I bought a 1948 Chevy farm truck for $35 at an auction. Up under the dash was an old envelope with money in it. It was pretty mouse eaten but the bank gave me $380.00. There were other bills but the bank would not pay off for pieces smaller than 1/2 a bill. The truck had belonged to a cattle ranch way back. The newest bill we could read was 1964....James

Silas Have you checked the old 40's and 50's cars yet? That is usually where you find, wheat pennies, silver coins, ect. Imagine finding old bills or clothing in the trunks! Best of luck! God Bless, (Glen). WV.

My buddy has a pretty high throughput wrecking yard - he has several tow contracts in addition to realtors clearing sold and rental properties, and local businesses selling worn out work trucks. He's too busy to go through cars, but everytime I go out to visit I close the visit with a scrounging session like you did here, and I have got some great stuff! It's so exciting! Never found a Benjamin, but lots of change, and I have a lifetime supply of drywall and deck screws, some great tools, an awesome floor jack, and half a dozen really nice pocket knives. I think it's my favorite thing to do, I could do it every day. My pappy used to get parts for his work trucks from the local wrecking yard when I was a kid, and he and the owner let me hightail it out into the yard to scrounge - you'd never see that nowadays! It's a pleasure to watch you have fun, and I was as excited as you to spy that C-note!!!! Keep up the great videos - I think you've found one of the youtube "sweet spots" - You love your work, have a great eye for junk and art, and a really good video demeanor - a pleasure to watch! Take care, and keep up the good work!!!!!!

My friend I use to work in a salvage yard, found all kinds of things, but the most money I've found was $300.00 cash in one car & in another car a Pound or so of *ucking badass weed, that was in the late 70's. I was told it was probably came from California because it had no seeds.....I sold 3 quarter pounds for $300.00 per quarter pound & the last quarter pound for myself. This happened in two weeks time...$900.00 & $300.00 that my friends was alot for me when I was only making $4.00 hour, $160.00 a week, after taxes & all I was bring home a little over $100.00 a week....THE GOOD OLD DAYS.....Gas .35 cents a gallon, milk .90 cents a gallon, quart of oil .60 cents....man I sure do miss the good old days...😥😥😥.....

This kind of stuff is always fun. I used to detail cars at a dealership. We’d find all sorts of neat stuff in used cars. Jewelry, cash, electronics, and paperwork I’d try to return to the previous owner. Every now and then we couldn’t get the stuff back to them so we’d get dibs. I’ve found a sealed bottle of Gentleman Jack, SiriusXM stuff, gift cards, cash, tools. Even found someone’s personal pleasure device. That one was three layers of gloves and straight to the dumpster ordeal.

How neat is that, 100 dollar 💰 bill. I use to buy car's from tow yards in Spokane. My best find was a lady's ring that came in at 95 hundred. I was hooked from there to dig deep in them all. I agree it's the fun of the hunt. Thanks 👍 for sharing.

I was cleaning up inside an old house I was remodeling once and the street address was 516. There was an unopened envelope on the floor postmarked about three years prior addressed to 516 but a different street. I almost threw it away but figured I’d open it up. Not like it’s a federal offense or anything! So it’s a letter to some traveling salesmen about long distance phone call charges or something - and a twenty dollar bill falls into my lap! That was the best day ever. 🍻

Had fun watching your search, and finding cash! I used to buy scrap cars, and always searched them. One place I occasionally found cash was behind the ash tray. Bought an older Volvo for $20, and found $50. Most fun find was an AK47 in the trunk of a 1980 Malibu, complete with case and ammo. Had it checked by Seattle PD, and it came back clean. Now I search through storage auctions, one of the last few mysteries left. I'm hooked! Good luck with your future adventures.

Great as always Silas. Around Christmas at Walmart walking along we saw some trash on the floor. Everyone was kicking it and stepping on it. My wife picked it up with plans to throw it in the trash. It was a hundred dollar bill waded up in a store receipt. She considered turning it in or having them make an announcement but thought against causing a stampede of people all trying to claim the money that did not belong to them or having the store employees keep it. So she kept it. Not every day cars pay you to buy them. Until next time. Thanks for the adventure.

  • @EfficientRVer

Nice score. Tell your friend some limit on the number of extra tires per car! Unless doing them the favor is worth it for you.
Flip the pages in the owner's manual and check the pockets in the manual holder, that's a pretty common place for hiding money along with the registration or even title. And if you ever find a pair of tire irons in a car, take the spare (and maybe all the tires) off the rims, that's a real gangster/smuggler place to hide stuff. Likewise, shining a flashlight through the spare rim and taking a peek isn't a bad idea, because under a bolted-down spare is a pretty secure spot that isn't going to get searched without a warrant.
This most cash I've found was two $100 bills in the outside breast pocket of a suit jacket at a Goodwill outlet, when helping a (now ex) girlfriend pick clothes for her eBay reselling business. It had spent probably 6 weeks on the rack at a Goodwill store before coming to the outlet. What's funny is that I'd many times found a dollar or two, business cards, or receipts/whatever, in suits or blazers, but never in an outside breast pocket, always the outside hip pocket or inside breast pocket. So I never bothered checking there, but for some reason this one time (and from then on) I did. It was of a vintage that it was probably a guy's family cleaning out the closet after he died, and donating all his old clothes to Goodwill. Or someone downsizing their wardrobe years after retiring.

When I owed my scrapping company I found a bank envelope with $500.00 folded and tucked down the back seat. There was also a 84 ford escort that we got in and there was a new PS2 in the box in back. This was when the PS3 just hit the market so it wasn't a big money find, but Im sure I got something out of it. My business evolved over the years. First I was just scrapping them. Then I started pulling off small parts to sell on eBay and scrapping the cars. Then I started pulling off almost everything and scrapping shells. Then I moved to just buying other peoples car parts inventory to now where I buy the inventory of places that went under so 90% of my stock is brand new parts. Its less work, almost no work and the profits are so high. Now sure where I go from here, but Im always open to the next step.

    • @AdventuresMadeFromScratch
      @AdventuresMadeFromScratch  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I started with selling parts and gradually switched over to crushing everything. It’s become much more profitable and less stressful. Shipping costs killed parts in my opinion. I still have massive amounts of vintage parts on shelves I’d like to find a home for other than the shredder.

That car had to belong to a waitress. Guest checks, multiple pens and small payroll checks. She would just toss change in the car. Cash bills were just forgotten. Really enjoy your videos.

That analog phone hooks into the satellite system we used when I was offshore fishing, the bag phones catch a pretty penny!

Should save all the keys, they are mostly brass. Just toss them in a 5 gallon pale to turn in at a scrap dealer some day. Or even any easy to remove aluminum parts that are free of steel then to the scrap dealer too.

You could gather up any pens and pencils or school supplies and give them to a teacher in a low income area, to give to their students. The little treasures in a jar could also be used by teachers as prizes for special things a student does.

VGA cable and a mouse connection comes out of the ash tray of that BMW? Cool I think.

I'm trying to think of why you'd have a VGA cable in a car?

28:33 looks like a Bluetooth FM Transmitter for Car, Audio Adapter, and Receiver. Pretty typical in older cars that didn't have the newer technologies of today.

I'm sure you have enough cars that don't get on camera, that you open a door to look and just close it and say no way I'm sticking my hands in there
