    For as much as I enjoy watching your drain videos almost daily, all those appliances are just running off the battery/inverter and not the solar panel. The solar panel is not supplying enough power to run the appliances. Apologies for sounding negative, sincerely not my intentions.
    Is the solar panel large enough power to charge the battery - sure (given enough sunshine). To power the appliances directly?...Nope. The real test is to measure the solar panel's current AND voltage under load (i.e. power being generated) vs. the load requirements.
    Again, apologies for sounding negative, not my intentions. Recently retired engr.

    That inverter was sucking that battery. No way does an A/C run on 100 watts.
    Would you like proof? Very simple, disconnect the battery.
    Unlike you, I am an EE. BTW, that panel at max is putting out only 80 watts.

    How lomg will the AC run?

  • @ajeshnr
    @ajeshnr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Actually your inverter is supplying 75% of the power from the battery to run this AC. If this AC is 400 watts, roughly say 300 watts from battery and 100 watts from solar panel.

    Guys make sure you realize it's a BATTERY, INVERTER, AND SOLAR that's powering EVERYTHING. Not just an inverter and solar panel.. YOU NEED A BATTERY

    Could you also still sustain the AC for significant amount of time? (Assuming you had more battery power).

    Can you do a video on this 100w -> AC set up in a few weeks. I want to hear about your experience. Is the duration consistent? How much more duration can you get from a 2nd battery?
    Thanks 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

      The battery he is using will be toast in no time. Even gel batteries can not do this for more then a few times. The only thing you can possibly use for AC and solar is a battle born battery. Life po4. Everything else will be destroyed so quickly. When you go more than half way through a charge of a battery you are damaging it forever. Unless it's lithium.

    • @ADHDAdventurer
      @ADHDAdventurer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You must work for battle born! This absolutely will run for years if he’s not significantly discharging the battery. He could easily run the ac for an hour then let it charge for 2 hours without any damage to the battery over a 5-6 year period. The smarter thing would be to spend the money on more panels and a second battery vs the cost of battle born. I lived completely off grid on yachts with 600W of solar and 2 group 31 batteries ($120) would run my ac all day and half the night off the solar.

      @@ADHDAdventurer is that a lithium battery? Everyone keeps telling me that lead acid won't work

    • @ricrid

      He is talking about a marine deep cycle lead acid battery like we use to use on a trolling motor running trot lines all summer , i ran that battry down a thousand times and charged it right back up , one day my cousin needed it for his truck and used it for 2 years b4 he sold the truck . But then again that was 30 years ago. Seems like they built stuff better then

    Wow thats awsome! Now I know I can run an AC during the day with just 100w, maybe I can store the rest on batterys for the night. Thank you so much for sharing your Wisdom, especially for the DIY water well!

    • @ADHDAdventurer
      @ADHDAdventurer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That ac uses 250-400W. You would need 20% more solar than what your AC is using to run all day to account for losses in the solar, charge controller, and inverter.

    I've been trying some cheap inverters and they were having trouble with the amps side of things. They should have been able to handle the watts side. And they'd be low watt devices and trip the power inverter over and over on amps when trying to run an AC. :S
    I'm wondering which ones can handle an AC without tripping it and not cost hundreds of dollars still.

    Okay folk so what he's not showing you is that the air conditioner is not going to run that long The battery is going to get sucked dry no matter if there's voltage going into it or not it's pulling more amps and what's being made. You would need more batteries and more solar panels just to sustain the air conditioner and I'm guessing you're going to need a whole lot more batteries than one and probably closer to a thousand watts and solar panels you may be able to get by with 600 Watts with micro inverters
