  • The Spurs play excellent pick and roll defense led by Greg Poppovich. They drop their bigs, Aldridge and Gasol, back while their guards fight hard over the screens. They execute well and it also helps to have swarming defenders such as Kawhi and Danny Green. In this video I go over responsibilities and the late switch. NBA offense.

    The best way to defend the pick & roll and pick & pop is to switch every time while having no player under 6'5.

    3:00 Wow, I always criticized Aldridge when seeing him this far away from the attacker. Now I know why lol Too bad that doesn't work with guy like Harden/Curry, they can always step back and shot over the guard : / Also, great video.

      None the Spurs drill the players to execute text book defence like muscle memory
      While this would against like 80-90, percent of the team normal just doesn't work against Hardan curry or Kyrie
      Spurs don't have the most talented cast so Pop drill the team to be execute and be on the same page if u get shot over by sb like Durant then Pop won't go too hard on u just make adjustments to the scheme

    Toronto Raptors have 2 former Spurs in Danny Green & Kawhi Leonard.😀😀😀😀
    Hope this style of defense travels with them.

    do you know if this is something they have been doing in previous seasons?

    • @coachdaniel8163
      @coachdaniel8163  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they typically drop versus the pick and roll.

    coach daniel, can you take a look at the raptors? i heard prior to this season that they were making a conscious effort to have more ball movement, so it'd be cool if you could take a look at their sets and actions and see whether they legitimately are moving the ball now, or whether it's just a mirage.

      Not sure if I'll get to a video on that but yes they do share the ball more. Side to side movement for sure particularly with their bench lineups
