Fortune ladies suffer from the age old mess-up from konami, not giving them their good cards until like 2019. Fortune lady every, fortune lady past and fortune lady calling (could be a different name) make the deck pretty good. However at this point in history they are just for the anime. And only ever became relevent in Duel links.

Not to mention it was a fantastic way to get Water into the graveyard, which as you see was a problem here. No Wonder Wand, no Earth singleton, no fire for the removal... real bad deck list for Fortune Ladies.

Damn Cimo played horrible this episode. Of course it doesn't help that the Fortune ladies combo lines are so skill intensive (IE, luck based and bad) but still.

We put in a D-Draw engine along with a bunch of other crap and managed to make it go +12 turn one, but the problem was you didn't have a board at the end of that because the archetype was pure dog $#!t without Every and Past.
I think History is just at a point where it requires too much prep to have the wheel anymore. Combo lines are increasingly common and they need to know them ahead of time. We know they play sub-optimally right now but...

The lack of Fortune Lady Fire really hindered Cimo in the first game. Fire is alright in archetype removal for Fortune Ladies. One for One also makes getting to Light easier, as well as Rai-Mei, and Kinka-byo allows one to recur Light from the GY, especially when combined with the field spell. (and reuse the Lights for Fortune's Future). Usual win-cons from what I've seen is either big bungus damage with Earth or going into Aslla Piscu. The extra deck tech was an interesting take on the deck though.
I mean, Fire is a complete brick in most scenarios, and you can see in the games that because you draw so many cards you are guaranteed to draw the garnets (Alex even opened Water in all 4 openers, including the last one after game 3 was over and they were talking about the match), and the archetype had no way to special summon Fire or Water if not the Light + Future Vision combo, which does nothing if you draw them (that's still a problem with current FLs in 2022 btw). And, to be fair, drawing 2 is always better than the removal, considering you are left with a 400 atk monster that doesn't even have a good level line to go into the extra deck, so it's correct to not play it. Hell, I'd even argue about why play Wind. At first glance, she reads like a good card, if you don't have access to Light and need to clear backrow, but then you realize that she only works on normal summon and only destroys the exact same amount of backrow as FL monsters you have on field. So if you have 2, and your opponent has 1 backrow, she does nothing. I would have played 1 Earth just because she starts with ok stats that get out of hand if she's not dealt with immediately
@@NickWuebker I mean, yes, but it doesn't really matter. This early in FL's life, Earth beatdown is your only win con, and Dark is the backup plan in case your opponent outs it. If by any chance your opponent makes a 2001 atk monster turn 1, Cimo's list cannot win the game anymore
@@Pyrrha_Nikos Yeah, Fire is a Garnet, hence why I'd only run it at one. Usually when I build Fortune Ladies (aside from the newest stuff), my ratios are 3 Light, 1 Fire, 3 Water, 3 Dark, 1 Earth. Wind can easily be replaced by some generic S/T removal. 3 Waters is pushing it, but it can suffice as discard fodder (One For One For example), and can be resurrected by Dark for draw power.
MBT forgot his 1000 lifepoints from upstart on Cimoooooo's first turn of game 1. I have yet to get to the conclusion of that game, so I'm just going to assume it was imminently important. :p

They may be basing that play off of Edison Format, where, at that event in 2010, it was actually ruled to be an activated effect, and therefore that is how it is played in the modern version of the format.
As a Fortune Lady player myself I can confirm that Cimo played the deck correctly at all stages. He lost to his own field spell, like one must. He plays 2 copies of Water and opened it IN ALL 3 GAMES or drew them before being able to summon them. He drew 15 cards in a single turn and drew nothing playable. Genuinely nothing to critizice, this is peak Fortune Lady gameplay
Amen, for an archtype with 6 copies of pot of greed, 9 if you count spellbook of knowledge, they really show that draw power doesn't matter if your cards are trash

I used to love playing fortune ladies, while the downsides of no genuinely payoff and needing a turn or two to actually get going, I just really enjoyed the bouncing around with the field spell/traps, tagging in and out and stuff like the level manipulation. Felt they worked pretty alright with spellbooks though
No Fire NOR Earth? One is a card pop and the other is a beater you sorely need. Maybe it's because I played FL during 5ds era so I know this but a pop is way better than card draw that leads to nothing.
I remember when Fortune Ladies came out I ran a “pure build” that had no real extra deck aside from usual staples for Spellcasters , and the only extra monsters I ran were Catoblespas & the Witch of Fate, Marshmallon cuz I could, and some random Spellcaster Tuner cuz I needed to have 40 cards. My side board was what I usually used- stall and burn cards. I just played it during the tourney cuz my hubby n I bought the box and I wanted to try it out. I managed to place 2nd due to sheer dumb BEYOND Joey Wheeler levels of IDIOT LUCK. I beat out Dark Simorgh (bad hands for player), 2 Vayu Turbos (including hubby, basically burn damage from dualin’ Earth and Fire) and a Lightsworn who decked out twice cuz of Marshmallon. my ONLY loss was to my friend running Six Samurai.
I love fortunelady, I used to play a spellbook fortunelady deck prejudgment. It wasn’t anything compedetive but it would hold its own at locals, the deck had a lot of draw power and spellbook of life has some synergy’s with fortuneladys by increasing levels. Future visions as also pretty backbreaking today a lot of strategy’s in that format especially with a fate in reserve.
fortune lady really are the abhorred child of 2 parents that are at complete odds. one wants their child to be better than anyone else while the other tries their best to make it as incompetent as possible
As I don't know that much about Yugioh past formats, it would be nice to see some extra info (maybe in the end of the video) about which cards got released for the deck at the time. I didn't see the Fortune Lady Every, so I guess it was not released, but there were other Spellcaster cards for support, so it would be nice to see why some strategies were not used at the time. The wheel is a nice touch to get some RNG manipulation for the series

