15 long years... it's been 15 long years since I played these games. I'd forgotten just how incredible the music was. The perfect intersection between nostalgic Kanto/Johto tracks and DS era soundfonts. The golden age of Pokemon. Games brimming with creativity and oozing polish, shown so clearly through all the music composed. I like where my life is right now, but a small part of me still longs for the feeling I got ripping the wrapping paper off my copy of SoulSilver on Christmas Day. What a wonderful adventure I went on.

They just don’t make Pokemon remakes any worthwhile anymore ever since black and white 2 released. Every other game and remakes of ruby and sapphire and diamond and pearl were not good and the sales of the games could prove it.
HGSS didnt break 13 million sales, ORAS sold over 14 million, BDSP sold over 14 million, LGPE sold over 15 million. If you go by sales, all the remakes AFTER HGSS were better. @@JCollects23

I love how in these games Viridian Forest has a happy almost nostalgic feeling as if it’s saying “you’re almost done with your journey, well done trainer” whereas originally it had this mysterious eerie tone signifying the beginning of your journey and the unknowns ahead.
Pokemon HeartGold and Soulsilver are truly the best Pokemon games: a fulfillment of the early versions, with mysteries and a rich storyline with, in the post-game, the confrontation with Red at the end of the end of the world, showing that things have come full circle. The music fits this masterpiece perfectly

I didnt play in the time but I remember seeing it and finding the most gorgeous game XD. I like the vibes from small city I get in this and I still like the game, though they have some problems.
I remember getting the fake version (because my parents wanted to cheap out) of this game for my NDS as a kid and it crashed so bad that I was so sad. My dad helped on refunding the game and actually getting the original one with the Pokewalker. I can pretty much say that my childhood was a bliss during this period of time and I missed it so much.
These were the best remakes, as person who played the og gen 2 on a green gameboy color, these remakes did them justice. in terms of music and extra content. Its why gen 2 and 4 are my two favorites

Look how they massacred my boy! I feel like they tried too hard to outdo or remix a soundtrack that was already a masterpiece. I wish they had been more faithful to the source material, and just rendered it with then-modern technologies.
