2 things i wanna add. Bruh, nago's boss theme crawl was amazing to fight him too. And this video really made me realise that mortal kombat really needs to step up their music game
Fighting game music, especially Guilty Gear's and Tekken, are the most rawest form of OSTs I've ever heard. Tekken specifically because man those techno beats go HARD sometimes.
The scope for both of those games soundtracks goes WAY beyond what was needed. I love both games for that and the only reason I knew about both was primarily from the soundtracks. Guilty Gear Strive legit has the best score :>
one thing I wished you would mention was versus themes. stuff like Under Heaven Destruction (Ragna vs Jin) from Blazblue, Keep the Flag Flying (Order Sol vs Ky) from Guilty Gear, Way to the Horizon (Rock vs Geese) from KOF and so much more. there is so much you can say about these songs and how they not only have to encapsulate 2 different characters, but also their dynamics and relationships in musical format. (and Strive not having any versus themes is yet another proof that it's not a Guilty Gear game)
@@VirtualMementos There's so much to fighting game music you could talk bout so I'd love to see more in the future! One thing that I always enjoyed about KOF's music, for example, is how music is supossed to represent a team of three, rather then one person.

@@VirtualMementos I can agree with you very much there! All of the songs are great to just put on while doing things, Guilty gear songs are so good that I use them as my main source of hype music! In A Moments Time and Moonsiders are probably two of my favorite songs ever, even though I haven’t touched the game for the latter. You’d think fighting games would be the last genre to do it, but these two songs have made me feel more emotion than almost anything else. It’s a strange, almost sad emotion, but it’s a special one.
One day, my old anime fighter newbie and Xrd fan self decided to buy this "Under Night" game it seemed pretty sick. My expectations weren't particularly high, and Xrd's character select is hype so I didn't expect to be blown away or anything when I clicked the "Training" menu option. And then Gathers Under Night's first few notes played. I spend about 5 mins just there staring at the character select screen and listening to that shit. I still get hype every time I open the UNI character select screen for any reason. Absolutely insane character select theme.

@@VirtualMementos Then I welcome You into the KOF fan club 😀 Great thing about XV is that You can listen to songs from older installments - cause KOF games in general tend to have awesome music IMO.
I never played KI but I only recently heard the music. I know a few games try this but not many stuck with it. For what its worth, I think it'd be a great idea.
@@VirtualMementos There’s a short documentary called “Making the audio of Killer Instinct” with interviews from those who worked on the series, Mick Gordon (2013’s main composer) has his own section where he breaks down how it works using all of his tracks, there’s also a separate video focused solely on gordon where he goes through each character theme individually It’s really easy to understand, surprisingly fascinating and not that long, I highly recommend giving a look!
I find a fighting games that have a strong soundtrack don't just build hype for the players, but any spectators as well. One soundtrack that is just absolutely incredible is Killer Instinct 2013. It's dynamic music makes even more exciting. Fight slows down, the music is more subdued. Fight intensifies and the music explodes with energy. If there is one song I always love to highlight in the game it's Maya's theme City of Dawn. As for other awesome fighting game songs, I gotta mention Moonlit Wilderness from Tekken 5. It's intense and makes any fight on that stage feel like a climactic showdown between two rivals in an action movie or anime. As for boss themes, the one that has recently been stuck in my head is Crawl from the Guilty Gear Strive soundtrack. I can't believe I almost forgot to mention the awesomeness that is The King of Fighters XIII soundtrack I don't think there's any song in that game that I even remotely dislike. But the highlight song for me there is Each Promise which is Team Elizabeth's theme.
Moonlit Wilderness is one I didn't think of before the video aaaa! That one is up there for me too. But as someone who used to just watch a lot of matches, the music can help build up so much hype and tension. Will look into the KOF games soon too since I never played any aside from a tiny bit of XV :)
@@VirtualMementos Moonlit Wilderness is definitely in like the top 3 reasons why Tekken 5 is my favourite Tekken. And if you end up checking out KOF I recommend either 98, 2002 UM and XIII. It might sound weird, but fighting games having great music is a huge reason why I get into them at all. Not that I can't get into games without their songs being out of the park, but they really help set the overall mood. KOF13/14, Melty Blood CC, Under Night, SF3/4, BBTAG, stuff with amazing tracks can get me to check a game out, let alone spend hours labbing out with said themes playing. It extends to games like Hotline Miami, VA-11 HALL-A, osts can make me buy a game if it's *that* good. Not that they're the only ones that I like, but still. FighterZ is lucky it's so enjoyable, it's the only fighter I turn music off for with how mediocre it is imo. It's not bad per say, but nothing I'd listen to during a match, practice, or anything beyond that over whatever I can pull up on YT.
I really think we are alike in that sense, and granted I only now have began my journey learning fighting games propper (this year) the music has been a MAJOR drive to learn.
