I played this model at Gruhns last January. Out of the many Martin's, Gibson, and Collings I played that day, the OMJM was the best. I preferred it to the Clapton as well. Its one of the very best acoustics I've ever played.
Came to the same conclusion after playing lots of other Martin’s, Gibsons etc as well. Clapton I think sounded a bit richer, but the neck was way too chunky for me. There’s a vibrancy and aliveness to the OMJM.
@@rickcar94 lol never selling it. Only thing on my mind right is to try some Elixirs string on it having gone from Martin strings lifespan to Earnie Balls Everlast
@@davidnadal8902 Martin strings have a really good tone, but Elixir are by far the longest lasting strings out there IMO, and they still sound pretty good
I’ve a 2012 OMJM and there’s Martin branded tuners on that.. they’ve been on for a while.. I could be wrong but I think the 00028EC’s have the same too nowadays
Recently added this to my collection and man....it was a great addition. The trifecta is real- My old Taylor, the Gibson Sj45 with now a Martin OMJM...no mountain is to high!
My advice to anyone interested in a small body Martin.....stick with the 25.4 scale length like this one......I have a 000-18 retro with a 24 scale and the combination of the short scale with the small body ( especially Martin's are thin) just kills the sound........stuck with long scale unless the guitar is a dreadnaught like a j45
Was set on buying the OMJM. As an interim step, bought the Taylor 224CE-K DLX (Koa)…. Oops 😬. The Taylor’s awesome. I may eventually get an OMJM but when I demo the Taylor next to the OMJM, I don’t find a huge difference other than price. They are obviously not exactly comparable but I find I prefer certain qualities of each but can’t say the OMJM is worth $2500 more.
Been a Music Villa customer since 2006! I was fortunate enough to find and purchase a 00-42 SC and was wondering which pickup you would recommend installing in it (if at all)? Trying to replicate whichever pickup he uses in his 45 SC
@@tricko2286 Yea, actually there is a Furch Vintage Series, its called Furch Vintage 3 OM-SR, from the style and looks its close but I'm not sure if you can compare them soundwise, but I think you can configure a custom shop one for the price of an omjm, which wild hold up really well, else Furch Red series om bodyshape (the Furch Vintage 3 OM-SR is half the price thats why I would not compare them
Not sure any Isbell fans would agree with the last guitar hero suggestion… beautiful guitar though. Will probably get one, and realise I’m nowhere near good enough to be worthy of it!
Just got delivery of my PRS Angelus A60E and it is exceptional. For the price? OMG. REAL WOOD, not HPL or veneered plywood, REAL ABALONE, Ebony, cutaway, FLAMED CURLY MAPLE BINDING. Mahogany neck, Ziricote back and sides. Fishman, Just gorgeous and would be $3500 if it were a Martin or Taylor (which at that price might actually use real wood finally) and probably not have half the beauty and material extras. AND SOUNDS AWESOME
Before I say this prs makes great looking and playing guitars never played a bad oneand I also own one, but I hate to break it to you bro, only the top on your guitar isnsolid wood back and sides on your guitar are laminated wood (a form of plywood basically) . and while youre right about no taylors sub 2k having solid wood you can get a new solid american Martin for 1300 (15 series) or a solid spruce top solid sapele b/s road series for $1000>
Dwelling on the seemingly trite, given the outstanding workmanship and sound of this beaut, machine heads almost appear to be pewter on Music Villa images.
Just got this guitar, it’s got amazing tone and they downplayed the neck and playability in this video - second to none on a Martin imho. Plays more like an electric. Still deciding whether to keep or return, just cause it is spendy but it should be a lifetime guitar if I keep it.
Guys, you’re both very nice. You both seem very sincere, however you need to watch your video because you simply did not convince me to buy this beautiful guitar. Sorry, but you’re in need of researching the guitar prior to taping, and stay on point talking about the guitar. Don’t mean to hurt your feelings but seriously, watch your video.
The "pop" sound phase for JM was just bad production. The songs were actually way better acoustic. If you stripped away the sugary production they wouldn't really be pop songs...but would remain a bit avant garde I would say
It's hard to choose just one, but I'm going to say that my favorite John Mayer album is Born and Raised!

Same bro I was able to get one off of Facebook marketplace for a grand cheaper and was pretty much in perfect condition
You had me at "Why Georgia". 🤩
Favorite John Mayer album is Heavier things and John Mayer Trio Great albums and great guitarist.
My guitar lol bought it about 6 months ago loving it since then.
If you ever decide to sell it, hit me up! But I'm sure that's never gonna happen 🤣

@@rickcar94 yeah the idea is to find the best strings set that complements the OmJm and a lot of people have gone towards the brightness of the Elixir
@@davidnadal8902 the bronze 80/20 are quite bright sounding, if you want a more balanced/warmer tone, go for a set of phosphor bronze 👍
Continuum for sure! Belief is in that album and that is my all time favourite song from him.
I just love Quinton's technique. He is amazing. You really ought to have segment called Quinton's Picks,
Can’t stop listening to TRY! The John Mayer Trio album. But Continuum is another personal fave.
Awesome guitar. Love the OMJM!
Got one too. Great guitar, great looks, great sounding om
I wish Martin would reissue the OM-28JM, his preferred stage model. Such cool unique inlay work on that one.
There is a battery in there for the Martin Gold Plus
Like your channel and your small talk. Coming home after night shift und watching your channel with a coffee in my hand --- great 😁👏👏
What a stunning guitar. And I think 3800 dollar is quite reasonable. Had expected a much higher price.
mine comes in around march, super excited!
Very nice! Would like to know what number martin is at now. I have #348

John Mayer, along with Joe Bonamassa, Josh Smith, & Kirk Fletcher are keeping alive the Blues legacy of our country.
Love mine, but change the Binding after Problems to wood.
I love mine too but I don’t understand your sentence.👆
Would you please rephrase/expand on your point?
Nice playing!!!

My favorite John Mayer album is Room For Squares
It would be amazing if you could do a comparison between the OMJM and de OM28 JM 🔥🔥
My dream guitar!
My dream guitar together with a D-45, that's all I have to say 😍
Next review guys, please play something really sloppy so I can see how I would sound.
😂😂😂
Only then will it be the most realistic representation of the instrument.
Bottom line, every album of John Mayer was a masterpiece record, context and contrast everything spectacular, agree?:)
Hey, is the pickup really passive? I’m about to pick one up which has a passive pickup, just didn’t seem right to me? Thx
Great tone.

The neck is perfect on this guitar
This is great! I do love the this remake but the OM28JM is stupid good! they got crazy from scarcity price ;) this is a great guitar as well!
Would have bought one but I was a grant shy of that beauty so bought an amazing Furch
Wondering if there is a Furch that matches up well against the OMJM?

Try to get Ron Block / Union Station .