The fortune lady stuff seems good on paper until you realise that they don't actually like being banished it's just light that wants to be normal summoned with the field spell nor do they get anything off of being returned to the graveyard by fortunes future nor a reliable way to get to activate it outside of blowing a normal summon with the field spell up. The new support kinda helps shore up the sore points but not enough even though the synchro is pretty good
Fortune lady is one of those decks that were(hell,are) thiiiiis close of being an insane engine thanks to water light and their new support just need a little extra push or a deck that plays well with other spellcasters(which quite rare surprisingly) This was fun! Obviously cimo messed up a few plays but these girls can be unforgiving

I use a Fortune Lady Deck coupled with Fortune Fairies, and some spells that increase atk for each different attribute, it's hard to get going, but once it does, you're in a very fortunate position ;)
I think the problem with the Fortune Lady deck is that you had all this draw power and no pay off. No Traps to get off it, you're not stunning MBT into the ground.
Fortune Lady pure. What a deck. I am not familiar with the banlist but I imagine Burial is banned? Fortune Lady stun is kind of powerful bc it fixes your graveyard while hating on grave-based game plans but no idea if it’s legal at this time. Powerful of course meaning powerful for fortune ladies specifically

Cimo in the deck description assumed Fortune Lady Wind was a much better card than she is. She doesn't destroy up to. She destroys exactly the number of S/T that you have Fortune Ladies. If you have more Fortune Ladies than your opponent has back row, she whiffs. It's the stupidest thing.
@@dolphinsniper Granted never used it vs anything more Meta than Buster Blader Control or Magnet warrior Imperion turbo... But the build I had for Fortune Ladies has 3 of each OG and then that one support monster of theirs that manipulates levels for stuff. Then the Spell caster support stuff and 3 Solidarity so that one in GY meant decent atk on some. Fortune Lady Swarm Beatdown basically. But Light starts the full thing running and fire was my fav to summon because of its pop and damage aspect. Plus my draw luck with it was wonderful.

Then again my luck with pulling ED staples is the worst so maybe good spellcasters and Tuner Spellcasters were not a thing at the time. Did it bounce stuff to the hand as a cost or effect? I think its cost, so it would not trigger Light. Anything that does not help my Light I try to avoid putting into the deck (when it comes to removal; self or otherwise). I barely keep track of "if" vs "when" while reading cards so I could be wrong. An interesting tech spell I have considered is "Share the Pain" a norm spell that reads... Tribute 1 monster; make your opponent Tribute 1 monster (for no effect). I believe the tribute you make is an effect also.
Wouldnt fortune lady light trigger when you bounced it with the birdman? Also in the first game you should have done combat with the dark so you could bring back another dark.
Game one Cimo should’ve summon water instead of setting. Next turn he could’ve done everything he did but with a level 5 water to pair with instant fusion.
Patreon is for supporting creators. If you don't like how certain people don't pronounce names correctly then that's actually perfectly fine and you don't have to support them on patreon. It is your money at the end of the day and you can choose to support people or not support them for whatever reason you want. But pretending like there's no reason at all to pay for someones patreon if they don't say your name correctly is a little silly.
Fortune Ladies are so cool, but they dont have an endgame. Water is a non OPT draw 2, they have access to Allure, the Spellbook draw spell, Wonder Wand, and their own draw spell, Dark specials from deck, they're all attributes so you can mix it ith Shaddoll and Invoked, its just...Okay you drew 7 cards and specialed 6 monsters. Now what? Every is an alright card but not a great boss or endgame card. They just need a good boss monster and I can see them being a pretty good deck.
for the wheel, can we have one deck overlap on both so we both and feel that horror when they both spin that same deck at least one more time XD (I know its a bad idea but part of me liked seeing the mirror XD)

I use to play this deck, so u didn't have the 1 fire. Also 2 play a more explosive version of thr deck add miracle fusions, Mali, d draw, future fusion, and absolute zero

A lot of people didn't play Earth in FL but personally I always felt she was mandatory as 1 just to be a big attacker.
In my experience, she was kinda necessary to put any kind of pressure on the opponent. Earth and Dark were basically inseparable when I played them xD

I beat out Dark Simorgh (bad hands for player), 2 Vayu Turbos (including hubby, basically burn damage from dualin’ Earth and Fire) and a Lightsworn who decked out twice cuz of Marshmallon. my ONLY loss was to my friend running Six Samurai.

