Not to mention the non existent defensive strategies. All they do is attack, attack, and attack, the defense are helpless 90% of the time which is totally unrealistic.

    Blue Lock is an anime that teaches you to win. The deep thought into this is usable for every area in your life be it sport or any other career. Most people rely on luck they get result but can rarely do it again. Its about finding your own formula to get the results you want over and over again and not only improving it but also adding more winning formulas in your arsenal and incorporating them into your being to the point that you do it without thinking, your subconscious just do it.

    Great review! To answer your question: If someone fails at Blue Lock, it's not that they aren't allowed to play soccer again. It's just that they're banned from ever playing for Japan internationally. Basically what Ego is saying is that they can still play the little leagues and have jolly good generic sports anime times at nationals or inter-high or whatever but they'll never get any further.

    • @itsrrraven
      @itsrrraven ปีที่แล้ว +81

      i mean, thats not even that much of a restriction further. its just saying not for japan. countries have their own national leagues, such as the EPL. and you could absolutely get scouted for these teams, and make a killing in the sport. all ego is saying is saying is that 'we want the best one here on the national team, if you arent the best, go somewhere else.'

    I used to play soccer when I was in high school as a winger so I find Blue Lock kinda relatable in terms of the "vibe" you get while on the pitch. Of course a lot of the action is exaggerated to make it look cool but the portrayal of the spirit of competitiveness isn't too far off honestly. i really enjoy the plot of blue lock and the main topic of egoism. but as an athlete myself i really tend to think of it as blue lock focuses on the individuality of an athlete when they're in a game. how you're always wanting to win and if you're really passionate about it, you'll pretty much do anything to win. i also like to think that it focuses on the mentality of the said athlete as a lot of the characters in blue lock have a certain goal and drive on why they play soccer and why they want to win. and as the manga is ongoing it really showed a lot of rivalry between current and former teammates, as well as how well one person deals with a certain kind of setting compared to someone else also in the same setting.

    I havent watched the anime yet but i am reading the manga and i have caught up to Ao Ashi too and they are like the complete opposites of each other, Blue Lock is about becoming an egoistic player that the team should revolve around and Ao Ashi is about an egoistic player becoming a team player, the only similarity is that both protagonists have "field vision" as their special ability but they are fundamentally opposing concepts, also Ao Ashi explains more soccer strategy than blue lock for the obvious reason that Ao Ashi treats football as a team sport and builds the concepts from the ground up so you learn along with Ashi, its great to understand football at a high level since Blue Lock doesnt really stop to teach you strats, they just do them

    i started reading blue lock when the anime adaption was announced around late summer last year because one of my favorite voice actor was casted as one of the characters. when i started reading it, i realized blue lock wasnt really about sports but like ego said, its about your OWN ego, your selfishness, being narcissist, ambition for yourself., not talent, but hard work. yk almost every shounen manga is about like "i have the power of my friends with me so i can win!" and reading blue lock kinda changed me on how i see that genre. i like that each characters has their own ambition but it doesnt run on others, but on themself. like the part where nagi abandoned reo wasnt really about betrayal, but how reo shouldnt have always relied on someone if he wanted something. he needed himself. its not a good analysis but its how i see blue lock which is why i love the selfishness.

I completely agree with you when you say that the argument about the anime being unrealistic isn't fully justified - the skills used by the players are definitely replicated in real life football. What I would say as i've watched both Bluelock and Ao Ashi:
    Bluelock is more of an adrenaline hype kinda anime. where it's like the spirit of playing competitive soccer and to be the best kinda thing because they need to have more ego to become the best striker in the world. even though the actions are exaggerated (although the actions aren't like crazy unrealistic) i think that helps extend the hyped moments, like i've watched it and my heart started racing, even reading the manga made my heart race.
    Ao Ashi is more of a soccer with a slice of life anime. where it's got a great plot and stuff like the main character goes through so many life altering moments but it's more like he figures out himself and then also focuses on the people around him, and is finally on the path to become a pro player at hopefully 16 -17. and it also has a slight hint of romance not really expanded on but there is something.
    overall i like both of the animes and i don't really have a favorite of either of them they are both really good and I'm happy to have gotten more good sport anime to watch

And after finishing the season I created my own scoring formula and became a better player overall. I learned that if you want to be the best you have to know how to score a goal in every possible situation with a scoring formula and your own personal skills. And most importantly I learn to be an egoist and that helped me a lot. Any way, my number 1 anime.

