What’s going on people In this video we’re about to break down all evidence from Attack on Titan, that indicates the first (armoured titan was a lot different from the one we know today. As we’ve seen in the anime so far, the abilities of a titan shifter can change based on certain factors, with an example being how Eren gained hardening after consuming the armor serum; or how Falco’s shifter is essentially a hybrid between the jaw and beast titans. Today I’ll be explaining why the original armoured titan was very likely a hybrid just like this and along the way we’ll be answering a few mysteries about the old eldian empire.
Ok so to explain this armoured titan theory we need to flashback around 2000 years, to a time when there was only one shifter on the entire planet. That shifter was of course the original founding titan Ymir, and after her death King Fritz was desperate to make sure, that the eldian empire didn’t lose her power. Since she was the first ever titan nobody knew if her ability could be passed down and so he made his daughters eat Ymir in the hope that maybe that would do something. Luckily for him the idea worked even better than he could’ve hoped, as Ymir’s power wasn’t just passed on to a single person, but rather it was divided between the 3 of them. Maria, Rose and Sina each inherited their own unique titan shifters that had never been seen before and in the process, they became the first hybrid titans. What I mean by hybrids is that their 3 shifters would’ve inherited a mixture of different traits from Ymir, for instance one of them might’ve been larger than the others, another might’ve specialised in hardening, while another would have a more beast like appearance.
What this all means is that Fritz discovered a way for Eldia to increase the amount of shifters they had, which is why within just a few generations, the empire went from having only 1 titan to having an army of 9. These 9 titans each had their own unique characteristics as we know, but from the beginning it was obvious that some were more closely related than others. For example, the jaw, cart and beast titans all share animalistic features that none of the other shifters posses and in the final arc of the series Isayama went out of his way to highlight just how similar they are. The clear resemblance between them isn’t a coincidence, but rather it’s the result of these 3 titans descending from the animalistic titan hybrid. In that way the beast, cart and jaw would essentially be siblings as the three of them descended from one specific daughter of ymir.
This brings us to the most important trio of titans, which are the armor, warhammer and founder. When we look into their history, it’s undeniable that these 3 are the most naturally gifted when it comes to harnessing the power of titan hardening. For 2000 years they’ve evidenced this in various ways, whether it be Karl Fritz using the founder to form the 3 enormous walls on Paradis; or whether its' the different warhammer using hardening to create any weapon they want. These are things that no shifters are naturally able to do and although the armoured isn’t currently on that level, it doesn’t mean that its always been that way. We’ve already established that the 9 titans of today are simply the offshoots of hybrid titans that used to exist, so it stands to reason that 2000 years ago, the first armoured titan was actually a hybrid between the armor and warhammer. This is supported by the fact when you examine them side by side, they are the only shifters in history to ever have any type of shell or plates built onto their body. That alone makes it clear that they were closely related in the same way that the jaw and cart titan are related, and this is where the concept for this theory came from. - บันเทิง

What is your favorite titan out of the nine.
Another possibility as to why they never divided the titans further is the fact that they got relatively weaker as they were split. I'd imagine if they divided into too many shifters it'd become more difficult to control, like their first transformation

After the 9 were all split, they just couldn't make anymore and realized that what they got was it.
There are 9 Realms in Norse Mythology, and since there's a lot of Germanic roots in AoT, makes sense that, for some magical reason, they stopped at 9
They all mean something different and, well, yeah, they split to 9 powers and that was it
You could say that after Titan shifters increased to nine, the Eldians were disappointed with Titans like Cart and Attack considering Cart cannot be used in combat and Attack Titan has no special power (or so they thought). So they avoided increasing Titan shifters.

@@loystonveigas9369 Attack doesnt have any special power, right? I thought their so-called ability to see into the future was actually just Eren manipulating the memories of past Attack Titans using the Founder/Co-ordinate, so that everything would play out in history the way he desired.

In regard to there only being nine shifters, another interesting possibility could be that the Eldian ruler made some kind of permanent edict, not in writing, but with the Founder's power, kind of like the Vow Renouncing War, that prevented the Power of the Titans from dividing any further
The Eldian ruler didn't knew the secret power of Attack Titan which means Attack Titan was powerless except for the default abilities and Cart couldn't be used in warfare of that period. So the Eldian ruler made it a rule to stop dividing Titan powers which Ymir couldn't disobey.

