Hey girl Hey! Thanks for this recipe. Do you have a favorite Pikliz recipe?
The Piman Bouk looks delicious. How similar (or not so similar) is the flavor of sour orange to vinegar? When I was harvesting a lot of hot peppers from the garden over the summer, I made a yummy hot vinegar, which is also used on anything you would put hot sauce on. I’m going to look for sour oranges at a local African or Caribbean market. Actually I also have a Mexican market near me that I can check! I have seen the bottled juice in the International aisle but I’ve never actually used it. I prefer to try to find fresh first. Thanks again!
Hey hun! I’ll post my pikliz recipe soon! Vinegar is more acidic and harsh. Although it’s often used as a substitute for limes & sour oranges, I rarely use it. I don’t like the artificial taste.
Yes I agree! I hope you find the sour oranges cause it’s better than the bottled sour orange juice.
@@ruttybthanks!!
What would be the equivalent of a sour orange here in the U.S.? Would an unripe orange give the same flavor?
Nope, it doesn’t have the same flavor. I’ve seen sour oranges in the States. Mainly in Hispanic and Asian supermarkets. They’re also called bitter orange or Seville orange.
Can you use lime or lemon instead of sour oranges??
I’ve never tried it. It seems like it would work. But sour oranges aren’t as acidic as limes/lemon.
