I think the gorosei are essentially imu's satellites. "Saint (insert planet)". They all appear to have awakened devil fruits because imu is the one whos actually awakened.
Vegapunks satellites were able to communicate telepathically, but each had their own personality.
Im not entirely sure how that translates to their yokai forms, but i think its a fitting theory.
Imu is no scientist. That would make no sense at all. They wanted a mother flame. Why not make it themselves then? For them to be satelites means imu is on vegapunks level. If he was able to make all this then the world gov would have had a pacifista army and mother flame bombs from the start of the series. He literally CAN NOT be a scientist. None of the celestial dragons can be.

I think that we have already been told how the Gorosei got their fruits while St S. Was talking about Bonnie's power. He said he powers had been "augmented" and it kind of leads me to believe that Imu and the Gorosei have began to alter the essence (or "juice" if you will) and have (or had maybe) the ability to mix and match different aspects of different fruits. Perhaps Imu was also "juiced" and added to their concoctions as well.
I think the world govt. renamed these magic fruit to "devil" fruit to vilify them. I think the fruit are all actually "god" fruit, and Imu's power gives the gorosei true "devil" fruit power. Otherwise, how does it make sense that a "devil" fruit gives someone the abilities of a "Sun God"?

So I have theory that Imu is actually a mythological zoan fruit user gone wrong. We know from Luffy and Lucci and others that zoans allow them to transform into some mythical being or beast. We also know that zoan fruit users awakened gain an incredible boost in power, like lucci. But we also know that the fruit itself can make you go mad and lose all self awareness like the jailer beasts in impel down. What if Imu ate a zoan fruit that awakened and ended up similarly to the jailer beasts? But instead of losing their mind. The fruit itself took over the mind of Imu. Since it’s been revealed the fruits have a will of their own. Like a weird separate path that hasn’t happened to any other zoan fruit user other than Imu themself. Rather than becoming a mindless beast in an awakened form or getting a massive boost in power/new form. The fruit itself took over Imus mind centuries ago. Not sure where the gorosei fit into this have yet to think about that. But thought it was a cool idea even if entirely wrong

The nikka fruit can grant Bonney powercreep… therefore imu fruit is the dark version of nikka fruit and they have a lot more mastery over it hence giving such power to 5, luffy will likely learn to give power to his entire crew etc

Assuming that Luffy is based off of Hanuman it's possible that Imu is Ravana the king of Demon's. Though dark in nature he is still a scholar, an architect, and though a villain whose got a bent sense of right and wrong, also sworn enemy to Hanuman.
My theory: just like how Luffy and joyboy have nika fruit so we know nika is a god and similarly there might be demon/devil who was enemy of nika and just like nika fruit came into existence that demons devil fruit must have spawned and imu must have ate it and awakened it to become the devil.

I could imagine also that Loki’s ultimate power is gonna be using his devil fruit combined with his haki to do compressed hockey overtime. Similar to the sixth inner gate technique that they use in Naruto for Sakura and the fifth name. And that was the technique that joy boy did to then also conceal that inside of the giant, and it was just ultra compressed haki that was released.

I think the secret lies with black beard. We know he has some sort of special DNA to where he can have multiple devil fruits. And maybe imu is the same. Could explain why imu has so many abilities and why haki is Stated to be the ultimate power over all. Someone with immeasurable haki has to beat someone with 10 devil fruits.
This would also make sense. Cause like Blackbeard collects the fruits and eats them (we don't know how much he can eat though). Then after eating a certain amount he can give some away to other people. But the affects those people take go to him. (I also sometimes like to think that there are 2 other races being devils and angels. And 2 of those devils manage to escape and enter Blackbeard and imu or something like that giving them special powers.) Or they both from same race that went extinct from a different place where nobody sleeps that got whipped of the map. Cause imu would be jealous of someone else had the same abilities as him.

I think the most obvious point of this story is the fact luffy/joyboy did not have a devil fruit...but rather a god fruit

Shikigami no mei if I spelled that right could be his devil fruit, refers to Japanese folklore of summoning spirits to follow out tasks and orders which includes warding off death which could be why they are always close to Imu and how he’s still alive. Being as they are spirit beings that would also explain how they instantly regenerate and can teleport as they don’t follow the natural order of things.