Probably the most likely answer is splitting too much would essentially water down the shifters too much. Its like cell division. At some point the dividing would stop either due to a lack of reason/stimulus or the powers themselves growing too weak to be considered special or unique.
4:20 I agree with everything except this. Swap the colossal and founder simply due to the fact that the female, founder, and attack typically have skin.
While the armored and war-hammer may just have a thick shell/bone covering.

Me and my best friend had the same thought of Ymir’s daughters having three Titan powers like I always called their titans the Molding (Armored,Colossal,and Warhammer) ,Principal(Female,Attack,and Founder),and Monstrous (Beast,Cart,and Jaw) Titans. I even see three of the ancient titans as one of the daughters.

personally my way of splitting them is: God of all titans (Colossal,Female,Founder) the knight (Attack,Armored,Warhammer) and the chariot (Beast,Cart,Jaw)
i think jaw would be more molding because jaw armored and warhammer have the common trait of hardened parts on their bodies and jaw has a hardened jaw
So the first Sister had more support, the second Sister had offense and the third Sister had defence

Honestly, I'm so happy that I'm not the only one that had this exact same theory. Except my lineage is a little bit different, and I think I agree with yours a lot more.
My original lineage has the cart, the beast and the jaw descending from one of the daughters, maybe the youngest, because they are usually the smallest amongst the Titans, at least for the jaw and the cart.
The attack Titan, the founder and the female Titan all descending from the eldest daughter. For the attack and found her for me it makes sense because the founder is connected to the coordinates a place that's outside of space and time, while the attack heightened can get visions not just of their previous wielders but of those that will inherit the Titan in the future. And honestly my reasoning for the female Titan being part of this triad is mostly because Ymir's original titan looked very female.
I have the armor Titan, the Warhammer and the colossal in the third triad because of one very obvious reason. As you stated The army Titan has hardening while the Warhammer Titan has the ability to control hardening, so that's a given however the armor Titan and the colossal Titan are usually paired up together because the armor tighten can take a direct blast from the colossal Titans transformation. I'm not sure if I got that from the manga or from the anime, or I probably made that up entirely but I feel like I remember that being mentioned at some point.
However, you pointing out that the colossal Titan and the female Titan not having skin is a very strong similarity Yes so I am more inclined to believe your theory. But I have no clue how the original female Titan appeared like so maybe there was one of the earlier inheritors of the female Titan that had full skin just like the founder, although that is a stretch that could be another explanation for my original linages.

I think you were referencing the scene back in season 3 (?). Where Bertholdt needs to transform but he's unaware how Reiner fell, if he fell on his back, Bert was confident he'd be able to survive, but if Reiner fell face first, he'd probably die because of the damage Reiner had previously sustained

Your pairing I think makes more sense than the one in the video. Also consider that Reiner's titan was also skinless when you ignore the armour plates, and likewise we don't see normal skin on the warhammer; it has skin made of distinct white hardening, and on its face where you can see under that there's a skinless face. Essentially these two titans would be skinless if not for their specialized hardening abilities.
I think that Reiner's titan could have been more interesting, I mean we saw him harden his fingers, what if he hardened his armor? Reiner's armored titan's armor seems to have no chance against the Warhammer's attacks, Thunder Spears, and even Eren himself in season 3 Part 2. Season 4 Part 1 and Part 2. I think this could have been an exciting idea if were in the anime.
he isnt supposed to be able to defend himself from those things, it is stated in the anime that he is almost obsolete compared to what the enemies of marley have to defend themselves
@@sinister7290 I would say it's less about him not being able to defend himself agaist them, and more about him just being left behind. Still doe, why Reiner never though of using hardening again after seeing the things that were going thru his armor still baffles me.

