  • How many ways are there to cook a chook? Well, we can show you quite a few! After preparing for this video we realized just how much cooking gear we have! Come and join us as we guide you through the maze of cooking gear we use and some we have thought about using. Looking at the pros and cons of each. We look at some cooking methods, Paul cooks up a beautiful Cambodian Chicken Curry. Our gear includes a Webber Baby Q, Slimline induction hotplate, Shuttle Chef and a Magimix.
    FREE GIFT: The folks at Thermal Cookware have kindly offered our viewers a free gift with the purchase of the Shuttle Chef. The gift is a Loaf Tin valued at $40.00. So if you are keen to get a hold of one ring Lindi on 1 300 667 151 she will both take your order and arrange for the addition of the gift to be added to the package.
    Travel Buddy on Ed 4WD & Camping channel: • Travel Buddy Oven Door...
    We bought our Thermal Cooker through www.thermalcoo... (no affiliation) There are other places that sell it too
    Cambodian Chicken: Mix 1.5 tbsp red curry paste, 1/2 tsp Tumeric, 1/3 can coconut milk. Add 4-6 chicken thighs (skin off), and mix in sauce. Add 1 tsp lemongrass paste, 1/2 tsp Cardamon pwdr, 2 tsp chicken stock pwdr and a squeeze of lime juice. Slow cook for 4-5 hrs? It's nice with shredded coconut stirred through at the end

    This is another fantastic video. Who knew! I will be getting my Moho shortly. I had thought to take along a 3L pressure cooker (probably the instapot duo) and do my main cooking in that when I was on a powered site. Then I would cook a large batch of food (3-4 recipes in a day), and cryo-seal the food packets and then freeze. My MH has a oven/grill, cooktop (1x electric, 2x gas). So I would do all my other cooking on those items. Then I saw the thermal cooking and thought I would get a thermal cooker instead of the pressure cooker, and cook in van off-grid. Freezing leftovers (as above) and carrying on. BUT I had no idea about odours! wow ... now that has changed my mind totally and I will be rethinking everything, except for the thermal cooker. I can't thank you enough

    My wife says her air fryer is her favorite bit of cooking kit but only used when on a powered site as they are quite power hungry. Thanks for the idea of lowering the Baby Q as well, as I currently have to remove our lid for travel storage. Safe travels guys.

    Thanks for showing what you use. Instead of a travel buddy we carry a 12v Portable Food Warmer in the vehicle to warm up snacks for lunch. Just put food in close lid & 1/2 hr or so later nice & hot when we stop. These cost around $50/$60 from Anaconda, Supercheap, BCF, Repco etc. Works from cigarette lighter outlet.

    We use a microwave, an air fryer, an induction plate & our Nespresso mini if we are hooked up to power, otherwise it’s a propane camp stove & our camp ovens with our fire pit when we are off grid. As an extra note, I checked your video description to get the links you mentioned. In particular the one for Thermal Cookware. It appears that the site's address is up for sale, and the site no longer exists. I had been checking these out (not that brand) and have decided to use the Billy Boil.

    Hi Guys
    Nice episode. We have a VW Crafter Kampervan so space will always be a premium for us. We haven't had it long and have only been away 4 times and so far we are ok with the inside gas cook top, propane stove for outside and an induction hotplate. We have also used some camp kitchens.

      @Beyond The Grey OZ Our camp oven gets quite a few outings, it's major use is cooking up 2months supply of dog food. Other dishes from the camp oven have been roasts, Dorito lasagna and a few others, but I do remember that the dog food was better tasting than the Brazilian chicken and mushroom stew. 😋

    Good video. Have you considered a spun steel camp oven which is much lighter and once you get use to using it just as good as cast iron. When we can use a camp fire we do a lot of cooking simply wrapping stuff up in Aluminium foil and throw in the coals. On my wish list is an Ooni portable gas pizza oven but the price is north of $900.

    • @beyondthegreyoz
      @beyondthegreyoz  ปีที่แล้ว

      Spun steel would be good 👍 We saw those pizza ovens and they look good 👍 but I already eat too many Parma’s. When we started I thought we would use more camp fires but haven’t?

    Great episode, we use an electric pressure cooker all the time. we use it for baking, soups, stews, rice just about anything. Once it has reached pressure it uses next to no power. also love the induction cooker for its great temp control, instant heat and its ability to not be affected by the wind. Have an air fryer which is also fantastic. just a few more things to consider.
