Tremendous vid. Sam tends to second guess himself a lot and doesn't know himself as well as Sagan or Ewan. Has taken him a long time to really improve his positioning and timing. A good leadout to Sammy speed really helps him and his characteristics - the higher the speed the better. Morkov deserves a huge amount of credit, as well as Shane Archbold in other races. Sam learned a lot from racing with Sagan for a couple of years. With the extra confidence Sam has now we should see even more wins.
The moment when Bennett is watching his victory afterwards on the BIG SCREEN. Gold. It's all BIG SCREEN now, Sam. Carrick-on-Suir is smiling. You've arrived in the big time and no one can doubt that. Go Eire!! ☘💚
Mørkov deserves a fair share of the credit for that green jersey. Great leadout from a good distance from the finish. Also smart of Sam Bennett to lose the wheel when Stuyven and Pedersen cut in. Also there was work done by the other Danish rider on Quickstep, Kasper Asgreen, you see him dropping off at 1:21 (red jersey on the right) who was leading out both Mørkov and Bennett from earlier on which can be seen if you watch some of the other vids of the stage finale.
Morkov should always have a camera on his bike, the way he leads his sprinter to the finish line is extraordinary. He and Bennet have a really good thing going, Bennet has full trust in Morkov and also is able to hold his wheel the entire time
I will never tire of watching onboard video of pro sprints (heck, even amateur ones are entertaining). Great racing and congrats to Sam for doing the green jersey proud.
Great vision, great riding. So much body contact and near misses yet everyone stayed upright. Quickstep showing how important the team win is to everyone. Now thats team work and a team you know that has your back.
Wow!! That was sick!!!!! This is exactly what needs to happen across the peloton to take it to the next level.... I mean they have weight restrictions on bikes already just lower them for 200g and stick a couple of go-pros on there instead.
1:10 perhaps the most important part, where he overtakes on the outside and then cuts back to the inside, pretty much ‘herding’ the bunch, to gain a good position and leave the riders behind struggling
Sagan was in the right spot, he just didnt have the kick to accelerate around Bennett. Still it was an interesting competition for the green jersey this tour for the first time in recent memory
I’m pretty sure i heard “Sam.. Relax”? Hes been acting very ‘unlike-Sagan’ lately i feel. Ever since his divorce he hasnt been himself it seems to be.. god bless the man, but i’m not sure i like his attitude lately
@@EgelundB you know, my first intuitive feeling was he did say "Relax" but i did not want to believe it ...@Danni Productions. Did you see him wearing the purple cape when he went to meet the Pope years ago?!? I mean Sagan backwards is Nagas. Serpent seed in your face.
Why would he like Sagan? Because of him, he had basically to change teams to get a lead role. Also Bora not advancing and giving others chances leads to exactly that. Bora has apparently limited leadership capabilities in their group.
@@14Xaveco They definitely are giving new rides that chance. Mark my words, 2 or 3 years from now they will be doing great with the likes of Kämna, Buchmann and Schachmann. Those are up and coming riders that will be doing very well on a variety of terrains. And they also have Achermann as their main sprinter these days, we will see him in the giro if I'm correct.
I think Peter said "congrats" and not "relax". Peter tried to give him a bro fist right after the final sprint but Sam missed it somehow or didnt want to take it.
Ewan can only do that into a headwind, because his smaller size makes him more aerodynamic than the bigger sprinters. Under normal conditions he can't match Bennett's raw burst power
Other thing is Sam changed his tactics on the spur of the moment - didn't start his sprint off lead out man Michael Morkov - instead followed Jasper Stuyven and kicked off the sprint much later, allowing him to maintain peak power all the way to the line
@@tadeuszkazmierczak1143 I did not say it doesn't happen often. I just said it happened, because you get a very good camera shot at this particular incidence. And that only goes to show the danger that follows with the job.
Bennett had to leave Bora Hansgrohe, in order for the rest of the world to find out that he has become a faster sprinter than Sagan - He won far more sprint finishes than Sagan throughout the whole 2018,2019 seasons ( in the races he was allowed to compete in ). If Bennett had been allowed to ride the Tour de France in 2019, Sagan might only have won 6 green jerseys, not 7. Even if Sagan had not been penalized for barging in the stage11 sprint, Bennett still would have finished with more points. the Champs Elysee sprint confirmed who's the best ! Sour grapes
@@christopherfranklin972 Yes, the sagan is as weak as water, so points of closeness collide because they cannot overcome it with their performance. It's embarrassing bennet is as weak as tea

He'll get a nice big bonus check from Quick-Step I'm sure
He sure does
i think he deserve that jersey as a whole, not just half

Great assessment. Thank you. Delighted to see my fellow Irishman win the stage. His sheer delight is lovely. “Stuff that dreams are made of”.
If they ever figure out how to broadcast these camera angles real-time, cycling will experience a resurgence.
On french tv, they are sometimes broadcasting live!
@fensterfred Oh, I disagree. 3K to the 250m mark would be awesome to see all of the "argy-bargy" between riders. It would be brilliant
It’s amazing how they don’t crash every sprint like this.

Can’t imagine how surreal it would be watching your win, in slow motion, on the big screen at the Tour de France finish line. Congratulations

Damn Sagan really told Sam to relax 🤦♂️ he has every right to celebrate best sprint throughout the whole race 😌 Sagan mad or ?
0:41 smooth avoiding yellow jersey.. shows the respect towards it!!
1:06 he can't win, less smooth passing, close door :D

There is danish dynamite behind that win.💪💪🚴

Sagan: Congrats!
Sam: 😐 (Whatever)

Legion of LA should take note that you don't need to push & shove to win
lol
Why they throwing bottles?
Sagan saying relax hahaha
I wonder why Ewan did not follow Bennett like in the 2 stages that he won.
Too tired perhaps?
Ewan can only do that into a headwind, because his smaller size makes him more aerodynamic than the bigger sprinters. Under normal conditions he can't match Bennett's raw burst power
no headwind +1 I think also perhaps the run-in was too fast and he didnt take the wheel
Ewan still needs to work on his endurance, he was too tired to deliver anything at the end.