      @@Sei003 i swear, alot of people are thinking the same way. Kira feels way too important to be someone that you introduce in Chap1 like protagonist just gets deleted from the manga with no mentions. I mean this theory can really work since Kira was not present/mentioned during the U20 game. Maybe Kira already left japan to play for another country and tryout for their U18, he was already invited by the japanese U18 team as mentioned in chap1. And this is from the side story featuring Nagi and Reo where Reo was like all fan girl when he saw Kira at bluelock. This confirms that Kira is already a well known upcoming japanese star in the bluelock verse. We can also assume that Kira was ranked highest during the Tag game since we all know Bachira is the best in team Z, Bachira only wanted to go after the strongest in the room indicates Kira's level.
      I hope that Kira will be the final antagonist.

    this is how Brasilian kids play football, everyone fighting to be the big dog, sharpening their individual skills, creating trick shots, trick dribles, they started it as kids, went into professional playing like this, and thinking like this
    and then they are hired in an european team and get trucidated, barely can do a play that worth, because european teams are really fond of efficient team play

      It's a shift but not necessarily going against the premise. I'd argue that it becomes a bit more realistic as it goes on. With each new selection the level of talent rises greatly and rises to the point where it makes little sense to eliminate those people. A number of those players who are played off-position also end up realizing that they can go farther by switching away from being a striker. It's a way to still create the best striker while not preventing other talents from going to waste by just cutting them.

    Spoiler (no elimination spoiler):
    I gotta tell you, you have to read the manga because some of the things you say could be debated, like the characters that are undeveloped. only about 2-3 on the team actually don't really get developed in the manga but they have some kind of backstory is not like they are just there some of the characters which you might think are "useless" or "background characters become really important in the anime . And secondly in the manga they stopped doing the "squid game only one wins" therefore not everyone is getting eliminated meaning that everyone has an equal chance of being the best, there is no "end" goal after a certain plot which I will not spoil. There are also a lot of people saying "oh im not gonna watch it because is just like squid game and ik the main character will win" well you are incorrect you should definitely give the manga a try because the plot is not as cliché as you might think and secondly because the anime is only about half of the manga adapted into the 24 episodes (it still isn't the whole story in the anime so you will have to wait till season 2)

      One episode per match is overly fast and wouldn't be enough time to portray different phases of a plot-important game. Even 2-3 episodes is pretty brisk and is a good pace for early matches, but not for finale. Maybe you feel it's slow because you lose interest in some parts of a match?

    • @kookiekommenter
      @kookiekommenter ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To follow up on my previous comment, I do understand why you'd feel that things are a tiny bit too slow. For me, I feel a loss of "momentum" when they talk to each other a lot while the ball is supposed to be in play, which I don't feel while reading the manga because I can read the speech bubbles in an instant. I'm not faulting the anime for this, it's just a challenge of adapting to a different medium

    Although Blue Lock takes the concepts of "self-perservation/selfishness" to the extreme (on a surface level), the real message of the show is to find and develop your own ego. I think a lot of people confuse Blue Lock's idea of being "egoistic" with being "egotistic". They are two different things:
    - "Egoistic" is about putting your own needs and interests before those of others.
    - "Egotistic" is about having an exagerrated sense of self-importance (in a narcissistic/delusional way).
    Again, Blue Lock revolves the idea of being "EGOISTIC".
    "Humility" & "ego/boldness" are like Yin & Yang. You need to have a balance of both. The reason it needs to be said in modern day that we need to develop our egos is because modern soceity (not just Japan's) has become too hung up on the humility/modesty side of things. While it's not inherently wrong, we have become too obsessed with being "virtuous" and "self-less", and have been, almost completely, demonizing the idea of the ego and following our desires.
    Blue Lock is basically teaching us this (but in an exagerrated way for entertainment of course).

