    I don't mind pre-orders too much because I don't really maintain a huge collection to begin with. I can think of 2 or 3 things I have on pre order right now. If something is on my shelf and it doesn't fill me with joy every time I see it, it's gotta go lol What does bother me is the wait time between when I pre-order something and when I actually get it in hand. It'll be interesting to see where this goes for Super7.

      In case you’re not a regular Mezco collector, they’re pretty notorious for that. Their last similar figure (Keaton Batman) with the seamless body and metal armature design was three years from preorder to release. I hope that Godzilla isn’t nearly as long.

    I prefer preorders only because I don't have a consistent flow of disposable income that I can use all willy nilly the moment new figures come out. Knowing months in advance gives me time to financially prepare for it, especially with the price Super7 is asking for.

    After seeing Godzilla X Kong, I decided that I would hold out for a Hiya Skar King figure. It'll make a nice present for myself for Christmas 2025.

    I am definitely getting burned out on preorders, especially as the wait time seems to get longer and longer. I had 2 preorders that finally showed up that were 2+ years since I'd ordered them, and I paid for them the day I ordered so it made me a bit anxious hoping they'd show up.

    I really like the Idea of the "in stock" model. I missed out on getting the -1 goji mostly because of the price at the time, and I couldn't justify it. I also tend to have really bad timing with preorder windows and only see them when there's only a day or two left on them.

    • @kaijucanuck4492
      @kaijucanuck4492  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The in-stock model will be somewhat new territory. Brian said the Minus One outperformed their expectations and they would have under ordered in an in-stock model. It will be a tough balance to land!

    If it wasn't for the preorder option, I wouldn't have a lot of my favorite figures. Always doing an 'in stock' sale doesn't give people a chance to be prepared for a figure to drop.

    Great vid! I would def get behind companies announcing products when they are available to purchase since the wait can be killer for consumers but I do see how it these could spiral into just getting the same figures over and over again.

    I've been trying to take advantage of the pile of loot system at BBTS, but most of my orders come in too far apart to ship together. I'm slowly transitioning to paying upfront which is always nice, and shopping on Kowkis or other stores like it. I'm with you, and want my Hiya figure as soon as possible. Haha

    I prefer pre-order, cuz it's a "pre-order or never own it" thing. Super7 may exist in Canada on stores, even if it's at a higher price. But such a thing doesn't happen here. When Tamashii products is considered niche already, now imagine a smaller company like Hiya and even smaller one like Super7. Thus far I only found 1 store that do sell Super7 ready-stock, even then it's always 1 in-stock only and not that much, only Ultimates few in selections. You'll see Hiya popped out ready-stock from time to time, but those are pre-order leftovers that some ppl just cancelled and sold out quick. Or another scenario is scalpers... no elaboration needed. So yea... not really supporting the ready-stock market here. It is annoying to have to wait. And with pre-orders, it's not certain when you'll receive it, especially in non-mainland and certainly not main target market country like mine. But it's either waiting, or overpaid/not owning it. I didn't get to buy Ultimates Destoroyah cuz there's no pre-order service of it then and when it's in stock, it's just too much. Now, some store do open pre-order for it, but still won't sell any ready-stock later. So if Super7 shuts down pre-order, I'm afraid I no longer have any access to getting their goods. Not that any pique my interest anymore for now (missing out on Rose Bio, Desu, Space, and Mogera), but in the future, that might change.

      Are you able to find places to get ReAction figures? Presumably they would handle retail partners like ReAction, where partners put up preorders after Super7 brings them in. I don't think it would affect your usual distribution channels too much

    • @panduallen6712
      @panduallen6712 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@kaijucanuck4492 Sadly, nobody sells ReAction here. Boy do I want that Shogun ReAction, especially the box one. I'm guessing it's cuz the general consensus here is still that Super7 is garbage and ReAction is an overpriced happy meal toys. Nobody shares it nor talk about it, especially not in a good light. So I guess any retail partners here don't see the value in selling them. My usual place to order Hiya seems to have connection to the mainland, dunno if it's Hiya directly or a Chinese distributor, but I don't think the same applies to Super7. I think how they did it with Super7 is that they're ordering it as a usual customer, not as partners. The cost for pre-ordering Super7 stuff is the equivalent of importing it on your own. Unlike Hiya and some other mainland-produced stuff that got zero international shipping cost and the exact same price as mainland price.

    I feel like if you don't pre-order you won't get it. Especially when there's people who buy up what stock they can to flip it on Ebay or Mercari. I'm tired of it though. I ordered the Neytiri statue from Iron Studios. It was anounced Dec 2022. It is now a year and a quarter later and it's not out yet. I think they originally stated that the release was supposed to be back in August. Who knows. Same deal with Spiral's Zilla, no news on when that thing will be out and they missed their quarter 1 2024 release window and yet they keep anouncing new product.

    Im getting tired of the preorder process anyways, but even when random restocks come they still get scalped. Such as the recent Mafex tiger stripe Wolverine reprint. I had that thing in the cart muliple time but every website I went on slowed down to a crawl and it "disappeared" from the cart. Its annoying but not much you can do.

    All great points. Listening to your interview with Brian, it was interesting hearing him talk about how Super7 will move going forward to maintain a steady supply/demand flow. I’ve never minded the preorders, the only thing I would worry about from switching to in-stock sales would be missing out on something that I would have previously had a month to preorder.
    I wouldn’t even mind seeing repaints of every character, I know collectors don’t love repaints but I’ve never been obligated to buy them unless I really prefer them. So, taking a chance on Titanosaurus wouldn’t be as big a risk if they released another “poster colors” version a year later or whatever. Things like that don’t bother me, and I’ve in fact been able to get figures that I initially missed because of that happening.
    It’s a balancing act for sure. Great video, and really good interview with Brian!

    I am loving this channel so much (especially as a fellow Canadian)
    I definitely am feeling the pre-order fatigue
    I have a few models reserved right now and I just feel like they're sort of holding my money hostage without seeing any immediate return, the dopamine when I place the order is high but then it dwindles because it's such a long wait time before I see them in my hands
    I get why they have to do this sometimes but I'd much rather have models I can order and get soon so that I don't run into potential monetary issues
    I can commit to them now but there's no promise something won't happen between now and the time the orders actually go through where I'll be stuck in a financial position that I won't be able to manage any more, that's my biggest issue with the pre-order model (since again, many of them won't take the money until the models are about to ship)

      As a Canadian we also have the looming threat of businesses going under before the product ever gets close to shipping. GameStop has a bunch of HIYA stuff for preorder shipping in Feb 2025 and I'm sat here wondering if Gamestop will even still exist in Canada by then

    I don't do preorders. truthfully, I'm the kind of person who buys on a whim, and buys things that are easily available. Frankly, Ill even pay a dollar or two extra just so I can get figures from amazon instead of preordering with a smaller store.
    I do look forward to super 7's future endeavors, but I'm not the kind of person to preorder, so if they just did medium runs that are just sold regularly I'd probably be a lot more interested.

    This could be a double Edgar sword for us to rely on buying preorders... If everything gets I. Stock at ones and we can't buy all the figures at that moment but just a few then we can run into the notion that figures can get sold out without us able to buy the rest of the set of figures on time...💡
