I agree 100% but I have used a kissing noise like when I'm calling to my cat. Makes them curious/confused instead of spooked. Works great on predators too!
Yeah, kissing kinda sounds like a squirrel bitching. Speaking of squirrels, they DO bitch at deer! Ive seen it many times. Im 50-60 yrds away, i KNOW they arent bitching at me, then a deer walks out. Now, Ive seen a fox+ a feral cat walk by too, and moments later I heard sq's bitching. Now, theirs are like a kiss, and then about 5 clicks afterward? I CANNOT describe the sound with words, sorry.
Very good advice - thank you. If I could add one thing to this video it would be, especially for the novice, to practice your whistle when taking archery practice.
I agree with you also. The first time I heard a hunter maaaaahh at a deer I thought it was insane ! I saw it back in the early 1990’s on a vhs tape produced by a camo clothes maker from GA & I won’t mention any names lol.
Greetings from Saskatchewan and thank you for such an excellent tip! I have tried the Mah before and I agree, it tends to make deer really skeptical. More than if you just whipped out a buck grunt tube. I will definetly try this after the blizzard blows through and I get to hunt again.
@@lovehuntfishlife Thank you! I've hunted for 6 days already and have seen nothing and given this is my first attempt at archery hunting, I'm super worried if the lack of deer was because I'm doing something wrong, not enough scent spray or because I can't get to my ground blind well enough.Turns out it's just because it's the lockdown lull of the Rut. After the big storm rolls though and we reload the feed station (yes, that is legal in Saskatchewan) many experienced hunters I spoke with all agree, things are gonna heat up after this nasty storm and temp drop. :)
Yep, I have used it dozens of times and haven't spooked one yet. used it 2 days ago and it didn't fail me then either. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching. GOOD LUCK TOO YOU!
That's a good idea especially for someone that can't whistle. I like to be at full draw when I do it so when they stop I can let it fly. I guess it could be mounted close to your bow grip and you could give it a squeeze, unless you squeeze it by chewing on it. LOL Thanks for your comment and for watching. Good luck to you.
You will be surprised at how well it will work. The biggest thing is keeping your mouth from getting dry in the heat of the moment. Try to remember not to breath through your mouth. Good luck to you.
Ordered bunch of yummy Mamoos Camp Kitchen meals. Thanks!

Yep, you just need them to pause for a look. Thanks for watching.

I’ve had deer make me but not sure. Sometimes I’ll make tweety bird sounds and they will relax. I agree with your whistle stop
By the time a deer comes by me, my mouth is so dry I CANT WHISTLE
You have to keep your whistle wet.

Hello Saskatchewan, thanks for your comment. Let me know what you think about it when you get to use it. Good luck to you.

Thanks and good luck to you too
Whistle has always worked for me..
I give this video like and hope you will run ads to promote your nice channel
Iv always used the whistle. Once even twice, in the rut it often dosent work. Then i resort to a low and simply "hey". Stops em cold everytime.
Yep, you have to step it up when they get in the stupid trot.
I use a dog squeaker from squeaky toy

@@lovehuntfishlife it definitely works
I always thought "mauh" was a non-threatening sheep noise. I'm not that great of a whistler... I'll give the whistle a try though. Thanks for the tip.

The times that I have whistled, they run off.
Its what DIY HUNTER uses
Enjoyed the video. New subscriber.
