The GSCE sweets question isn't hard at all. I don't get what the big deal is.
(6 / n) * (5 / n - 1) = 1/3 --> 30 /( n^2 - n) = 1/3
3 * (30 / (n^2 - n)) = 1/3 * 3 --> 90 / (n^2 - n) = 1
(n^2 - n) * 90 / (n^2 - n) = 1 * (n^2 - n) --> 90 = n^2 - n
90 - 90 = n^2 - n - 90 --> 0 = n^2 - n - 90
*n^2 - n - 90 = 0*
From this you can solve that n = 10.
It's easy to say that but imagine doing it under pressure worrying if you've done the over questions right and in a time limit and possible without a calculator (not sure if it was the calculator paper or not)
flamespirit919 That is true, but I can almost certainly say, 85% of the child population could solve this problem. Also its not really 85% of the pop that could not solve it, I think its more of 65% or so maybe a little higher, a lot of people assume that people in america are fat and ignorant, and while a good majority of them are, some are quite good at sports and are intelligent. So its basically a 50/50 split of stupid and smart, and a 60/40 fat, and not so fat. I'm also just ranting cause i'm bored.
