I know I'm late, but to all my artsy friends asking if the background is dry before she paints the leaves and if the leaves are dry before she paints the flowers: They're not. She paint the layers without letting the past layer dry. It's one of the benefits of the impasto technique.

You make this look so easy! I can see why you would need the really heavy body acrylic paint. This is stunning.
You can get impasto medium which I have, i need to try this.
Yes i tried with normal acrylic and it was very hard to do with palette

It's beautiful! How long does it take for the flower petals to dry? Seemed like they would be wet for days, or do they harden like clay?

She included modeling paste. That will keep it from cracking. It takes a long time to dry all the way though though. So take care not to touch it.