When concentrated into fingers or limbs like Annie and Eren or the crystals Annie and Lara used were all but indestructible but when spread across the entire body it becomes weaker reigner could harden his hands more but I think if he tried to double armour his whole body it would have very little difference. It is also shown multiple times hardening takes time to form such as Annie and refiners claws or erens knuckles so trying to harden a specific area mid attack would likely take too long (the only thing that goes against my weakening theory is erens crystallisation since it seems to have an enormous range and stays super tough but I think that is actually part of the founders power since the only titans we know can do that are the founders)
In my opinion, it would be cool if the titans were divided into three original classes before they became the nine.
Maria would be the Founding class as she was the oldest and next to take the throne. She would house the Female, Colossal and Founding titans.
Rose (to me) seems like the protector or fighter of the family. In my opinion she would have the Warrior class titans. She would possess the Attack, Armoured and Warhammer titans.
And then we would have Sina the youngest. Because she would be considered weaker compared to her sisters, I think she would have the Quadruped class. That way, she would find other ways of being useful without fighting on the battlefield. She would possess the Beast, Cart and Jaw titans.
Of course their children would eat their spines, then the nine would be created, the cycle continues and so on and so forth.
I would swap the collosal titan and founder. Basically I would think of it like this. The "beast" line, having increased stamina and more unusual forms, which is the beast, cart, and jaw titans. The "titan" line, which is the colossal, armored, and warhammer titans,each of them utilizing a unique aspect of titan biology. And then the "human" line with the female, attack and founder, who have more unique abilities outside of just their titan forms, which are more basic compared to the 6 others. The only weird one in that 3rd line is the female titan, which I interpret to be kind of like the "husk" of what remained of the original founder titan, in that it has traits from the other lines, like increased stamina from the beast line, the ability to encase the user in crystal like the Warhammer titan did, and the general proportions of the human line.
This just made me realise that both armin and erwin could have survived if they knew they could split the colossal titan's power between them
A reason in my mind at least, is that if they kept dividing the powers, it would only become weaker and weaker. We see that every time its divided its just splitting the power onto 2 people. So maybe they just stopped because they didnt wanna make their powers any weaker? they are already just a fraction of ymirs original strength individually.

I'm glad that you explained this. I was confused about why Yimir's children didn't inherit anything. I thought the titan powers were divided into nine and were inherited by some baby. Which explains why there were multiple families with the title of the titan powers. This video did clear the air for me, so thank you very much.
the War Hammer, if split, would likely go like this:
Drone Titan: a Titan that can be controlled by the user outside of the nape with mild hardening capabilities
Assault Titan: a Titan that can create weapons out of hardening but can only harden the nape, wrists, and hands
I don't think splitting Titans would create completely new powers like the Sea Titan, because as cool as it is, it makes no sense according to this theory's logic
I mean you could recombine these new powers just by having one person eat two or more of these Titans. The Sea Titan would probably be some combination of a Beast Titan power and a Female/Attack Titan power. The Paths Titan could be made with some meddling with the Attack Titan and Female Titan, etc.
What if you split the titans capable of having many things though? Like the beast, you could get three versions, land, sky, and water titans, so it isn't too farfetched of an idea.
I think the limitations come when you try to split and make new concepts, like playing with the elements, because none of the titans can do that, only hardening, human and animal abilities/looks could be canon
Colossal maybe 2 30 metre titans one can make steam and the other has an explosion
Finally some good OC Titans that makes sense according to AOT lore and not performing Jutsus and elements bending.

I would add another reason why they wouldn't divide the power into more than 9
By the time there were 9 Titans, the 9 families (even though closely related) already had some competitive spirit and wouldn't want to lose their power.
When you divide a Titan into more than 1 Titan, the resulting Titans, even though there are more than before, would have less abilities to use in combat.
One family had the cart, who is not the most gifted one as an example, they wouldn't want to divide it into 2 even weaker Titans, know what I mean?
Yelena may have been lying about the titan transformation fluid being more than spinal fluid. They lied about how it works a lot.

