    EVERY SINGLE NAIL SALON I've been to has done #1 to me and it hurt every single time. I've learned that these nail salons don't care about the client, they are trying to hurry up and get the next person in the chair because time is money but honestly, if they would take the time to show each client the proper attention need, there wouldn't be so many of us learning to do our own nails. I can honestly say I started doing my own nails when the Covid pandemic shut everything down but I'm so glad I did and I learned everything I know from TH-cam University lol

    I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had my nails damages (really bad) by having them taken off just like #1. It’s really hard to find a really good nail tech where I live. There’s nail salons on every corner but they’re not the ones who actually care about their clients, sadly. I haven’t worn nails for a year now because I’m just tired of the lack of care for my nails. You go to a “professional” hoping they’ll take good care of your nails but …

      Same! I had a guy stab my nail bed so bad my thumb turned black and blue I was so scared I was going to lose my nail. Took about 3 months for my thumb nail to heal and be strong again. I never got my nails done again do to the trauma. I do my nails at home. Lately I'm obsessed with dip powder.

  • @toniclifford4630

    #1 Is exactly why I started learning how to do my own nails... that and over filing my natural nails. My nails are already super thin due to health reasons, so all the salons I was going to in my area would literally just rip off any lifting. Sometimes it would rip my nail completely off in that spot. One instance that happened, I told the guy to quit and that I wasn't going to finish the service because my finger was literally bleeding and he snatched my hand and told me "that didn't hurt.. you're such a baby". That was the final time I walked into a salon. I ended up with a serious infection and don't trust anyone to do my nails anymore. Fast forward just over a year later, and my nails have never looked better. I don't blame the products, I blame the person who taught the techs that it was ok to remove products in that way. And told them that it's ok to actually hurt people and then make fun of them for telling them it hurt.

      This IS the worst! Let me assure you sweetheart, NOBODY in America in ANY Nail or Cosmetology school teaches you to do it that way. Asian salons do that because they ONLY care about getting you in and out fast. Very SAD.
      I actually went to work for an Asian owned salon ONCE and they said that "it takes too long to soak off. Remove them with another nail tip. Much faster and cheaper!"
      I also replied... "I ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT!" AND proceeded to pack up my things and never went back! They do OH SO MANY THINGS that are against what they teach you in the schools! And I cannot believe that they are ALL still in business. 🤬😞

    I’m a huge lover of pinching the form! I pinch it as much as I can and get the most beautiful c-curves ever!
    #1 really upsets me, there’s so much information out there on proper removal it honestly angers me that anyone still does this… and there’s sooooo many who do it, I’ve heard it more times than I can count. And the part about soap, water & oil, idk who started this but I’d like to slap them. I’ve seen so, so many people tell other people to do it, especially when someone is asking for alternatives to acetone bcuz they feel acetone is damaging their nails. All I can say is I promise you this method will do way more damage to your nails then acetone ever will. I’ve tried to explain to people the reason "it works" is bcuz you’re softening the nail, not the product. That’s why you’re able to pop the nail off whole, but in this process you’re ripping a layer of your natural nail off. But of course nobody wants to listen. Idk maybe it’s just me but I thought half the point of nail enhancements was to protect the integrity of the natural nail.

Fortunately, I learned how to do my own nails & have done them for years, & just had a great opportunity to go to school, where I just graduated from a Nail Technology program & I'm about to get my license!!! I learned so much & my instructor was great! I can't wait to treat my clients with the care & concern that those fast "time is money", in & out salons never showed me. • @sheilapack

    SO very helpful, Suzie! Not only kindly pointing out the mistakes sometimes made, but the reasons WHY they are mistakes. For those of us who are not professionals, the education you provide is invaluable. I have no aspiration to do other people's nails, I just want to do my own (correctly) at home, ESPECIALLY in a healthy manner. Several reasons: the worst is that I've been hurt numerous times in nail salons (I've tried several). I've been nicked (to the point of bleeding) as well as burned (heat generated by the tech's e-file). The nails have sometimes not held up well (cracking along the side edge before breaking off, so back to the salon for a repair) and they had flat spots instead of being smooth and pretty when the nail tech finished. Learning to do them myself means I don't have to make an appointment a week (or more) in advance, and I don't have to keep trying different salons to find a tech that does a good job without hurting me. Perhaps my nails are more sensitive than usual. Being able to do my own, at home solves so many problems for me, and your videos are simply wonderful. Your soothing voice & great sense of humor make watching and learning a real pleasure (and I love your little jokes with CameraMan!). Thank you Suzie, for helping people learn to do nails the right way (even amateurs like me).