I like the idea of emu being a devil fruit user, if he gave the 5 some of his power or maybe that are somehow split off parts of him that would explain why the haki hurt him so much. I don't think a devil would have been so bothered by it but joyboy haki interacting with wat technically is emu devil fruit would hurt the source. Also if you think the world government works for him and have been hunting down luffys devil fruit for centuries maybe he has a ridiculous devil fruit and believe the nika fruit to be the it's closest competitor, and since it was so long ago no one would no what his devil fruit is. Kinda like blackbeard holding out all them years searching for his devil fruit. Also flooding the world could just be an easy way of him getting rid of all the other devil fruits in the world so no one in his eyes have the ability to over throw him

I think in the endgame, it’s not going to be all the straw hats going to take care of Imu and the Gorosei. I’m seeing Luffy having maybe Zoro and Sanji along with other major figures, each that could handle a Gorosei one on one.
If Imu does have Devil fruit ability that allows him or her to grant powers I think I know what it could be it could be based on Typhon or Echidna but I personally think it might be Echidna since she was know as the mother of monsters and I know she is Greek and the Goresei monster forms are japanese in origin but it could still work due to her title as Mother of Monsters unless their is a japanese equivalent
What if the gorosei are actually dead and IMU raised people that she trusted during the void century. And what if when she/he raised them from the dead with their former devil fruit abilities but without the side effects of the devil fruit. Update on my previous theory about Imu sama being the user of the Nightmare devil fruit. I was reading up on some Scottish folklore when I stumbled on something that fits Imu perfectly. The flaw my previous theory about Imu was that it didn't account for his longevity. But then after this new discovery, it makes total sense. IMU SAMA IS A FAIRY! Specifically, the dark fairy king or ruler of the Unseelie Court. Now hear me out, Fairies have always been associated with both light and darkness, the light or good being the Seelie Court and the dark being the Unseelie Court in Scottish mythos. Now looking at fairies you'd always think of the fluttering creatures born of flowers but delving into the true nature of the "Fae folk", you'll find that more than half of said creatures bear striking resemblance to monsters or devils, for examples; Trolls, Orcs and even Elves with their dark counterparts. One common thing with the Fae folk is their connection with nature, as Imu is often seen in his garden at mariejois and the dark fae or Unseelie Court are more associated with ice and winter - as seen where Imu stored Joyboys straw hat. It's often been seen where fairies switch from light to dark, with the dark ones showing an affinity for the colour read which cloaks them from being seen. Now where have we seen this before? Imu sama remains unseen to the rest of the one piece world and once revealed, would be clad in red, not to mention Imu's eye colour. Another striking feature of Fae folk is their longevity, which would account for Imu still being alive from Joyboys era. Fae nobility have the ability to command other Fae folk as well as the elements of nature with the Fairy King standing at the pinnacle of this. Yokai are the Japanese version of Fae folk, so would it not stand that the Fairy king would command yokai as seen with the Gorosei and their yokai abilities? Also, Fae folk can bestow abilities or create beings out of the elements e.g. darkness, which is where the Gorosei come from 🤯. And we're yet to see any real references to Fae folk (not to confuse this with the Tontatta who aren't fairies but were mistaken as such) and Oda has introduced many races in One Piece with the exception of Fairies. So, with the unexplained longevity, connection to nature, affinity to red, connecting to the Gorosei and displayed abilities of said bunch, I think it's safe to say Imu is a Fairy (more like the dark fairy king) or the user of the fairy devil fruit.

And I believe Saturn is going to perish, as imu won't be very happy with the recent joyboy haki. So I believe imu is a devil , or has some sort of contract with the devil that inhabits the devil fruit tree. Thus granting similar powers.

I've had this theory festory in my brain for months now since the egghead arc brought the elders into the fight. I'm of the opinion that them and Imu are the creators of their abilities. That's why they don't have a fruit model because they haven't been killed and the "fruit classification" hasn't formed.
Joyboy fought the devil for the one piece originally which brought the devil fruits. What if the one piece is the devil fruit tree. Imu can’t find the tree either but he needs the one piece to fully unlock his powers