Instead, I think it's like this based on their specialty and the powers they possess:
Group #1 (The Founder Group)
Founding Titan, Attack Titan, Female Titan, and Beast Titan.
Reason:
Attack Titan
• Its longing to search for freedom stemmed from Ymir through the Founding Titan
• Has a special ability to see future attack titan user's memories similar to the Founder's power on The Paths.
Female Titan
• Has a unique ability to possess any titan ability from one of the 9 titans if the female consumes a part of it, probably stemming from the founder having all abilities at once in the first place.
• Could call upon the pure titans like the founder
•(Might be a stretch) Isn't weird that the first user is a female and one of the 9 titans is always a female titan, regardless of the user's gender?
Beast Titan
• it's the ability to turn users into animal titans might have been from the worm founding titan (which is revealed to always be present in the body of the current founder)
Group #2 (Warhammer Group)
Warhammer Titan, Jaw Titan, and Armored Titan.
Reason:
•Jaw Titan possesses super strong and indestructible jaws and claws that might've derived from the Warhammer's hardening abilities.
• For the Armored Titan, this should probably be already obvious with its hardening abilities.
Group #3 (The Colossal Group)
Colossal Titan and Cart Titan
Reason:
• Ain't it weird that there is a titan that possesses such powerful abilities yet lacks the endurance to use at its maximum while at the same time there is also a titan that possesses high endurance? I think the colossal titan used to have the endurance of the Cart but lost it after one of the Fritz siblings passed it down or by one of their children as they didn't know how it worked yet at the time causing it to be unfortunately split and thus nerfing the colossal? This could also be a potential origin of the Eldian Empire starting the Titan experiments to further figure out how titan powers work.
I proposed the Founding Titan, Colossal Titan, and War Hammer Titan being the main 3 titans because they're all the ones that can be seen actively possessed by Ymir Fritz's Titan. Founding Titan because it's the origin of the titan powers and that Ymir had the founder worm inside her, Colossal Titan because of Ymir's Titan size, and War Hammer, because King Fritz mentioned Ymir, built and developed a lot of infrastructures assumingly thanks to the War Hammer's ability.

The beast has no power to make titans the one who could do that is titan shifters with royal blood and the founding titan...if you are a titan shifter without royal blood you can't transform eldians who drankn your spinal fluid into titans.... So it must be ;

Here's an interesting question. If the Titan shifters existed in Norse mythology, which shifter would reside in each realm, and why? Personally, I made a PowerPoint listing this very topic but some don't have a real reason. I'd like to hear your thoughts on it. I mostly used the realms as interpreted in God of War.
1) Founding Titan = Asgard. Reason: Asgard housed the Aesir gods, and the Founding Titan can very well be considered a god, and like the Founding titan, Asgard was the most talked about compared to other realms.
2) Colossal Titan = Jotunheim. Reason: Self-explanatory, biggest titan goes to the realm of giants
3) Beast Titan = Alfheim. Reason: Felt the most relevant for it.
4) Attack Titan = Vanaheim. Reason: originally none, but a recent discovery led to a happy accident, as the Vanir can see into the future, much like the Attack Titan.
5) Armored Titan = Nifilheim. Reason: Armor most useful against the harmful effects of the fog.(again, GoW version)
6) Cart Titan = Svartalfheim/Nidavellir. Reason: Since this is where the dwarves live, the Cart Titan could live up to its name by transporting huge amounts of resources.
7) War Hammer Titan = Musphelheim. Reason: Kind of like a replacement for Surtr.
8) Female Titan = Midgard. Reason: Like the Beast titan in Alfheim, it felt most relevant here.
9) Jaw Titan = Helheim. Reason: last one to be added to the PowerPoint, but little "in-universe" reason. Best I could come up with is, like with Hades in Greek mythology, the Jaw titan drew the short end of the stick and was stuck with inhabiting the Norse underworld.

Ackermans can't turn into titans tho, as they already "have the powers of a titan in a humans body"
In the last chapters of the manga when the LUCA released the gas which titanised the rest of the survivors, Levi and Mikasa were not affect and its the same reason why the founding titan cant influence the Ackerman clan

Enhancing the abilities of specific Titan? Royal bloods exists. The only thing that crosses my mind if an Ackermann could inherit a Titan is that they inherit battle experiences which means no need of training for their Titans.
Maybe like Titan Shifter super soldiers. Basically a shifter who when shifted has all their natural abilities on steroids maybe.

