Hey man, watched your videos. Hope your still hitting the trails. Because of your videos I got a mountain bike. At 330lbs I didn’t think I could do it. But I’m gunna give it a go. Hope your doing good
I had an injury, then bought a house and have been working every weekend fixing up my house. I just picked up some new equipment to start making videos again but Its been a journey. Im going to start posting again soon. thank you for checking in.
Hi Ryan, I enjoy your enthusiasm, and appreciate your other videos and what they contribute to the sport. However, I highly encourage you to select a different route at Dreamy Draw, or at least set up some ground rules. While I don't disagree that your selection is a fun descent, it also is probably the most popular and busy with other trail traffic, especially hikers. I think the risk is just too great for a bad encounter, to publicly encourage a virtual race on this section. At a minimum, I would stop it when you reach the paved path, and not include everything after it to the parking lot. Still, you're racing on the main Trail 100 corridor - not a great choice. Others may take your challenge who don't understand the constant struggle MTBers have with perception from other trail users. It's real - most hikers think we're all out-of-control psychopaths, either from one bad encounter, or just from what they see on TV. It's not reality, but it's the perception that gets communicated. In lieu of a different route, perhaps mandate something like the following (just a suggestion): 1) all submissions must be recorded with a video as proof of the below 2) anytime another trail user is encountered (including an MTBer), the racer must stop, dismount, greet them with a smile and let them pass 3) the dismount must be controlled and every effort made to not frighten the other trail user 4) evidence of skidding (poor braking technique), a trail user jumping out of the way, etc, is strictly prohibited and the run will be invalidated 5) encourage off peak times (weekends not allowed, etc) Change it up a bit, do something different that will surprise other trail users (in a good way) that shows them how we can be creative and considerate of other trail users. Your mission of doing something fun and encouraging others will be fulfilled, but also supports the sport in a positive way. Racing is rad, but the only true way to really be able to open up on trail without consequence to others is on a closed course. Thanks for reading, and keep up the stoke! Cheers!
