Tom, what a great son you are and what a great father "The Ginge" is. You talk and listen to each other's point of view and all for the good of your cows 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I’m liking the Hiirliman. Seems to work real well. So nice you’re able to get a 3rd cut. Ian P is already tucking into his bales and won’t have another cut.
Always love watching your vids as a farm hand I’m always learning and if I’m ever at a loss I find your videos so informative and very easy and great to watch
12:20 that hay is like our late first crop, just less yield. Cows will love it. Some crunchy first crop with nice lush grass underneath makes a really good bale for the cows.
Love the drone views and especially those late evening shots. Very pretty. Thanks for the explanations from you and your dad about the grasses and how they grew. Interesting for a non-farmer like me to hear that discussion. That Hurlimann looks great!
Tom it’s good to communicate with your elders get advice and think it through. Yes the grass is awesome and got good quality of color and thick will do good for the cattle . I think it probable would do best to reseed that field and fertilize then next week add liquid manure over the top . Your farm is looking a lot better with all the mud around the liquid tank. The barn is awesome looks very good.
7:59 best way to do it. And when I re engage PTO on any discbine, I’ll start it up with the engine running about 1400rpm at the most coming from a dead stopped discbine. It’s really hard on the machine to slam it in gear. Some tractor PTOs really don’t slip in like the Ford 5000 I’m used to. A lot of these newer tractors are either on or off, RIGHT NOW. Slam bang.
Yet again another terrific video Tom Nothing better than chopping grass - we've just started chopping in the Barossa Valley, South Australia A video where we've seen the dairy herd, the beef herd The Ginge is looking so relaxed, after is break and your plans are coming together I'm sure with our continued support and the new subscribers the "green" Hurlimann can stay
your the man who has everything in life tom. a new tractor and three cuts of silage. weve just done our second cut here in Devon....... 30 acres cut and a grand total of 49 round bales off 30 acres....... no new tractors for us this year thats for sure
that hurly has a lot of the deutz look to it, which is great given they are the same family, and the new deutz tractors are some of the nicest looking ones out there of late, especially the black ones
You know what they say Tom, the couple that Chops grass together stay together. I think maize is a super idea, the cows will certainly thank you for it 👍
Hi Tom on one of the farms I worked on we would broadcast grass seed straight onto maize stubble (no plough) with a quad bike, rolled it. In the spring took a really good first cut of silage off, ploughed it up and drilled maize again and repeated every year. It worked really well getting two good crops off every year. Spread muck on the field between the silage cut and ploughing for maize. it ws a cheap cut of grass between maize crops.
Love the vids Tom. I think it would be cool to see you guys do some maize silage. And I'm really digging the brand new hurlyman tractor. Out of the tractors I've seen you run on your farm the hurly seems to fit best imo
YAY!!! Warrnambool! 😁 My dad and his partner drove from Adelaide to Sydney a few years back and I made up a very detailed itinerary of their different stops, it was like a book. 1 of the things I had to include was the Warrnambool Wombat by Jimmi Buscombe! Some of his pieces around Warrnambool are amazing! I'm not sure about his silo owl that glows in the dark though 🤔 😳 😬 He's a lovely fella, seems very down to earth and was only happy to answer my questions when I messaged him 😁 Your visitors are very lucky, Warrnambool seems like a very beautiful place to live 💖
Made me chuckle when you mentioned my mate John Kirkham at Eastham Hall Caravans. Give him my best when you see him. The Hurli looks a great tractor for you stock boys. Mad as ever Tom. Brilliant.
Another great video 👍🏻 the huerlimann tractor looks awesome. Recently been binge watching all your videos its great to see the progression of you and your farm over the years 😄 keep up the good work 👍🏻👍🏻
Its sooo important to get a front mower on your Farm... Time is very important for silaging... So go for it Tom when you buy/ borrow a newer tractor an get it with a Front PTO. You'll be soo much faster then Greets from Germany
Hi Tom. just thought I would let you know that Itook a Harvest Festival Service in Church on Sunday wearing my "thank a farmer" apron and my TP Farm life hat. Theme was thanksgiving. Bless you
I regrassed a couple of years ago as well. A mix with clover, and it hasn't stopped growing. You've already got some seeds of the cut, so they should do well
Regarding the idea to replant corn(maize) where the grass is getting a bit older I would suggest planting a legume of some sort after to increase the nutrient cycling by allowing the soil biology to break down the carbon rich materials left by the turned over sod. That way the corn(Maize) will have a very easy time taking us alot of nutrients as well as legumes generally will help fill in your protein costs. Just my 2 cents have a good one and great video!
Holy moly that’s the last thing I expected to see haha family from Warrnambool haha I only lived 40 min from there cool as! Hey Tom you better buy that tractor!