What if multiple or double people eat one titan shifter? Lets say the cart… would the cart split into 3? Or would one of them get it
Great theory video! Personally, I would have swapped the places of the Colossal Titan and the Founder. Aside from its size, the Colossal Titan's main distinguishing trait is its precise control over its body matter, e.g. controlling the intensity of its transformation, and converting its muscle mass to steam. This seems more similar to the abilities of the War Hammer Titan, which has very precise control over its hardening abilities, and the Armored Titan, which has at least some control over its armor, being able to shed certain parts of it at will. As other people in other TH-cam comment sections have pointed out, the Attack and Female Titans' abilities are more 'meta' and thus more similar to the Founder. The Attack Titan can see memories from its future users, similar to the Founder's ability to know parts of the future; and the Female Titan can easily appropriate traits from the other Titans, similar to the Founder's ability to use the powers of the other Eight.
So, in my opinion, the generation of hybrid titans would have been Beast-Jaw-Cart, Colossal-Armored-Warhammer, and Founder-Attack-Female.

I have been wondering. Why Reiner never did the same trick as Annie and Eren. They concentrate hardening on their fist. That way he can deliver more damage.
i think annie's female titan already had the ability and for eren he had to drink a serum for it, reiner knows how to use hardening but eren hardening got stronger when he got warhammer titan
He actually uses it. To climb a wall, never used it for fighting.
his fists already have armor so i dont think he could have concentrated to add more since it would have been redundant. only his nails were able to be grown in special cases for climbing

Excellent theory, except we know that the Founder can at will make Eldians transform into titans, so to me pure titans have always existed ever since some random Founder discovered it. But beyond that, the Eldians obviously explored science and then found ways of emulating the Founder's power through means of the serum.
Not to mention the still unknown titan science that essentially made the Ackermans titans in human form. If that experimentation continued, could there have been ways to bestow characteristics of the nine titans onto normal humans? Like a human with armored plating like the Armored Titan or ones with animal traits like the Beast Titan?

Not to mention, even to assume that the Armored and Warhammer were 1 shifter and that another got the Founder would be to assume that daughter of Ymir only had 2 kids, and who knows, maybe she had 3 kids or 1, we don't know how long it took for them to split into the set of 9 we have today.
But if they kept having kid after kid like Ymir, who knows, maybe they'd each have 3 kids a couple years apart, and then those 3 would each inherent 1 Titan, so the 9 could've been the grandchildren of Ymir. Who knows 🤔
I love the design of the original armour titan. The mask's design just reminds me a lot of tokusatsu (I'm a fan of Kamen Rider specifically) and that's cool
Maybe a follow up video could be what new titans could be created if the 9 titans continued splitting apart

I remember the video you made about all beast titans/cart titans. Some of the ancient titans were confusing because they look like a fart or jaw and beast titan. Maybe this is an example of titan shifters when there weren’t all 9 titans. Like the crocodile beast titan we saw; it very much resembled a beast titan but had skin and a very long mouth like Pieck’s titan. I think your theory is right.

I think also a reason may have been Shifters got weaker when the powers were separated, so I think that was also a reason. However I will say a few could’ve been split up in terms of powers.
Another comment said this but Warhammer could’ve been made into a Titan called the Drone Titan that can pilot outside the body, but I’d also say it’d also be able to choose where-ever the human body would be located in the Titan when transforming. The other part, the Warhammer weapons and creations would pretty much stay the same, and I think even you could just continue calling this the Warhammer Titan. Maybe the other part that got split might gain a few extra abilities like maybe it can pilot two titan bodies at once? That’d be neat.
The next Titan to split would be the Founder I could see. This is tricky because it’s also a possibility that the Founder is something that shouldn’t be split at all. But here’s how I see it, there’d be four. The Founder still, it’d keep all the abilities it can since anyone with Royal Blood can still use all abilities of all other Titans so it’ll be fine if it got split. The three new titans I see this making is the Bio Titan, one that can alter its body in different ways. Could be similar to Warhammer making things with hardening but instead Titan flesh, and could likely make different forms when transforming, like a quadruple form like a Jaw or Cart. This is since the Founder has the ability to alter the appearance of any Founder, so I could see that also being made into an ability of the user changing their own appearance if they chose to. Could be useful if you’re an outlaw. Next would be the Mind Titan, one that specializes in memory alterations and messing with peoples minds. I could see it doing stuff like showing false images and things to other titans or even making people see their own fears. And finally, the Paths Titan idea you made, that would likely be a unique offshoot from the Founder splitting up.
And the one that would be the most optimal to split up, the Beast. This one has so much variation I’m surprise it wasn’t ever split up more. You could have it so there’s a Titan specific to the water (like your Sea Titan idea), air like Falco’s Jaw, maybe one focused on being underground like a mole type one, and one more standard like the Zeke Beast we see. Definitely Beast has to be one that would be best to split up since it would only limit what the user gets from it. Like say if the Beast was to give the user a more water based animal, since it wouldn’t cause in this hypothetical there’d be a Sea Titan, it’d be some sort of different animal.
Attack, Armored, Air, Beast, Bio, Colossal, Cart, Drone, Female, Founder, Jaw, Mind, Paths, Sea, Undergound, and Warhammer. I decided to list what the Titans would be in alphabetical order. This would result in a whopping total of sixteen shifters in the story, almost doubling the amount. It would be really interesting to see how an AoT story would work with sixteen of the Titans running around.