I love fortunelady, I used to play a spellbook fortunelady deck prejudgment. It wasn’t anything compedetive but it would hold its own at locals, the deck had a lot of draw power and spellbook of life has some synergy’s with fortuneladys by increasing levels. Future visions as also pretty backbreaking today a lot of strategy’s in that format especially with a fate in reserve.
fortune lady really are the abhorred child of 2 parents that are at complete odds. one wants their child to be better than anyone else while the other tries their best to make it as incompetent as possible
As I don't know that much about Yugioh past formats, it would be nice to see some extra info (maybe in the end of the video) about which cards got released for the deck at the time. I didn't see the Fortune Lady Every, so I guess it was not released, but there were other Spellcaster cards for support, so it would be nice to see why some strategies were not used at the time. The wheel is a nice touch to get some RNG manipulation for the series
no clue why Cimo didn't effect veiler the Drill Warrior and the Dark Hole it. On the other hand, MBT didn't have anything worth grabbing from grave, but.
Fortune Ladies is such a fun deck. Well once they got Every and Calling.
The fortune lady stuff seems good on paper until you realise that they don't actually like being banished it's just light that wants to be normal summoned with the field spell nor do they get anything off of being returned to the graveyard by fortunes future nor a reliable way to get to activate it outside of blowing a normal summon with the field spell up. The new support kinda helps shore up the sore points but not enough even though the synchro is pretty good
Fortune lady is one of those decks that were(hell,are) thiiiiis close of being an insane engine thanks to water light and their new support just need a little extra push or a deck that plays well with other spellcasters(which quite rare surprisingly)

I use a Fortune Lady Deck coupled with Fortune Fairies, and some spells that increase atk for each different attribute, it's hard to get going, but once it does, you're in a very fortunate position ;)
I think the problem with the Fortune Lady deck is that you had all this draw power and no pay off. No Traps to get off it, you're not stunning MBT into the ground.
If only Cimo played a control variant of FL, maybe we would've seen the glory days!

Fortune Lady pure. What a deck. I am not familiar with the banlist but I imagine Burial is banned? Fortune Lady stun is kind of powerful bc it fixes your graveyard while hating on grave-based game plans but no idea if it’s legal at this time. Powerful of course meaning powerful for fortune ladies specifically

Cimo in the deck description assumed Fortune Lady Wind was a much better card than she is.
She doesn't destroy up to. She destroys exactly the number of S/T that you have Fortune Ladies. If you have more Fortune Ladies than your opponent has back row, she whiffs. It's the stupidest thing.

@@dolphinsniper Granted never used it vs anything more Meta than Buster Blader Control or Magnet warrior Imperion turbo... But the build I had for Fortune Ladies has 3 of each OG and then that one support monster of theirs that manipulates levels for stuff. Then the Spell caster support stuff and 3 Solidarity so that one in GY meant decent atk on some.

But Light starts the full thing running and fire was my fav to summon because of its pop and damage aspect. Plus my draw luck with it was wonderful.

Then again my luck with pulling ED staples is the worst so maybe good spellcasters and Tuner Spellcasters were not a thing at the time.

I think its cost, so it would not trigger Light.
Anything that does not help my Light I try to avoid putting into the deck (when it comes to removal; self or otherwise).
I barely keep track of "if" vs "when" while reading cards so I could be wrong.
An interesting tech spell I have considered is "Share the Pain" a norm spell that reads...

Wouldnt fortune lady light trigger when you bounced it with the birdman? Also in the first game you should have done combat with the dark so you could bring back another dark.
Game one Cimo should’ve summon water instead of setting. Next turn he could’ve done everything he did but with a level 5 water to pair with instant fusion.

Patreon is for supporting creators. If you don't like how certain people don't pronounce names correctly then that's actually perfectly fine and you don't have to support them on patreon. It is your money at the end of the day and you can choose to support people or not support them for whatever reason you want. But pretending like there's no reason at all to pay for someones patreon if they don't say your name correctly is a little silly.

Fortune Ladies are so cool, but they dont have an endgame. Water is a non OPT draw 2, they have access to Allure, the Spellbook draw spell, Wonder Wand, and their own draw spell, Dark specials from deck, they're all attributes so you can mix it ith Shaddoll and Invoked, its just...Okay you drew 7 cards and specialed 6 monsters. Now what? Every is an alright card but not a great boss or endgame card. They just need a good boss monster and I can see them being a pretty good deck.
