For those of you that don't feel like following the trail of breadcrumbs left for you, when Tim Allen was in his 20's he got busted with a shitload of coke, and ratted out a bunch of other dealers to reduce his sentence. Served 2 or 3 years I think.
Tim Allen's recovery and story of turning his life around is actually really inspiring. He was into some pretty bad stuff before he took on his acting career.
This is one of the best/weirdest Christmas movies ever. A man accidentally kills Santa, becomes him after a magical legal document binds him with the spirit of Santa, has a existential crisis over it including questioning his sanity and endures PG body horror, gets into an absolutely stone-faced serious legal dispute over custody battles with his ex-wife, and gets arrested for kidnapping his son. This is also my favorite Christmas movie ever. Tim Allen is in great form with this movie.
I never ever noticed the slightly off facial expressions until reading reviews about it- the animation sequences will still be instilled in my childhood unforgettables forever though
I didn't even like the book. It just didn't make sense, If Santa doesn't exist than where do the presents come from if the parents aren't buying them. Does Santa magically make people think they bought the gifts themselves what would be the purpose.
Holy crap! This is another time I'm blown away by how well you nailed it when I could never see the darkness of the movie before. This is all exactly right - it felt like a classic 'cause I watched it as a kid who loved Tim Allen in Home Improvement and totally missed what this world is actually like! And it's not even hidden implications that you don't notice until way later...
It's so weird how many christmas classics rely on the premise "santa claus is real, BUT just like in real life, *nobody* believes he's real. And now they gotta deal with that!" Like, that's weird. It's extra weird that the attitude isn't different. It's supposed to play with you, twist your perception that maybe common knowledge is wrong, but it doesn't take much noggin-scratching to realize you've never gotten mysterious free gifts.
@@KairuHakubi I'd like to make a Santa Claus movie where he's real, but for most families he doesn't actually deliver gifts because he knows the parents do his work for him.
Does that make Tim Allen the Deadpool or the Punisher of Christmas movies? Going to have to look up some "better" examples of anti-heroes... Shadow the Hedgehog!
Ok so the problem with these Santa movies is that santa exists, and gives everyone presents. So why don't the parents believe? Where do they think the presents are coming from?
At least they didn't double down like that Tooth Fairy movie with the Rock, where they keep themselves secret even though they're being shut down because people don't believe.
In the movie her response is something like "you're not my type," so it's not exactly out of context. That's not what he meant, but it may be how she took it; or she made a joke. She's a 1,000 year old elf in a child's body, who knows.
@@rnb2087 I mean it was still out of context in this video. He said that in response to her saying she was over 1,000 years old so it wasn't weird for him to say that to her. If you hadn't seen the movie, you'd definitely feel uncomfortable
It's creepy even with context, whether she's a child or not, she definitely looks like one so that line is gross. Makes me want to take a shower every time I hear it.
Thank you for giving me nightmares that the Santa Clause is actually a disease that takes root in a host's body and mutates it beyond recognition. I will sleep well tonight.

Why does everyone expect them to do a trailer about a movie that's still in the theaters? do you expect them to use a bootleg copy for the footage? lol

Obviously you have never seen the 1950s Mexican Santa movie.
Santa versus the Martians? Really, any of the Christmas movies MST3K has watched.
I thought it was refreshing to see a man get the better of a woman in matters of divorce. What other film has ever done anything remotely like that?