Anther smashing video Tom your new tractor is flying throw all the feilds you have cut you love the new tractor Tom it’s great to see you doing your 3rd cut it’s a very interesting video Tom keep smashing the great content out Tom your just awsome Tom and your happy when your cutting grass. Thanks from bryon
Some wise English men have tought me to ALWAYS, not just sometimes, look on the bright side of life.... On another level; I like the new Hurli's snout. It says :'get on with it mate, we haven't got all day', but with a slightly mischievous grin...
Great video again Tom the tractor seems to suit your farm one thing I would suggest is if you get one is to get extra lights on the side of the cab it looks a bit dark were the front of the mower is a extra light ether side would make a big difference to when using in the dark but keep up with the great video 👏👏👍👍
I’m envious of your third cut. My second was short due to drought and third never grew. What did and does grow is eaten direct by the cattle. Am 20% short of Winter forage and unsure how to ensure they have food to last ‘till Spring grass.
Hi Tom, go the maize! I reckon you should try putting clover in the paddocks at the same time as the maize! Then drill rye into it after the maize is off.
here in canada when guys are starting to think the drought is going to affect the feed pile they plant sweet clover, its usually a pretty drought hardy plant.
This is great crop to feed to the sheep! I'd love to mow a crop like that myself! Would love to be able to get new seedings of the tarp on the mower as well tbh :D
Really great video Tom. No you have used the new Huliman what is your final verdict that or the Case? Think growing maize will give the land a little rest, plus it can be added into the sileage clamp.
Great video tom!yea I reacon maize is a great idea were a dairy farm in new Zealand we grow about 120 acers of maize it is very expensive but you don't know how much better the cows look and how much more milk they produce.so yea I think it's a great idea.
We intentionally let first go late. To get a nice heifer hay, it reseeds. I have cut fields in the past that were cut late for years, and it was thick.
The new hurlimann looks really good and practical. Did you use something to show you where the manholes are ? now that you have a great GPS map, you may use it to avoids littkle costly mistakes ... Loved the seeds saving, looking to you using it ...
I worked for a beef cattle and row crop farmer for 10 years after we sold out our dairy business. He always said the hay may not be the best but it beats a snowball. He would bail some of the worst hay fields I’d ever seen but the cows can pick through it to get the good grass. The only problem with that is that all those weeds and unwanted grasses like Johnson grass got spread all over his pastures. Johnson grass is a big expensive headache for farmers to control in my area.
That hurliman is a nice tractor but so was the case! I you buy one of the 2 I would suggest a front linkage with pto so you can get a front mower eventually. That would speed up mowing for ya
Real nice on your grasses. That was cool with the seed you caught! Maybee clean it and then spread it. Bucket list for new tractor, Radio with Bluetooth, Front PTO, and a 20 speaker Harmon-Kardon sound system, and more usb points. since im in the states i didn't know Hurliman was still making tractors! Real cool old one and new one!
the Tom Pemberton "Experience", or as I call it "pinging thru the day" always a wild ride. I see you cutting 10 acres of BEAUTIFUL grass, we have to irrigate to get anything close to the yield get on 875 acres it takes a bit longer .and no 3rd cutting Milk ON oh great one!!! God Bless the Ginger Guy..................Tractor Date with the Mrs.
Tom it may still be summer when your cutting, but I’m watching on the 27 of September it’s fall now. We have been getting a lot of rain here in Ontario Canada right now. My lawn could be cut as hay the problem is it’s way too small. Another great video
Hurliman looks good! Interesting as always listening to the ginge talk about grass, would the new Hurliman have enough power to runs front and rear mowers if you got a front PTO on it?
only problem with two into one is both fighting for water and sun and nutrients, in winter do you ever think of plowing upa field to to turn the soil over and put fresh grass in. (cover crop) I know pretty hard to do with limited fields but even just do one each year or two.If you pick maze i'm pretty sure there one made for dry summmer not 100% Great video and Hurlyman does look great on the farm suits it but that console bang your knee good but like you said was a smooth ride.

Great video Tom! Lovely to see the influence you have on the next generation of farmers. 🙂
Great video Tom, the Ginger Warrior is so knowledgeable about all things farming and contributes so much to your videos! 👍🏻
The night time drone footage of the Hurlimann mowing under lights is so atmospheric. It is a beautiful machine.
12:20 that hay is like our late first crop, just less yield. Cows will love it. Some crunchy first crop with nice lush grass underneath makes a really good bale for the cows.
The backpack falling out the back glass @ 22:16 is epic! Love you Tom, another great video!
Great video good to see you and your dad having a good chat about the crop.
Beautiful pictures especially in the dark. Love seeing your farmlife. Most I like the videos about the cows. They are so curious and friendly .❤
