      Exactly! Loving/supporting a particular brand/model is about the package, what powers it is less important. You can still be a Holden guy, love the way the car looks and feels and drives, even if it's got a Ford motor. Who cares what the trolls think, guys like this are having more fun than we'll ever know.

      yeah budget my backside hahaha mad car though :D 20k engine, 5k trans, 3k ecu, bout a 3k turbo plus say another 5-10k on all the conversion bits n peices incl. diff n tailshaft, brakes too, 500 for the car lol yep sounds pretty budget lol

    At least it'll have a rear suspension set up, that can put the power to the ground. Funny how a 23 yr old car, has a more technical suspension offering than the 2017 equivalent fgx Ute.

      Live axle till vu Ute? was it? Any way, point was great motor. Poor rear ends in Ford's. As tech developed they didn't really set the bar with chassis suspension set ups. Imo

    the commodore was ment to have the rb in it.so the taxi donk would be a easy fit,a barradore I think if holden kept with the rb instead of the mang,holden would be still smoking the falcon.

      @@II_4_R_Z_IIholden was ment to keep the rb series going in the vn commodore then last min swapped to the v6. that's why there is the massive radiator gap.the body was designed for the rb dirty 30/so the taxi motor would fit easy.no secret as to what is better in the rb is a lot better then the barra,if holden stayed with the rb,the slang ford chucks at holden would of been the other way around

    would be a cool project for yas, take a commodore anyone doesn't matter and do a what's involved in doing the conversion series? I understand if u do it yourself it can be done for around 5/6k for a stockish engine swap but would be cool to see the ins and outs and the cost factor etc. even just an atmo swap would be great. considered doing a n/a barra+ 6 speed man into a vn just as cool daily/weekend warrior just a fun car you can punt through the twisties or cruise to the coast in without worrying about it swappin ends on ya. don't need 700hp to have fun. na barra with cams, headwork, zorst and a tune can net 300hpish with the 6 speed and say 4.11s she'd be fun through the twisties :D
    my budgets at 0 mostly so can't really afford crazy turbo setups or the associated maintenance required :( be nice if I could............

    I wish I could learn how to tune cars, I've always wanted to get into it but there are no courses or anyone with a dyno around me let alone would be willing to teach me

      Really need a dyno to do it safely, tuning isn’t the most difficult thing if you’ve got the equipment to do it. Cracking codes and fucking about with standard ecu’s is where the difficulty comes into it. Putting together a good engine combination is more involved than all the above. Just get your hands on something you can tune and have a go.

      same here @v8Luver64 im just starting to play around with hp tuner well a mate is teaching me a little bit by bit, we are currently looking at a programe called pcm teck its a programe designed by ford for ford ba bf fg mainly that allows you to get into all the standard ecu programes to do a full upgrade to suit your specs , its about $1000 for the program and $300 for the obd2 cable still way cheaper than a halteck , hope to win lotto (joking) one day to build my own garage to include a dyno n full workshop

      @@1971xahardtop PCMTEC is well worth the money imo and only getting better with every update. Haltech would be the go purely for it's live tuning but I think they still don't have ZF tuning support? I'm waiting on PCMTEC's data logging before moving ahead.

      I think it will pan out to be a small budget relative to what it will run.
      Remeber you can pick up a vs ute in good nick for a few grand. It is a lot lighter than a BA to FG so there is less money to spend in chasing power right there.

    i used to have a VS ute, 2000 model, i don't think this build would be a " budget " build, the Turbo alone is worth more than my ol' VS...lol ! great results though ! I'm seeing 9 second passes before the Taxi hits 10s, just saying :)

      @ChrisHallett83 never said that it would be cheaper to build a v6. Budget means low cost build, not a full built barra engine with what i can only consider is a built auto too. 540kw out of stock running gear would lower the cost by thousands and then but considered 'budget'

    Why are people not turbo changing the Holden V6 that came in the commodore. The only reason I can come to is the V6 is rubbish and why would ya bother spending money on it.

      A V configuration requires more fabrication. A twin turbski setup requires two oil lines, two wastegates, two exhausts, two intercooler inlets.

    How do people even get this stuff certified !! Most of these guys just get dodgy certification guys that know nothing of what the regulations say ADR rules say if you put a different motor in a car you also need to have the same suspension from the engine that car came from !!’ However it is clear all these guys are all doing illegal dodgy stuff !! Everyone says yes wow amazing !! However illegal for the road waste of time

      I find most guys who know and work on cars don’t really care. I’m one of them and I’m not a fan of commodores but there’s many Holden things I’d like to have, just like Ford, Chev, Mopar etc, all cars have their good and shit points, stop the hate and enjoy what’s on offer 👍

      @@richiezammit3462 why? their all as good and as bad as one another. I used to be like u up into my late 20s until I realised it doesn't even matter what u drive they're all as good and as bad as one another, all cars have their issues no matter what the badge, my dailies a Mitsubishi challenger and it's honestly better built than any commodore I've ever owned lol it's a bit underpowered for towing yeah but as a daily it's great though planning on trading it for a ranger as I need the towing capacity and the diesel to tow my vn burnout car around in the last 10 yrs I've found i like 1000s of different makes n models and also found holdens aren't that great in the grand sceme, the ford 6s have dominated the holden 6s since the ol 4L crossflow came in which is the grandfather of the barras :D should learn to appreciate all makes n models afterall we're all car lovers here :D