    I have definitely had my nails ripped more than once by nail professionals and it damaged my nails almost every time. It hurts too. Unfortunately and sadly some nail shops are still doing this till today. If I plan on removing my nails I do so at home with acetone and a file and than go to the nail salon if I want to get them done. However for the last 4-5 yrs I’ve been watching your videos as well as others on TH-cam and have been doing my own nails at home. I love how it relaxes me and gives me so much pleasure to see what I can accomplish on my own.

    #1 is why I don't go to salons and learned to do this myself. Same with using an e-file on my nail bed with little to no care about how far they're going. I do my nails at home now and I don't even buff them before I apply. I know that's a no-no and will affect the life of my application but so far I haven't noticed a difference. I make sure my nail bed is properly dried out and primed before I go in and that seems to help. I also use polygel, I'm not sure if that also has anything to do with the adhesion. As long as I file the edges down nicely so there's no lip near the cuticle or outer walls, there doesn't seem to be as much of an issue with lifting.
    I use your videos to help me get next to salon quality at home (I've maybe done 4 sets sporadically, but I'm really getting into it now that I got an e-file :) ) , and I'm so glad you share more than tutorials!

    Omg I remember how painful number 1 was, I had tips on and she ripped it off instead of soaking or filing it. I didn't tell her it hurt because I just don't feel like I can. I get really hesitant to tell them because I'm always thinking that they will tell me something so obvious and make me feel like it's my fault that it's hurting. Last time I had tips taken off right after getting them done, and I told them that the drill was hurting and they said, "Well honey its because you just had them done." Like I already knew that, but it doesn't take away the fact that it was burning like fire. Lol, I went off topic but regardless, most of the time I don't usually feel like I can tell them most of the time.

    I actually use pinching tongs to pre-curve some full-cover gel tips. Some of my nails are curvier then the tip is so clipping the tongs on it gently before i apply it gives me a much better fit!

    I have to agree with you on the removal using a nail tip, the place I used to go used to do that to me all the time, mind you mine were ready to pop off but still it wasn't good. When it came to reusing the monomer my mom couldn't figure out why hers wasn't really working and I told her that she can't pour the used stuff back in. she learned from that mistake.

    #1 happening from professionals is unacceptable and there is no way they don’t know that’s wrong. If a “professional” is trying to do that to you, you need to leave. Another big thing that happens that is unsafe, unsanitary, wrong, and against state board is if you BLEED during your service, they NEED to stop and do a blood spill procedure immediately. If they don’t, you need to leave. That’s a chop shop and your safety and others is NOT worth it.

      @@IDontKnow-pf6en obviously, but my comment still applies to everyone. I can’t imagine any state or province being ok with blood spills being ignored. It’s dangerous no matter where you live.

    Do you need to use a separate dappen dish for your acrylic powder or can you just use container it comes in? Also Can you pour unused acrylic powder back in after use or is it contaminated like the monomer? Thank you 💖

    For acrylic, I understand the advice to do 1 nail at a time. Do you also advise this for gel? Seems like it would add up to a ton of curing time.

    • @asiaspyro
      @asiaspyro 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a pro or anything but i have heard the advice to flash cure gel. Or you may be able to a cure finger on one hand and then form a finger on the other at the same time.

    • @NailCareerEducation
      @NailCareerEducation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a great question. I still think you should do it one at a time however it really does matter how you work with gel. Some gel techs will put a base layer on each and every nail and cure all at once. So if you’re going to do that the only risk of bumping it is before the base nail goes on. Once the base nail goes on it becomes a little more solid and the client might be a little more careful. Gel is one of those products that it kind of gets all cured together after you do flash cures for each one

    Hi Suzie! I didn't understand the acetone tip, can you explain what that means. And also, how to you throw away your monomer? Down the toilet? To your sink? Honestly I don't know. Big fan from latinamerica, I have learned so much from you ❤️

    • @NailCareerEducation
      @NailCareerEducation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, so acetone is amazing to remove mail polish remover or dissolve Acrylic off your brush or off nails. Used correctly it’s very safe. You can buy remover WITHOUT acetone in it and it takes forever to remove the polish.
      And to dispose of monomer that’s left in yr dish, wipe with paper towel or cotton pad and throw in trash bin

    It is hard to find a good nail salon and I live in a big city, however not one was nearly ok. They filed too much (= thinned natural nail), low quality product and / or not cleaning their tools and not respecting clients wish.
    I only want acrylic, bc my nails are super sensitive and I don’t want to burn my fingers anymore by using Gel. Everytime they discuss like 10 minutes that I should change the product and design.
    Therefore I make the nails by myself thanks to your videos. Still learning it, but better than paying a lot of money for bad results at a „professional“ salon.