      It's all set up in the first episode. Isagi has the chance to take a shot at the goal, but he reflexively passes to his teammate because it's just the expected thing to do; but then they lost. If you're not giving your own self every opportunity to succeed, it doesn't count as being genuinely considerate, because you're not considering your own potential. That's a theme that's _way_ deeper than just being about sportsball. Blue Lock speaks to the depths of the human experience. I'm glad to watched it this far, and look forward to a next season.

    I am pretty sure it's not that you can NEVER play soccer if you fail BlueLock but more that you can never play for the Japanese National Team and I suppose not go pro either. But let's be honest here, the majority of these players were never going to go pro or play for Japan. So the stakes for losing aren't as high as it would first appear in the grand scheme of things. But I think that's what's great about the anime. Objectively, the stakes for losing isn't high but for the characters in the moment, it means everything!

    • @kookiekommenter
      @kookiekommenter ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Agreed, plus failing in BlueLock feels harsher to the character because they are suddenly forced to face the reality that they were never good enough to make it to the National Team when so many others in Blue Lock are better than them. Without Blue Lock they could have carried on naively thinking "if I work hard I'll make it, I just need to win more games, be on a better team, and get noticed"

    • @ARMYALEX1869
      @ARMYALEX1869 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "So the stakes for losing aren't as high"
      I completely disagree. They're the best 300 players in Japan for a reason. With a skill this good, do you really think they would settle with a high school or college team or maybe a mid-level league? They obviously want to keep striving for the top and climb as high as possible, with the peak being playing for Japan. Just look at Hinata from Haikyuu for example. In the beginning he wants to become like Little Giant, his idol from Karasuno high school. And look where he is now post graduation.

    I played basketball, football, golf, and soccer briefly when I was in elementary school, as well as baseball. This show immediately registered with me, if you've never been in the flow state of mind you haven't lived. I was literally voted the MVP in my basketball team then I'd turn around and start gaining muscle and weight to make the football season then absolutely obliterate in that, then go back onto the diet to be ready for basketball season. I remember one time my Vic coach was playing a practice game and we actually pushed him into that flow state and he was going crazy on us. Dude literally jumped out of bounds grabbed the ball midair and flung it back in bounds to keep the game going. The only downside to that was the new guy wasn't prepared for it and got smacked in the face with a basketball at full force, dude was bleeding all over the court with a busted lip. But even then I remembered I was playing at the boys & girls club and I tripped on my laces and literally smacked the floor face first and immediately got up with what felt like a single movement and still made a 3 pointer, when you're that focused pain doesn't exist your only goal is to score at all costs. Hell I had the other teams family members come up to me after I just got done kicking their son or little brothers ass and tell me how amazing I was. This anime brought that feeling back to me while watching it especially when the MC just walked through all the players he just defeated. Even in football when I was still playing flag my coach told me he'd get me a full size bag of chips for each flag I got. I literally dove through the line and got trampled by cleats, but I still got the flag and the chips. Like my father got mad at me because my team won the championship and he was waiting for us to lose so he wouldn't have to be there all day long.

    yea bro the pressure when you are near the goal about to score or if you are the goalkeeper/ defender and the striker with the ball is coming towards you even if it is only mere 2-3 seconds the shit feels insane like bro. So what ever karu said at 5:24 is accurate and feels like he is speaking from experience and the part where it isn't necessarily supposed to be a physical sports but it is less likely to happen in a esport as people normally don't take it that seriously unless for example you are playing competitive mode in valorant where your rank is at stake similarly in bluelock those players' career is at stake because if the are the best 300 strikers of japan then it is undeniable that they are looking to create a living for themselves through football or soccer

    The toughest thing Blue Lock teaches you compared to other anime is how to create your own formula of success, wether it be in a sport or any other category that requires skill.

    As someone who played 🏈 I wanted to be the best on my team the person who carried the team to victory I mean which athlete wouldn't want to be the reason their team won a game it's and extremely overwhelming sensation so for the concept of being the best in blue lock it hits close to home for me and that's why I enjoy it.
