Thanks for the comment and watching the video. It was a great honor for me to make almost 40 videos with Ralph Robertson that I filmed over a two year period. Since his passing in December they have been a surge in his video views here on TH-cam. The series was first posted a few years back on Facebook but at that time the TH-cam Channel only had about 2k subscribers. Now that I’m at over 100k subs “The Greasy Hollow Memories” videos have found a whole new audience.. Come along with me to Greasy Hollow, Tennessee and meet a real Appalachian storyteller that became a living legend. So sorry to hear this. i so enjoyed his dry humor bit about the history of his store and all of his collectibles & his stories. Our Greatest generation is almost completely gone. thank you, sir, for giving a voice to our greatest generation. You are a gentleman & thanks again for making a difference as while we are on this earth we have to make a difference in our lives!
The greatest generation is slowly fading. The saddest part is that one day their stories will be gone forever.
You are so right
I wouldnt say the greatest but its definitely one of the greatest

@@Tampafan33 it has been labeled that, the greatest generation. When people say that they are usually referring to the fact that it's been called that, like we talked about Gen x, Millennials and so forth 😊
The greatest Generation still living in modern times that we all got to know?
They will live on in videos such as these!
Thank you John for introducing us to Ralph. You gave him the fame he so deserved for his hard work and dedication to the Southern life. God be with all of you.

We all feel the loss of a good hearted country man, praying for the hearts of family and close friends of Ralph. Thank you for sharing him with the world....
It’s so sad when elderly people are taken out of their home and environment, they go downhill so fast. It’s like they leave their heart there and desire to just go home. It’s necessary to get them help when they need it but they’re rooted to the land. God bless his family and blessings to you John. You brought a lot of joy and respect to Ralph’s last few years.
So true. My sis went thru this at 92 and all she said is take me home now, but then she died peacefully.
Once they fall, it's like a timer is set. It's so sad to see them decline 😔
@@dirtisbetterthandiamondsyes it is so sad.
@@rachelfrees1268She did go home just not her natural one. Blessings to your family.

What a great man! he was the real deal, they don't make them like that anymore, Rest in peace Ralph & God Bless!

John, you presented his story with honor and respect. I think he'd be proud. and how heart breaking when we lose our elders. They don't make 'em like that anymore. Thank you for making all of those videos. I am going to catch up on all that I missed. Your channel is the best. Hppe your New Year is very blessed.
I appreciate that
You’re wrong. They do make em like that still just not near as much. Here in the south there’s still plenty of people being raised like they were and taught the same values.
Very sorry to hear this news. We lost a real hero.... honest, integrity, love of his family and community.

The very first video I watched on this channel was the one where he opened the store for the first time in many years. I've been hooked since. God bless you Ralph and rest in peace.
As the grandson of two hero grandfathers about Ralph's age, I sure am so glad you got to meet and get to know him and share it with us. These were my favorite videos that you've done. As a dual sport motorcycle rider in upstate SC, we often ride up around this area and I think I may have been by or super close to this store here. We've met some fantastic folks from up in that area on random encounters. Man, this is just the best generation in my opinion. I greatly miss my grandparents and I wouldn't be here today without them! May Ralph Robertson rest in piece! Thanks again man!
Beautiful tribute John and Jodi❤

R.I.P. Ralph , VERY Interesting Man . . .
Pleas convey my deepest sympathy to Ralph's daughter's and thank them for sharing their father with all of the world. He was a true treasure and one of the last of the greatest generations ever. I'm so thankful you documented his life and stories. I never had the pleasure of meeting him personally yet thru the videos you made and shared with us I felt as if I knew him. He was a true southern gentleman who remained true to his upbringing and his way of life. I loved how he spoke the truth no matter what anyone thought. His girls are a testament to him and his beautiful wife. They both live on in their daughters and grandchildren and to the many friends they left behind. I think one of his girls opening and running his store would be such an amazing tribute to him and a life well lived. God bless and keep all his family and friends. Thank you John for introducing this amazing man to the world.
Loved listening to Ralph I'm 67 could relate and learn from him..and you were a good friend...
Rest in Peace Ralph . Wish the family and friends a lot of strength in this difficult time.
