I only started GW2 like 3 weeks ago and immediately went Mesmer because I had been watching videos prior to even downloading the game and loved the look of all its abilities. Then of course, as soon as I say I like melee and I like the clone mechanic people start screaming Mirage is bad its too complicated play Virtuoso blah blah blah. After 2 decades of WoW and having (in PvP) something like 120 keybinds to manage, as well as the buffs, debuffs, execute thresholds, cooldowns, etc of 9 other people at the same time... I think I can figure it out. Assuming I don't grow to hate this class as I go, I don't see myself playing anything else. Every single ability is so flashy and cool lol
When I first started gw2 I also loved mesmer but people told me it was too hard and to play another class, after about 2 years of playing the game I eventually just played mesmer and LOVED IT. Awesome video, def agree regarding greatsword lacking defensive value in this specific build, been trying some sinister rune builds with confusion, similar to yours, just a couple traits geared towards condi buff!
I tried condi, I think its currently gatekept by how weak the condi weapons are on mirage. They removed all the cooldown reduction traits and left the core weapon CDs way too high for viability IMO. If the weapons got slight buffs I think condi would be SUPER strong.
@@shorts_gaming I definitely agree with that. Sinister rune (I feel), gives that good balance of power to condo ratio. while you’re focused on my power burst, I’m building confusion/torment stacks. An amazing build I found on Mesmer is power chrono with all alacrity traits. Literally spamming every ability as much I want lol.
Imo you should run daze mantra & Illusionary ambush in order to retarget your clone and provide insta CC on heals etc. where you don't want to wait for projectile land or that's the way I use it (and I run Phantasmal fury in dueling traitline because with stealth traitline there is an issue: your health pool is low & projectile travel is long + dagger 2 & 3 are delayed dmg outcomes which can reveal you easily :) Let me know what you think about my "arguments" and if you agree or disagree :)
I play the pistol trait not the stealth trait (I agree stealth trait is bad). Mantra is a fine utility option, very viable in most matchups and really strong. I just do not enjoy playing it as much anymore (:
Its fine for lower elos but at higher levels of gameplay you will be missing out. Ultimately play what you like, but know there is something better if you invest time and improve as a player.
Hey just learning to play mesmer just asking something stupid if you a mirage how do you use the Dagger and shield? Do you have to have waeasponmastery to be able to use dagger and shield?
My last 2 stream vods (which are the most recent videos on my channel) are usually me explaining what I am doing and why. I also have multiple videos on my channel named (educational) where I also do that. When I used to stream a lot thats basically what I did every night would just teach people.
Yeh mirage has always been my go to on my mesmer and I run a similar build but with few variations; mimic and illusionary ambush instead of signet utilities, improved ambush for more vuln on dagger dodge, sigil of peril for more vuln duration and torch instead of shield to make up for the lost condi cleanse. Also am I right in thinking the illusion damage trait counts for clones when ambushing as well as phantasm damage?
If you are asking for mesmer specifically play torch on power illusions mirage, if other things rifle holo is my favorite but you can just play sword shield
What do you think about inspiration with signet trait instead of dueling (rest of the build stay the same)? Have you tried something like this in some higher tier PvP?
I have played that before. You lose out on your ability to kill people for sustain (that was absolutely gutted last patch) because you cannot take healing trait and invuln trait anymore because they are both grandmaster. You could play it but I do not think its strong in higher tier pvp
You can play it for most of the game but if you want to optimize for a specific pve like fractals/raids higher end content I would swap to something else. My favorite build for pve on mesmer open world was greatsword with stamina sigil. (really fun)

I have never tested it. It could be decent but I highly doubt it is better than the boon removal

I must be blind. What armor stats you using? runes? sigil's on weapons? what relic? (Sorry if I've totally missed this in an obvious place!)
11:27 PvP uses stats on a differrent tab than pve and wvw so instead of armor stats you use an amulet, i explain my build here
