Singapore keeps updating its immigration systems and the latest heard is the Automated Border Control System which do not require passport presentation to simplify and ease congestion.
The question now - When will Malaysia upgrade its antiquated immigration equipment which most times broke down and not in use?
In future, we will see travellers jamming up at the JB and Tuas immigration complexes while the Singapore side are not. Andvit's a shame Malaysia cannot keep up with small but rich Singapore in modernising its immigration system.

Yes. By now it works for 51 nationality passports, include Indonesia.
Make sure your passport is a biometrix one (e-passport) with chip.

If money could buy passion and commitment and proficiency, wouldn’t every country on earth follow the Singapore model?
The hard truth is that money alone cannot be a substitute for that genuine call to service and to do greater good for the country, which comes naturally only to some.

If a power outage occurs, not only self-clearance immigration will be hampered, but conventional/manual ones will also experience the same thing.

You forget that manual immigration also has to check your data on the computer. Do you think the computer is powered by pedals?

If you overkill it is not smart, the ISS is not interested in US no more than why it should be interested in Singapore? It cost a lot of money on tremendous manpower and AI equipment. Question and reality is that is it a necessity for the commuters including overseas ones who only will borne the bran. The weakness is more on custodian and intelligence than on the border point in many analysis of instances

Do you get the sense that they are in an ivory tower, with no inkling of the real needs and struggles of the people?
When Minister Chan Chun Sing starts giving his usual motherhood spin this week in Parliament about cost of living being a “multi-dimensional issue,” and amounting to a gap between people’s aspirations and their ability to fulfil them, you know that either he just doesn’t get it or he tries to turn something simple into something incomprehensible.

In the second breach which was announced just this week (28 Jan), the Ministry of Health said that medical records of 14,2000 HIV positive individuals in the country had been illegally obtained in 2016 and were disclosed online recently.
These breaches highlight the potential snares for Singapore’s push to make data more accessible and centralised. To the benefits justify the risks to privacy and can anyone prevent senior officials from misusing their access to confidential information?

The country’s ‘smart nation’ portal says ‘Data is the new currency, and with open data, the possibilities are endless!’
Unfortunately, two major data breaches have tarnished Singapore’s tech-savvy image.
In 2018, Singapore’s health system suffered a cyberattack that compromised the data of 1.5 million people. Authorities say that the person behind that attack was targeting the medical records of PM Lee Hsien Loong who is a cancer survivor. The perpetrator has been identified and it’s been ascertained that the stolen personal data has not made its way onto the dark web.