Ah, thanks. As for the other three splitting I do not know to be honest. Jaws is the simplest but it would be really weak for each. Separate the claws into one Titan and the jaw into another. As for Cart, I just think this one would make too weak of titans to properly split. I fully believe that Cart is a byproduct of splitting Jaw given their similarities (both are bipedal, the only ones that are besides maybe some Beasts but even then probably not a similar size. Both are quick and fast. Plus we see both usually can use their bite force to great advantage). So I think Cart stays. As for Female, I think it may be a byproduct as well, but it’s actually more of a side grade to the titans. Perhaps it was once apart of the Attack before splitting. That’s again another theory but yeah, that’s what I see. I specifically chose Titans that had a plethora of abilities that either could be expanded upon enough to be a unique Titan (like the Warhammer’s cord nape, which, to be honest is kinda hard to understand why it’s specific to the Warhammer really), or has so much variety between the users separating it seems like a good idea to gain multiple titans that usually would be a total random chance of getting (Beast).
@@ang1759 I think the cord nape is Warhammer-specific because it’s the only titan that can create constructs that would allow that.
Turtle please reply ...vid suggestion: explain why there is lightning when transforming into a titan and also why there are other variant of it like when a jaw titan transforms it has multiple lightning and and when an attack transforms it has only one also when founding transforms

with regards to the 3 categories of Titans, the Jaw, Cart and Beast I agree with, but i’d actually change the other groups to consist of the Colossal, Armoured and Warhammer, due to their special abilities being control over specific aspects of their own body, and then the Attack, Female and Founder, with their most powerful abilities directly involving other people, (Female’s copying, Attacks future memories, and obviously the Founder’s control over all Eldians)
8:45 I think the founder may have it instituted some sort of power. Check smilar to tye Vow Renouncing war or placed some sort of lock on the power itself where it could not divide further

I like this theory, if you think about it one of the nine Norse realms was jötunheimr aka the realm of the giants. One of nine titans is the colossal titan. I wonder how the other titans fit into other realms
udging by some of what we see of the ancients summoned, it seems like the three groupings was something like [armour, warhammer, female(crystal)], [beast, jaw, cart(quadrupedal)], [founding, attack(clairvoyant), colossal]
i was actually thinking of the warhammer armor titan hybreed a lot
if the warhammer titan ate the armored titan or vice versa and the more i thought about it the more it sounded so overpowered since the armored titan using the crystal of the warhammer like armor and it would be very hard to beat unless the jaw helped

probably something similar to the curse of ymir. she only lived for 13 years after gaining her powers and thus every titan can only live that long. and since ymir only had 3 kids before her death and her powers were split in only three then her daughters powers could only be split in three. and since 9 is kind of a holy number for the branches of the tree of life then it could not be separated any further.

Could Ymir be the limiting factor as to why powers could only be passed down onto three people. We see how warrior-titans could only stay alive for 13 years (because Ymir died 13 years after gaining her power), how titan powers are transferred through consuming the spinal fluid. Similarly, because Ymir's body was eaten by 3 people and her power passed down to three people, that would serve as limiting factor that only 3 people would gain the power after eating any of the daughter's spine.
Additionally, they tried to get more people to eat and gain titan powers, but found out that the titans were now limited to just 9 power wielding titans, but these weird experimentations gave rise to the Ackermann's and other immune/specialized clans
