongki belts out all the highnotes in this song which is BEAUTIFUL indeed
Oh, They're just so good! I've only got into them recently so haven't delved deep into their stuff before other members left other than their biggest songs. Most of what I've seen are lives with these three and I feel like they're left with the best combination of members. It might be that I don't know what I'm missing, but to me they feel distilled gown to their most essential parts. Their voices, the skill of the musicians and their chemistry are just so powerful, it feels like less is more. Or maybe this is just a completely new FT Island now. My opinion as a TVXQ fan who equally values OT5 and Changmin and UKnow on their own.
I agree, they are really just well rounded, I thought they had a few OG members left, I do know that they have a trio now and their new release has been pretty good, I don't know if I know them well enough to say either way, I do think their music now, from what I have heard, is maybe a little less theatrical is the big difference.
@@Killdeer25 Yes these three are original members. They unfortunately had a member in the Burning Sun scandal and then the other two left as far as I know to just have families and live a normal life. I guess the advantage of discovering groups much later than debut is that I don’t feel any particular disappointment or loss about departed members. These are the guys that are here when I am discovering them and I think they are wonderful on their own. But I’m sure when I dig into their past more I’ll start to appreciate the ones who left too. I mean aside from the one guy. Much like Ilhoon in BTOB too. For a long time he was just the one who isn’t there anymore. But now I know the group so much better I see how much he added.
ahh! thats right! I forgot about that they had a member part of that, I guess I dont blame the others for wanting to go and pursue the family life though. yes! it is one of the few upsides of getting into the game late, but yes then there is the Ilhoon effect, and honestly you get to experience the legendary moments together for the first time in real time. Its a weird place to be
Completely agree, not knowing the vocal direction Hongki is going. He's almost never part of kpop fans' lists of best vocalists which is a shame sometimes but at least the industry, his peers, and his juniors know (and ofc his/ftisland fans)
He is not counted in the lists of k pop because he is not part of it. Hongki is compared to the outstanding rockers of korea, not the main vocalists of boy bands. they are in different categories. he is a mentor and a vocal coach, Hong's voice is recognized by koreans
@@Lea0853 FTISLAND is part of the kpop realm or else they wouldn't have had struggles of getting the public to take them seriously as a band. Also, they label themselves as K-pop on digital stores like iTunes.

I do love Hongki's voice. It has such a full, rich sound, but there's no doubt that Jaejin is great too. Fun fact: Hongki is good friends with Heechul from Super Junior and appeared in the music video for Heechul and Jungmo's song Close Ur Mouth.
Apologies late to everything at the mo, (parent in hospital so time not my own). yes have been asking for this one for a long time and thanks this is a newer version to me. And yes Jae Jin is fab always shouting him out. "Future" next live with Hwe Seung😉

I would agree, there is a lot of really good vocalists out there, and Hongki absolutely can hang with the best of them all!! this is very much one of the more talented groups out there easy! I absolutely want to cover this next, so yeah this was an amazing recommendation!

i wish you can watch the version 5 of them, it's perfect with full of 5 members
I will seek it out!

I absolutely love this performance. Been watching it daily for sometime now.
its so good!
Hongki is legit a vocal coach atm. He's in another idol reality show as a vocal mentor.
he would be and is probably ok!
